  1. For me it pretty much comes down to if it delays the gameplay or not. Some joking is fine (and needed) however when pissing about at base or in an AO means I'm waiting around for longer than required then it's not serious enough. I quite simply do not have the patience or time to waste looking at my PC screen but not actually playing* the game. *= by playing at include things like mission planning which otherwise might seem boring but are necessary to making the most of the game.
  2. I think you're over complicating it, plus you'd still be infringing on someone gameplay by taking their gear and sending them back to base - I wouldn't accept that. There's no reason a crate with AT4, mags, belts, nades etc can't be brought out to the staging area. And if this doesn't happen, what would happen in real life? Distribute the gear evenly and make do! Some of the best fun I've had has been whilst I was low on ammo and supplies fighting for survival!
  3. I don't disagree but your point is not dependent on you taking the role, others could take this role, or perhaps you could lead the squad and invite a newer player in to coach them? I don't think you'd find many people saying no if the offer was out there. I know you offered on the training nights which is great, and I don't disagree that some players can be a law unto themselves, but simply giving up on them isn't the answer either and is plainly arrogant. I am reasonable new here and it's been quite clear from the beginning that the success of this place is totally dependent on the players, especially the more experienced like yourself - you can make or break it by either being open and welcoming or shutting the door whilst you do your own thing. Apologies to Zak for taking this off topic. Regards, Alex.
  4. I think both of you make really good points about teamwork, however I would also point out that I more often than not observe you both and another already experienced player in a specialist role such as MAT, which is completely detached from the rest of the squad(s). Whilst I can empathise wanting to play with other players you know will perform and behave in the same manner as yourselves (I feel the same sometimes), perhaps you could try integrating with the other players? - especially the new player base you associate with the main problem on EU3 - to share your knowledge and experience of team play, with a view to educating them. Regards, Alex.
  5. I'm sure we are all familiar with the experience of waiting at base for half-an-hour (or longer!) waiting for other players to gear up only to have the AO last 30mins and then return to base to start all over again. A couple of times recently I have suggested that units proceed to the next AO immediately from the past AO if fit to do so, this has worked well and on one occasion everyone opted to go straight to the next AO in a straw-poll whilst the initial order was to RTB, which would have resulted in more 'down-time' at base. I think this method is now especially relevant with the 'no-insta-death' tweak and use of the medi-vehicles (Blackhawk and M113 ambulances) to completely heal people in the field. Some of you may ask "what about making the plan for next AO?" - I think the simple answer is the commander can specify a staging area near the next AO that units can proceed to, either in vehicles on site or with Vortex/Talon providing transport. In either scenario, air support could bring a re-supply crate the to staging area so that specialist units can re-arm with missiles etc. I also think that this method can be compromised, e.g some units ready to move and proceed to the staging area and provide some reconnaissance whilst other units RTB and come back to the staging area with supplies. The main benefits I can see from this method is a greater ratio of time spent 'in action' versus. waiting at base, especially important if you don't have hours to spend standing around whilst someone else discusses the history of an M2 .50cal. Also, moving from one AO to another adds another realism aspect to the game, e.g. bumping into ambient units or evading patrolling helicopters. There will of course be situations where RTB is necessary, however I make a plea to all commanders to think for a minute before giving the default order to RTB... Regards, Alex.
  6. Are we sure this doesn't apply to AI? On Zargabad last night we entered a compound after we had engaged enemy in it and all of them seemed to be unconscious?
  7. Since when? I got insta-killed yesterday. I like the idea of having instant death off as it vastly improves the player experience, especially when you spend an hour on mission setup, 15mins to get to an AO only to be instantly killed. At least there's a chance a medic can save you, being unconscious in the AO is often better than waiting at base for transport.
  8. Thanks to Ryko for setting this mission and gamenight up, unfortunately I had some bad FPS issues and after lagging off a roof and breaking my whole body have had to give up early. The mission looks really good and look forward to playing again when there are no FPS issues. Regards, Alex.
  9. I would agree there are too many uniforms, perhaps 5/6 to choose from would be most suitable, with other apparel having more choice to enable some customisation (face wear/helmets). However as previously said, the Arsenal is not easy to limit so they remain.
  10. I had to leave shortly before the end about 21:55 however it was great fun and many thanks to Icy and all for running the event, it went very smoothly Regards, Alex.
  11. True, but this would be no worse than TFAR when this could also happen, and all players who used correct radios as per guidance would be OK, rather than issue randomly affecting people. This could also be managed in the same way as weapons are for different roles. I think that not spawning with them would reduce the likelihood of old radios being dumped back in the crates, 'polluting' the non-bugged ones. Radio crates could also be placed away from the Arsenal, perhaps at the staging areas, so kit and load outs would less likely be saved with them in.
  12. Earliest Time You Suffered Desync on EU3 (from 16/1/16 onwards) - 16:00 GMT (ish) Describe what the desync was like (Complete freezing? Moonwalking people? Flying cars?) - Some infantry desync but specifically the Bradley, was on Zargabad with a significant number of players (25-30).
  13. How about no-one spawns with a radio as default, all radios to be picked up from a crate?
  14. One approach to the issue of people spending too long at Arsenal is that the commander leaves without them, they'll soon learn.
  15. I agree with the above, as we didn't have statics to start with, we naively believed it would be the same when we were attacking. For me it was a mixed experience, comms were very good considering but I don't think we could have made them better given the basic ingame comms and TS, so this was a limitation in my opinion. I enjoyed the pvp and think this will get better and more consistent as more missions are run and lessons are learned. Thanks to all those involved in the setup and running and also other players. Regards, Alex.
  16. I'm signed up but I might be a few minutes late for the 2000hrs start so please can you reserve me a slot? Basic rifleman will do. Regards, Alex.
  17. Signed up. First round was great fun, once we got going
  18. A GTX960 is not much more powerful than the over-3-year-old GTX660TI I have just upgraded from (even less so considering the massive boost clock it had being the MSI power edition). You'd actually get better value from a GTX970 which you could use in the rebuild you have planned. I think SCAN have an Asus GTX970 for £230 at the moment, cheapest to date. Just saying, hope you get it sorted regardless. (P.S, check second chart on this link for relative comparison - http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-650/performance)
  19. Luetin has uploaded the video of the first part of this OP to YouTube on his channel for anyone interested in watching.

  21. I've played a few of the EU#1/2 Zeus Missions and this was far superior in my opinion. Many thanks to Luetin, those involved in the setup and the players. I lookk forward to next time! Regards, Alex.
  22. For anyone new to EU#3 I strongly recommend reading the rules;- http://www.ahoyworld.co.uk/topic/3556-eu3-rules-and-guidelines-please-read/ and also how to play your role:- http://www.ahoyworld.co.uk/topic/3877-play-your-roles/ If you're new I also recommend picking a Rifleman, Grenadier, Autorifleman or assistant slot as these require the least specialist knowledge, e.g. don't go medic unless you know how it works as it's not a simple case of carrying med packs. Good Luck!
