  1. Lovin' this! Should be the last big operation on my current PC, aka Muckduck's old PC. She will be retiring hopefully next week. She's had a good run at an age of nearly 10 years.
  2. Insurgent game night has proven that people can actually behave and not shout Aluha Akbar at every kill they get.
  3. People naturally grow bored of running the same kinds of missions, randomizing towns and maps doesn't really aid in that. Eventually, you get the hang of how to approach each mission regardless of their location.
  4. Well, it kinda all boils down to that gameplay is the feature and not the toys. But even though Stilleto is an amazing mission I think the bigger part is that doing the same missions in different locations just kinda gets boring after a while. Designing a mission isn't all that hard with a working base file. E.g. all the mods and server related stuff and base stuff is in place. Then you can drag it around and place the enemies where you want the mission to be. Hey presto. That said, numbers were already declining greatly back when I did those missions. It has always been the organised events that drew in the crowd though, no matter who did them.
  5. Speculation, but the larger mods like ACE, TFAR and RHS have a massive community following. If they release via Steam, which so many people use, they'll get called out for delivering a broken update in an instant. Right? Limiting the size of the pack, and getting rid of the smaller not-so-necessary-mods-without-a-large-community-following reduces the broken mod risk quite a lot, not? I say speculation because we all know ArmA, and experiences may differ over servers.
  6. I'm all for removing all the mods and starting fresh running just TFAR, ACE and RHS for example. Keeping mods to a minimum also makes the issue of auto-mod updates less of a hassle, right? So many small mods are on the server now, so many purely aesthetics, but also the sheer amount of vehicles of which so many aren't used. They were relevant with the larger player base when people screamed to have them added. But a fresh start and a clear direction can keep the downloads to a minimum and makes Steamworkshop downloads a much more reasonable solution. I don't see why some are so keen on not removing mods now they've become obsolete with the current player base. I'd say, grab this opportunity for a fresh restart while it lasts.
  7. Sorry I did not cater to your liking Jonhson. Prometheus was very experimental and was mostly driven by the ways of insertion. Gotta admit that I don't have experience as a tank crew or even as Vortex, so didn't know in advance how that would play out. I don't know what I did wrong for you on other times as Zeus, so far you're the only one who openly speaks out about that. I don't understand why I suddenly deserve all that salt, though.
  8. Thank you I had people message me begging at one point for me to spice it up... I truely don't know what it was that I did well... One thing that annoyed me personally was when Zeusing was done when nobody requested it, there was a few nights when things just appeared to be rather random.... That said, my return to AWE for now I can only say is probably going to be a fluke, I don't know how long it will last. I wouldn't want to attempt to pick up a moderator position, but if I stay, and player count goes up, I may run a GN at some point... But don't count on it.
  9. The core of AWE is for me ACE and TFAR as Johnson suggested. But I wouldn't play with vanilla gear and vehicles. I like to play as USMC/US-Arm/BAF. So having some of that gear in place to play as those factions is what AWE is for me. I don't give a rats ass about all the operator BS and the huge selection of random countries camo. What still strikes me as odd is how special AWE is in terms of gameplay, banter and possibilities within Stiletto, yet nobody catches on to it? Stilleto offers so much more than just going to OBJ1 and then going on to OBJ2. Remember when we first used to scout out a few towns, talk to civs and set up a FOB before we went to the OBJ? On that note, I'd happily run a GN to see what the turn-up is. Just need to figure out how it all works again... Ya know, putting a mission down on Stilleto as a backbone I used to enjoy. I don't think any of the Prometheus maps would still work. But damn, those were good times
  10. I would like to thank those who have informed me of his passing. It's sad to see a brother go... I'm sadly not in a position to join this commemorative event. But my heart is with his family and relatives. For he may not be forgotten.
  11. Though I have left ahoy world, his passing touches me dearly. For those who alerted me of this sad news, thank you. It's always sad to see a brother leave this world for a better place. I will remember him dearly and will mourn him with you all. My condolences to his family and close friends. For he may not be forgotten.
  12. Interesting mission coming up in just over a week. Don't miss it!
  13. Most of those are answered in the mission description. The first post of this topic. I tested the landing craft both online and offline and I never had them this wank though. The hostages was due to time constraint we ran the mission for much longer than intended. Not to mention it became a bit chaotic when ASL had to go AFK and people sat on a hill waiting, which stalled the game. In the end it's not really enjoyable having 2-3 people drive vehicles around to collect all the hostages while the rest is sat doing nothing for 15 -20 minutes.
  14. So, who's in? There's a 6 man SpecOps team who will insert ahead of time, if you know a group you'd like to run that with, let me know!
  15. It was never there I've enabled and disabled certain squads from the start. I'm not going to run sign-ups. Everyone is free to pick their own gear, I do request people slotting up in a decent manner. Maybe.
  16. Ryko, pls fix the DG.sqf with Hammer and Torch both being indexed by 14
  17. Event Date: 01/05/2018 Event Time: 19:30 UTC https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=OP+Winter+Blues&iso=20180105T1930&p1=1440&ah=1&am=30 Mission Name: OP Winter Blues Brief Summary: Santa has delivered all his presents to the good boys and girls. However, a distress signal was sent out once he got back home. Apparently, he was followed by those who do not share the Christmass spirit and want to use his flying sleigh technology for their own good. We've tracked the distress signal to the island of Malden, perhaps this is where Santa lives and where his toy workshop is built. We need to rescue Santa and all his elves, we then need to secure his workshop. The flying sleigh technology has been captured already, so all we can do for now it make sure it isn't turned against Santa. We've made contact with Russia who have a FOB nearby. Russia agrees on how dangerous such technology can be. They've loaned us three amphibious landing craft and three mobile AA guns, which we can position around Santa's workshop. RUSFOR themselves will not engage in any combat unless provoked, so do not bother them any more than we already do. Mission Objectives: 1a. Insert SpecOps via HALO parachute to clear out the harbor. 1b. The rest is to rendevouz at the RUSFOR FOB, they are waiting for us. 2. Secure Le Port Harbor. 3. Infiltrate Santa's workshop, rescue all hostages and secure the island. 4. Await further orders. This mission will use your own loadouts and regular Stiletto assets are available. Cover Image: Player slots: 40 BLUFOR Expected Mission Length: 90 minutes Mods required: AWE Modset Server slots: 40
  18. Crazy1 has provided us with a large-scale combined arms mission. Sign-ups are not required but it's nice if you leave a message if you're going to attend!
