Ryko Posted May 30, 2016 Share Posted May 30, 2016 Hi folks, This coming week I'll be putting together a proposed streamlining of the arsenal: mainly this is going to be to remove duplication of weapons that different MODs have given us. For example, there are around 30 variants of the M4A1, between RHS, SMA and CUP, and there really don't need to be. My logic will be to remove duplicated weapons: if SMA provides a weapon that's substantially different than an RHS weapon, for example, it'll stay. But for the most part, if there's a "tie" between two weapons, I will probably defer to the RHS version. Plant1ing Posted May 30, 2016 Share Posted May 30, 2016 I don't find any of problems picking between weapons. It really doesn't matter as long it is 5.56. I just prefer RHS because of that incredible sound it delivers when fired. MK18 was the light for me from SMA. I don't use SMA anymore since MK18 is part of RHS. As a fresh player, since you propably don't know any of the weapons, you just pick one with a familiar name (e.g. M4 or SCAR) and the next time you pick another one till you find one that suits you (atleast thats what i am trying to do). But the list is so damn long with dozens of different versions of one single rifle (that basically all do the same and just look a little different) that it is really hard to find the single hidden gem ;-) So i would find this very helpful because i gives me a more condensed overview of what is available to me. Plant1ing Posted May 30, 2016 Share Posted May 30, 2016 Yeah you are right. Since my eye is trained to spot only one particular m4 and one particular mk18 as of now. And yes SMA weapon listing of MK18 is ridiculous. RHS has three MK18 available but two can also go leaving only one MK18 from RHS. All carbine 5.56 systems are the same. Different by just cosmetics, accuracy and weight not noticeable on our range of firing. When you see how accurate Tavor can be you just forget about all M4 AR15 variants in global. Yep it usually does not have impact on gameplay if you use short/long barrel, different stock etc. but this was last thing where we could really choose our best liked thing. No need for so many damn M4s, stick to the use of SMA for AUGs, L85s etc. and RHS for the core weapons relating to the faction we would be currently playing as on that map. + This would also eliminate a fair amount of ammo sharing problems people have (however that is not too common nowdays) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Also I think it does also indirectly effect gameplay, for example by further 'streamlining the arsenal it will : - Decrease the time older and newer players spend weapon-choosing at the arsenal around base which will further increase the speed of AOs and allow for more actual 'gameplay', as you say, to be done. - Elliminate most ammo sharing issues people have relating to the variation in weapons from different mod packs (especially for newcomers) - Allow newcomers to easilly distinguish the common RHS M4 sound compared to the RHS AK74 and AKM sounding weapons (which will benefit them if the wish to take more intricate roles such as Squad Leader, Team Leader, MAT, etc. - (Various other benefits I cant think of right now, I accidentally deleted all of my points) + You talk about weapon attachment variation which I do believe Ryko has no burning need to remove. For example the KAC stocks of the M4s as a M4 variation as well as the PMAG variations and the tan M4 variations. When it comes to a longer barrel which I know many of the lads look towards for added efficiency in combat I think the RHS does offer a longer Hk 416 barrel variation. The small amount of weapon attachment variations between RHS guns (Stock and mag types) I dont think Ryko has any need to remove as they literally cannot effect gameplay to a noticeable standard, there are not enough variations to slow gameplay down and any grip variations (which added to the M4 varients) have now been added to the bipod section of the weapon modifications hint hint Ryko please add the other RHS grips!
