  1. As we all know currently in Ukraine there is a horrific humanitarian crisis unfolding. Here at Ahoyworld we would like to show our support to the people of Ukraine and do what we can with our community to help those in need. As such we have opened up a donation goal on our forums found here. All donations will go to UKRAINE CRISIS | International Committee of the Red Cross (icrc.org). In addition to all donations raised on the forums Ahoyworld is going to match all funds up to £750 and we will also cover all costs so that all of the money donated is going to help.
  2. To give a small update from my side: I know i have been quiet recently on all fronts. Work ramped up quick after easter with a new job and then with black friday/christmas rush its not looking like calming down any time soon. But still, the server is installed and we seem to have the mission running, i just need to ensure that restarter scripts are set up correctly to ensure stability and brush off some of the other server side setup things before im happy to push live. Also wanting to ensure that staff have all the tools they need to ensure that everyone can have an enjoyable time on the server!
  3. Potentially looks like you have a mod selected that's not currently in the modlist.
  4. As remarked above, We have numerous methods that staff can be contacted in game. unfortunately you have decided to direct verbal abuse at members of the community and then respond to an admin with hate speach. As such I will not be removing this ban as those kinds of comments have no place on our servers. As such i will not be removing the ban at this time. BAN APPEAL UNSUCCESSFUL.
  5. because it is new it is using new metrics that were not measured before. meaning all members start at rank one
  6. Lurking is fun! Welcome aboard
  7. I agree that a review of the rules is needed, but i do not see need for us to massively change them. They are clear and consise. The issue, seems to have stemmed more from the investigation procedure carried out. The reason the report was filed was for the investigation to occur, it would be wrong of us to not question the report, from all angles and ask questions that people do not like because that is often where the truth lies. I agree that discussion is needed. But like everyone else here, Core was not aware it was a big deal as it was never actually discussed with us as a team until the report was filed.
  8. This was discussed within corestaff and we determined that we did not and will not repremand anyone within the community for the use of this mod due to the fact that we use it and the fact that the information is accessable from other sources also. This was always the case and would have been clear had someone asked us at any point. Initial action was taken within 3 hours of the report being made, The first i knew about the initial report was a message notifying me of the demotion in the corestaff chanel. Unfortunately i was working late, doing critical maintance at work and therefore couldnt look at it immediately. We knew the opinions of staff and had detailed notes from many people. we reviewed the information that we had from staff and decided that it was sufficient. Had the process have been completed properly then im sure we would have had a civilised convorsation about the topics at hand. Honestly at the time it felt like we were being beaten from all sides, i knew anything i said would be spread around like wildfire and warped into something that it wasnt. I opted to not disclose anything until action was decided for that reason. I will not pretend and say the action was appropriate when it was clearly not. There was no investigation and that was where my initial concerns lied. Had the evidence been clear cut as people are making it out to be im sure my stance would have been different.
  9. I can attest that the way this was handled was..... lacking from the start. For example most of CS didnt even know about the report when the initial action was taken. This made it hard for us to be united on the decision, when as rightly said it seemed half arsed and came under ridicule. The issue from then was more the fact that peoples minds had been made up because they had seen the report and in their own groups decided on a virdict. The issue for me initially was "This process needs to be fair and look at all the evidence" from that me and midnight discussed it in CS channel and were in agreement that the action taken was potentially too early and needed further investigation, as such that is what we did, we discussed with all parties that were relevent to the report and used the evidence that was brought up after the initial report also. Can i see where a "recruitment ruling" came into it? Sure. Did me and other members of the core staff community also find evidence that there was none. Yes. This was why ultimately we decided that taking any action was too far. The notion that this is a case simply of simply sharing an discord link on EU1. Or anything of that nature is plainly wrong. This was a complex situation that, in my opinion having been dealt with properly, could have been handled in a week with a simple "ok we will keep an eye on it" Type of thing. Had all the evidence been presented in the investigation of the report and before it had been actioned, we wouldnt be here because all the evidence would have come forward we would have come to it from a neutral position (as was eventually done) evidence would have been gathered and a united response put to the reportee, staff and anyone else that was relevent to the enquiry. From a personal side i would like to note i have been here a while and i remember being a mod, admin and player. The community is fun and i have always been here through it all for the players and my honest drive is to be fair and listen to anyone about anything then coming to a fair but firm conclusion. Not for any other reason than that is how i would want to be treated. I will never apologise for fighting for the rules and investigations to be actioned in a fair manner that is consistent and fair for everyone. For, if i can not be fair with the rules i encourage us to follow, how can i expect the rest of the team to follow those same rules. Due to the way the report was initially handled we were fighting a battle where everyones minds were already made. We were not ignoring the problem as you say, we were dealing with the report in the proper way. While i was also working late in a new job that im still getting to grips with that meant that the time i did have available was not instant and a lot of the delay was due to that. It should have been. Since it was a Admin report that is how they are meant to be handled and that is why they are in a restricted area of the forums. the rules apply to all FAIRLY.
  10. [Tweaked] Non-pilots can now use parachutes [Tweaked] Sectors now have an independent spawn and capture radius, so keep an eye out for the differences between sector types. [Tweaked] BRDM to Light Vehicles [Tweaked] Added some generic headwear to arsenal [Possible Fix] Issue with binocular slot (unsure if fix will help) [Fixed] Mission Progress hint not being setup on initPlayerLocal
  11. The modlist we provide does not have to include only "mandatory mods" We can add optional mods that we feel enhance the experience. DUI has been tested with this mission and server where we have found it to be working reliably hence the change. But yes if you remove that mod from your personal modset and add STUI then that will also work
  12. The leave group button has been there for the entire time and you could have left any time you wished. Also there are many lines of communication available to everyone in the community, via the forums, Discord and teamspeak, that could have been used by yourself to get any issues resolved within good time. However it was not brought to my attention that it was something causing an issue to you or anyone in the community my other commitments to the community have been taking a precedent. As you can see as soon as the issue was raised action was taken to ensure that all parties are happy with the outcome. You claimed that you were the owner of the group here: I simply made a comment stating that the group in question was not in fact under your control and the community did not need to contact you in regards to gaining the ownership because we already had it. Also Ryko is in the group and was already an administrator. What is impressive to me is the approach to getting the issue resolved by yourself. i think that would class as impressive for all the wrong reasons. Thank you for your concern, Ghost
  13. If you mean this one: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/AhoyWorldofficial Thats not an issue as you are not the owner
  14. I have a ultrawide monitor and yes the horizontal fov is a lot wider, If you look at some of the youtube streams on the ahoyworld channel from me they are all ultra-wide content and should provide a idea of the differences between 21:9 and 16:9
  15. Tweaked a setting on the back-end hopefully this is a fix
  16. We moved away from feature releases and rewrites of I&A 3 A while ago, This was a combination of 2 factors. At the time I&A and arma were in a happy place, Development on I&A4 was going well and features that needed improvement from 3 made more sense to be bundled into a the complete rewrite rather than trying to tidy up all the old code. As well this we also noticed that the more we were tweaking and editing I&A 3 we would often find that this caused performance issues on the server side. Granted hard to notice now, since the servers have been updated but the impact was noticeable, especially around the first and second releases of features while we ironed out bugs. We took the decision that having a reliable, stable mission took precedence. This has meant that some things are still not ideal but it does mean that I&A 4, written from the ground up has more of these quality of life improvements built in. In our opinion this is a better way to manage this as we can easily change back to a I&A 3 version that we know is working if there is an issue with the I&A 4s stability that effects the game-play in a major way. We agree that Beta is still very much in development but we are getting closer and in this past beta run a lot of information was gathered on AI spawning and clean up mechanics that should make the experience better for everyone. However updating 3 with such changes is likely to increase instability and effect the downtime of the server rather than providing a reliable experience to players. However we agree that I&A3 being our main mission for the current time means we do need to continue support with quality of life fixes and ensuring that the mission is running well for all to experience. As such we think that adding a chat notification before the script runs could be a good idea at this time as it does seem like a feature that would benefit the player base. REQUEST APPROVED
  17. Hey guys, kamaradski has created this Points of Interest spreadsheet that people can add places to go fly over and have a look at: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/102R6t91C3Z6IeQlfGHMlCJ89AsMIgDT81qJtkPcbVro/ Feel free to add your own and create some routes with it!
  18. The next gen chips will support b450 with a bios update VRMS are usually better on the x570 series boards but the board you have (same as the board in my server) Is pretty good on that front too, I have enjoyed using it and it will cope with the entire stack perfectly well.
  19. B450 is perfectly fine for most things, only time I ever recommend 570 is either for the pci gen 4 support when pairing with a gpu or SSD that is capable of it or for higher memory capacity/speed uses. Otherwise there is little to gain from having the x570 boards
  20. With the calender events they are on an approval only basis bacause only events hosted by AW should be placed on there. Since events hosted by us can be run by anyone that sends in a mission this means that if we allowed anyone to create an event we would end up with a lot of clutter on the calander that is definitely not needed. As it stands all members of the admin team can approve posts on the forums and calender. We like this approach as it keeps these locations clean from spam and only approved events end up in these locations. Personally my advice would be to notify a member of staff when these events have been posted so that they can be approved within a timely manner.
  21. Ahoy all, Unfortunately due to unforceen circumstances with the gamenight lead, @JANXOL, We are going to have to delay this event until next week the 21/06/2020. We are sorry for the late notice but as always IRL takes presidence for all our staff and we look forward to things returning to normal next week! Thanks Ghost
  22. Hello, Thank you for the Appeal, Please give our admins time to review it. If you read the notice on the appeal form you filled out you will find the following: Do not pester staff to look at your appeal, this will only decrease your chance of success. Since you have already messaged at least two people on CoreStaff within 25mins of this post going live could you please refrain from messaging us further as we will get to the appeal in due time. Our staff are busy people and have lives outside of Ahoy. # Thank you
