  1. Is it an Arma version of the Paris-Dakar rally? Because that would be very fun!
  2. however there are many things in tryk that this mod just doesn't even cover. for example the items that use the glasses or nvg slot. these items that are added in tryk are useful to the point where the nvg slot versions actually are nvgs without the border and they can add to your character such as the equipment that can be attached [chemlights and gloves secured to the vest ...]. overall i thing that tryk should stay and that the mod shown may not be a very good replacement. [use vanilla or rhs instead of wearing the tryk chestrigs if the armor problems are too bad for your liking] finally the main point i would like to say is that moving to another mod for uniforms is going to annoy quite a few people as new loadouts might be needed to replace removed modded items.
  3. we need more enemy armor such as t-90s and t-80s. if there was more challenge and people knew what to do with tanks then we could use them well and the infantry wouldn't be able to complain about tanks cleaning out an ao however mini in burnes had updated the challenger to have massive nerfed damage models also this mod may be nice for resupplying vehicles to the front lines.[when it comes out]
  4. its nice to see others wanting vehicle warfare. normally when i place ideas related to tanks it gets automatically shot down but maybe they will think differently now.
  5. well it converts to a tiny url that searches HMS Valiant [a British battleship] in Norwegian google. i have tried running it through python as i thought it was a script, nothing happened so i ran it through arma 3 as an executable and nothing happened. it says things about '!alive gauntlet' so i guess the alive mod will be involved and that is is about the gauntlet mission. overall i suspect that there will be an 'invasion 1944' gauntlet mission created as the HMS Valiant was around at that point in time [1944]. i now know this is incorrect as it is a code which says if gauntlet isn't loaded to load another new mission [Jochem told me]
  6. i think he means that ideas he came up with get shot down by other players
  7. you don't need to force people to stop making their own loadouts you need to just advise people on what each role should have and how to make good loadouts for example making a list of items that should be included in a medic role loadout e.g. 15 of each bandage ... you have to think, is this a full realism milsim server or is it a server that fits within the space between casual and milsim. remember not everybody may want to play as the Americans using M4 and marpat .
  8. after getting arma 3 the day before i searched for a server that wasn't hosting pvp or life missions; when i found Ahoyworld i enjoyed it (EU1 by the way) so i went on the team speak. one of the best decisions i could make [back when rarek was on most of the time]
  9. OK. you say that tanks are being used only for looks and can then go and wipe out the ao ruining the fun for everybody else. if someone who knows how to use the tank effectively and knows when to stop then everybody has fun as in ONLY TAKING OUT TARGETS THAT COMMAND HAS SAID TO KILL. then you say about the buggy parts and j turns that happen; I have not flipped the challenger 2 once in my use of driving it up and down Chernarus multiple times as its control system is much better than the RHS controls that force it to flip whenever it goes faster than 20kph. what i'm saying is let the good crewmen have the better tanks and see how it goes. yes i say that the RHS tanks are bad because they are, the problems said are the problems that would be fixed by the challenger such as the wipe of an AO or the random flipping or spinning. i personally have had to RTB from missions in the tanks after running out of ammo when doing 3 consecutive missions and mainly with only light damage. the last time i was destroyed in a tank was when 3 tank shells hit the same spot on the bottom of the tanks hull. people do actually play hammer and torch, i have been playing on EU3 a week after it first was on patrol ops and yes less and less people have been playing those slot but people actually do, if you ask someone if they want to do a tank crew then you can almost always get at least another person that will be willing to play tank crew. recently i went on EU3 and after a restart i asked if anybody wanted to do a tank crew and 4 people replied so we filled torch and had an extra loader but not having enough seats limited us. that clearly shows that people are willing to use the armor if there is a crew. yet again from that same mission i saw about 15+ Russian armored vehicles including tanks and apcs. tanks are used to take out enemy armor and support the infantry and lighter forces so if there is no tank then missions go on for longer as infantry are less well equip to deal with tanks unless the hat slot is used and then still the infantry still have to respawn many times.
  10. thanks for your very constructive and helpful comment. no, i'm being serious about adding in the challenger and please give a reason why it shouldn't , i'm asking nicely just by looking and listening to the community on EU3 you can see that not everybody wants to be the 'all american marine' that EU3 is currently wanting. this is clearly shown when people use weapons and uniforms that have the UK flag for example. so i don't see why people aren't allowed to show their identity or use equipment that is usable with a level of effectiveness and enjoyment.
  11. from what i have seen a tank is very useful when attacking a mission and the amount of enemy armour present is very high. so after using the Abrams for many missions i can say that a with a good crew that can follow orders and target the correct enemies is better than sending lots of infantry who die every 10 minutes to get replaced. with the tank up operations ran smoother and i noticed that the amount of friendly deaths was lowered. with the challengers interior it enables the crew to feel more immersed when locked in first person and with the handling which is amazing compared to the RHS vehicles slide and flip methods of driving it will greatly improve the quality of game play with more than just the tank crew. for example when driving in convoy if the main tank flips due to a failed control system then it can be annoying for everybody. this evolves the tank crew having to drive back up to the objective alone and the infantry getting hit by the full force of the enemy and their 15+ heavy armoured tanks and APCs.
  12. Yes I have said it before but could we reinstate the Challenger tank in the EU3 repo. RAM has had an update so the challenger can now be killed. It doesn't require AGM and works with ACE It looks beautiful It has an interior It has the legendary HESH rounds and it can be found at: Challenger: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=27205 [out dated] https://www.dropbox.com/s/46ewpdgxs4wfhzm/%40Burnes_Challenger.rar?dl=0 [newest] RAM http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=24451
  13. This goes for all servers as well: Main battle tanks are not for urban combat they are primarily used for taking out armored targets at long range. So if you are in a tank stop on a hillside and take out primary targets such as armor and leave the light enemies for infantry. If you do this you wont get shouted at by infantry for killing all of the targets. The main thing is the saying 'you cant win a war with only a tank, but you can't win without one' Basically for people who don't understand: 1.Always have infantry and light vehicle support when in a tank. 2.Focus on armor and high threat targets. 3.Don't enter a town or city with a tank [iFVs and infantry can do that.] 4.Communicate with your team [where and what targets are...] 5.Don't race cars at high speeds. 6.Don't turn at high speed. 7.Don't reverse into buildings 8. Know your surroundings and what is 5 feet away from you so if you do flip then nobody else will be hurt. 9. Confirm targets and that they are enemy
  14. Another thing that I've just noticed is that if everybody trains themselves then parts may be missed out so I think that set training or boot camp sessions are required. In the 48th there are scheduled opportunities when the higher ranking players teach 'boot camps' where newer players can go to and learn what to do in each circumstance. its probably come up already but
  15. OK, there is a LOT of negativity here towards their idea yes it adds another item 'cluttering the arsenal' as you put; but that doesn't mean you should just blank everything out thinking that what you have is perfect. [sounds a bit meaner that what i expected but] also you say there is no combat related reason for having the beret, actually there are reasons. if you know that someone that has for example a long range radio on their back they are likely to be in command of a fire team etc. this gives that person an identity or something you can use to distinguish who they are e.g. friend or foe. In other words there is a reason for having the beret or other variations even though they may 'clutter the arsenal' as then you can know who you are talking to or looking for so the team can be more effective. in addition if you want to solve the 'clutter' problem have different arsenals for different people and only have the items they should be using in their box according to their role. about the damage part; from my experience the AI either kills you outright with the first shots or damages you similar amounts no matter what you are wearing. finally, the dress up games that apparently happen. simply say 'SAVE YOUR OUTFITS/GEAR' in a big text; 'wait in your fire teams until given further instructions by your leader before the mission' and if it comes to it [something that I HATE] use what is given to you. From where I have been playing arma3 modded recently the resupply dilemma doesn't occur when basically we do the mission with the supplies we have and when we are not doing a mission [only person online kind of thing] we sort out out gear. Another thing we tend not to mind having 10 million items as we have been using both RHS, TRYK, TFA/X... we just deal with it and look for the one we want. !!!!!!
  16. how about my skyrim? Mod list is too large to list but the ENB I use is either the elderblood ENB or the PUREvision ENB I USED TO BE AN ADVENTURER LIKE YOU, BUT THEN I TOOK A SWEETROLL TO THE KNEE!!! AWSOME dual screens!!! (3888x1080)
  17. Because the Bradly is an APC or LAV but the Abrams and Challenger are main battle tanks so they deal more power and can survive more.
  18. Well we should then wait for the update and compatibility patches... then we shall see the glory of the challenger
  19. I would love to be a driver
  20. I did a quick test to see if it worked [main parts] and it did
  21. After a while of only using RHS tanks I have grown to be sick of their handling [don't say 'its just because it is in development' please] but seriously, I have would like to reinstate the Burnes Challenger 2 on EU3 [http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=27205] REQUIREMENTS: AGM [ACE works instead] AGM[http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?178253-Authentic-Gameplay-Modification] ACE[http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=28557] RAM [RHS works with it] or we could wait for the non RAM version. [http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=24451] This will make people happy [mainly the gunner and driver on tank crews] proof that it works with ace: [http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=446161487] what its like: [http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=446161508]
  22. Also it wasn't actually that over powered because when i tried it on the first hit from a tank the whole crew was knocked out.
  23. I miss it so much !!!! The mod creator has been lowering the damage so it would be equal to the RHS vehicles Also CUP seems quite promising http://cup-arma3.org/
