  1. Hi folks! Thanks to a bunch of people who helped me test a map I'm working on - Corazol. Here's footage I shot from Zeus perspective today: The premise is that a border town in Sahrani needs to be occupied: Russian and US tank platoons move in to capture it. It's a Sector Control map, with three sectors in the town to occupy. The US have four M1A1 tanks, two M2A3 TUSK, and a command M1025; the Russians have four T90 tanks, two BMP-3, and a command GAZ. Both teams have two minutes to set up, and then there's a twenty minute time limit. I'll be working on this a bit more this week, with the hope that perhaps one night we could run it as a game night: I think it would be awesome to run this with as many folks as possible! -R
  2. Game night on Ahoyworld EU3! November 7, 2015. Four squads assault an island off the coast of Panthera.
  3. Thanks again Icy for last Saturday's game night. A few thoughts while I have them: 1) TFAR was having a fit that night - was something perhaps not configured correctly? Amentes could not for love or money get back in after crashing and relogging - I seem to recall hearing that MessedupSmiley had to log people in manually. 2) Loadouts needed some work. Thanks Glitch for the late game fixes. Perhaps have a few static ammo boxes to round out the rough edges? 3) I would have loved for a briefing item in the map screen to let me know what the objectives were. I found that I was learning about what the mission and plan was while I was getting into the boat (we're taking a boat? cool). I recognize that Raz created the mission previously but perhaps when it's finalized it can be inserted into the map briefing for reference? Either that or a good ol' mission briefing with squad leads. For example, I knew our objective was the comms towers, but then there was this whole push across the island to phase line Zulu that came out of nowhere for me. -R
  4. Great idea, Minipily, and I'd love to help in any way. I think you'd need to have a "game master" as well as two players who would act as Platoon Commanders for the US and Russian sides. What you could do is provide the map with the current "state of affairs" and possible objectives, and flip a coin to see who could act first: for example, Russia wins the toss. Then Russia can decide to attack / probe / push the boundary line as they see fit. In this example the US gets to react to this advance as they see fit. What I'm seeing here is that the US and Russian commanders work out the details of the game day in advance - perhaps US creates a defense force to the Russian aggression, but also creates a special force to assault an objective in Russian territory, prompting a Russian defense. On game day, these details have been hammered out and the scenario has been created for the day. Would it also be useful to have a component of AI forces to flesh out the size of the campaign? For example if players wander outside of the AO into another of the territory (perhaps in an attempt to flank), DAC could spawn units that they run into. -R
  5. Perhaps we just have Gauntlet (Fixed loadouts) and Gauntlet (Virtual Arsenal) as selectable missions? Right now it's the users who decide the missions that get played (unless we have an admin on) so when an admin isn't around, democracy could decide. I think the Virtual Arsenal is great when you have a smaller base of players, so you can fine tune what you need, but when you have 20+ players it could help to get the mission moving by just having fixed loadouts. -R
  6. We need to fix the mission settings in Gauntlet so that 3rd person can be enabled in the Veteran+ difficulty levels; right now (I think) it's only enabled in Recruit, where the bad guys are given white glowy dots and good guys are given green glowy dots to help you find them. Not that I particularly mind this on maps like Panthera where the bad guys can shoot with impunity through trees and grass, and it's impossible to find them. -R
  7. I really should have thrown a grenade at the end there. Still regretting that.

    Squad key giveaway!

Entered - maybe I'll get to see what all the fuss is about!
  9. I signed up and am looking forward to it!

  11. Fraggloid - I sympathize. There are some games I've played where I have gotten nauseous during playing, and others where I haven't. I haven't nailed down the cause. The thing that I am wondering is how playing in first person is different from playing in third person. There's also a "head bob" slider under game options (General) that you can tailor to your liking.
  12. EU3, Zargabad. The Air Force has lost another one of its precious UAVs. Good use of rolling cover in this one and you get to hear me dine on a lunch of sandwich and crunchy carrots.
  13. Funnily enough, I haven't had that many people disagree with my commands... in fact the last video I posted in the Arma screenies & videos thread, @15:10, Chongo_10 suggested a different approach and I took it because it was a better idea than mine. If your commands make sense, people generally follow them. My issue has been mostly people playing in their own private groups or in different languages, which makes it difficult to assess whether they are following commands or not. -R
  14. EU3, Al Rayak. Russian forces must eliminate an enemy officer on a distant island. Paradropping goodness!
  15. I like what you're putting forward there, Rave. I would suggest that there just be a regular TvT night (Wednesday's looking popular) and the map is chosen based on the turnout of players. Ie., larger maps for a larger player base. If there isn't a minimum number of players within a certain time frame, it just reverts to regular Gauntlet. To further your point on people complaining about being locked out, I'd suggest that a time limit be enforced on every TvT map: this encourages the game to move forward and it also ensures people don't have to wait too long. Unfortunately I'd suggest that streaming shouldn't be a thing because it's too tempting to stream-snipe or confer details to in-game players. Unless a suitably long delay can be introduced, that is (ie., perhaps the time limit of the map). I've been experimenting with mission design and I'd be more than happy to be part of helping to make this happen. Perhaps a discussion on what kinds of scenarios might be possible that are different from just assault/defend? Ie., - Both teams are racing to secure a point, and it becomes a king-of-the-hill scenario - Convoy mission (mobile assault/defend) - Domination style mission (multiple capture points, can be secured in any order, requiring teams to create assault & defender sub-teams) -R
  16. It's a pity this couldn't be run as a client-side mod as far as uniforms go: you know, you see the British MTU uniform or whatever on your screen, and everyone else just sees the mission-specific camo. As far as the AI is concerned, the camo pattern used matters not one iota. Technically, we should all be wearing snow cam so that we can see each other properly. -R
  17. Voted yes; I enjoyed the TvT match we played. For completeness, shouldn't there be a Yes, was No before? Sensing some bias I would be curious to know what kind of diversity there is in the available TvT missions. I enjoyed the capture/defend mission of Dolina, but I felt it was pretty one-sided. -R
  18. Is there any sense of how weapons perform with CUP vs RHS? As an example to explain what I mean, laser designating from the ground for JDAM munitions or GBUs does not seem to work on RHS vehicles.
  19. I've had great games with the vanilla loadouts. Here's my suggestion: if there's a way that the Platoon Commander can "requisition" specific kits (ie., they could have access to the Virtual Arsenal) that he can hand out to players who need / want / cry for it.
  20. Rana, are you saying they're available in the EU3 arsenal? Because I haven't seen them there. Unless I am blind.
  21. If it's a British thing, then there are a few notable weapons missing: including the L86 LSW and the L85 with attached grenade launcher. As long as it's not another gig of stuff to download, then I'd be cool with MODs that add some more nation's gear (including perhaps German?). -R
  22. Well, I can't get it to run locally, so I'm game to try it when it gets officially put into the repository and tested... unless someone wants to walk me through how to do it.
