  1. Nice solution, but that just doesn't work. We TRIED that. I was playing as Vortex during that mission and had zero comms most of the time, even on the supplied radio. The only guaranteed fix I see for 100% of people is to use TFAR until ACRE has been tested extensively and proved to be 100% functional. When multiple players are unable to take part in missions due to an unknown, seemingly unfixable issue, it's hardly fair on them. The only other temporary fix I can think of would be to have players unable to use ACRE in a separate TS channel and the same group in-game, so that they can communicate independently.
  2. Uh, still occurring. Has happened since I registered on the site.
  3. Well, we're having a lot of issues with ACRE at the moment; Half of the server can't transmit to others, half can't hear others transmitting, etc. Everyone is able to use local comms, so it's not an install issue.
  4. Played the Arma 2 Servers for a while, moved on to Arma 3, and only really got involved when I decided to give EU3 a shot. Never looked back
  5. I seem to be unable to change my forum avatar. I get the option to upload an image or use Gravatar; I've tried both, both report as successfully selected/uploaded, but neither actually apply the image. I'm getting a tad sick of being a minecraft character! Is anyone able to assist me on this? Edit: So, it seems that my avatar appears as a thumbnail for threads on the main page, but as the minecraft feller in the threads itself. ...What.
  6. I definitely feel that if the snow effect was better made/limited to light flurries, and if we'd left the TFAR/ACRE switch to a later date, a lot more people would partake in EU3's snow map. ACRE seems to be incredibly buggy and difficult to learn to use to the level we used TFAR; I suspect this weighs heavily on a few of the regular players.
  7. I adore the MV-22, but I don't really see a use for it in EU3. Maybe if we had a larger map like Takistan being used for more than gamenights it'd be useful, for right now, I'd say the Helicopters and C130 we have cover all bases.
  8. We have a few pieces of snow gear in our modpack already - in fact, I wandered around in some of it during a mission briefing the other day on Panthera. The AI could be given a single piece, like a plate carrier or backpack, and fit in, really. Full white snow camo is usually only used in arctic regions; for a snowy forest in a temperate region, you'd most likely have a white smock or parka over your usual gear.
  9. Hardly. Having driven in first previously, following a TC's orders, we ran into multiple friendlies due to a lack of peripheral awareness. I'm happy to drive in first as the gamenight seems to be set to that now, and driving armour is one of the few roles I'd be happy to do in first locked, but I'll always prefer third for Arma. To clarify my comment regarding not just following instructions, it's just a tad boring when all you can see is the small field of view out of the periscope. The Bradleys and some Russian vehicles are quite fun due to their interior detail, but it's nice to be able to just look around when you're idle, instead of staring at the same tree for minutes on end. I know you specifically dislike drivers who spot and call out targets that'd be out of their realistic field of view, and that's fair enough; I agree with that entirely.
  10. If I get that slot, yes. I've been playing sim and RP games long enough to not be that much of a noob. I drive in third so I can actually see what's going on, rather than just following someone else's instructions. Games we have to pay for should be fun, not Simon says! If this is for certain just remove my choices. Not taking part if this is in.
  11. *Crosses fingers and hopes for something other than grenadier for once*
  12. Definitely noticed this today for some reason. I hit one AI 8 times (Definite hits, as his body recoiled, as they do), and he simply ran around a corner.
  13. Oddly, I tend to prefer Platoon Command to the other leadership roles. It's easier, in my eyes, as long as people listen to you.
  14. I'll try to attend to listen in; SL/TL isn't really my thing so it might be interesting to hear some more about the role and such.
  15. 100% this. I've not used it in the past because it's an OPFOR weapon, but I believe we should make an exception. It's a great little launcher for anything but modern MBTs, it's lightweight, and it's the closest thing to the M72 LAW that we have available. I believe we were equipped with it in the Panthera Gamenight Op a couple of weeks back. With regards to MAT/HAT etc, I still believe that vehicle transit should be used more frequently for those teams. That, and having a full team carrying extra ammunition while the gunner carries the loaded launcher, would enable them to bring with them exactly the equipment they require. My current rifleman loadout consists of the following: M4A1 w/ ACOG & Flashlight Glock 19 Lightweight Vest : 4x 5.56 STANAG mags 2x Glock mags 1x Frag 1x M84 Stun 1x White Smoke 1x IR Strobe 1x IR Grenade 5x basic bandages 2x Morphine 1x Epinephrine 1x Tourniquet 1x Earplugs 1x Maglight 1x NVGs 1x Wool hat 1x Glasses 1x Radio (5km) 1x GPS All of this comes to between 16 and 17 KG. I rarely run out of ammo in an AO, and if I do, it's STANAG. It's easy enough to come by from Humvees or friendlies. For me, this is still too heavy; I often take even less than this. I dislike using helmets and such, but will do so if I'm asked to by SL/PLC. The best thing to do is to get into Arsenal with your EU3 mods enabled, and just experiment. Try and keep your weight as low as possible, while still carrying what you need. It took me all of 5 minutes when I first joined EU3 to realise that my EU1 loadouts wouldn't work, due to the weight and realism limitations. As a side note, I just took Shadow Knight's LMG loadout and remade it for him. I managed to strip 25KG off his kit, that was wasted on entirely useless items. It weighed 54KG before I started. If a lot of people are carrying that much weight, I'm honestly not surprised they're experiencing fatigue issues. EDIT: Decided to do some testing in Arsenal. My loadout above can be carried while sprinting at full pace for 200m. That's 200m, sprinting. Not running. It's rare you'd need to sprint that far on any map, unless you're out in the open somewhere - in which case you're doing it wrong. I also made a MAT Gunner loadout, which was the above with one less M4 mag, and a loaded MAAWS. That came to 25Kg. That's perfectly usable. The MAT Assistant, I gave a kitbag, containing three missiles. That came to 29.5Kg, which is a little over what I'd prefer. Both of those are able to sprint for 125m. Add that to the MAT SL, who can carry perhaps an additional one or two (allowing for his radio), and you've got a good amount of missiles; If you're encountering more armoured targets than 6 missiles (one in launcher, three on carrier, two on SL) can take out, you should really be calling for CAS.
  16. Seems pretty realistic to me. Seriously though, my loadouts rarely exceed 25Kg. Everyone needs to cut back on what junk they carry. Fair enough, MAT/HAT are always going to be overburdened, but they always have the option of taking a vehicle to re-supply from.
  17. I'm not sure on this, it seems to be the same regardless of a vote or not. The first thing I did when I played Arma 2 for the first time was disable that! Third person seems to just be a more comfortable viewpoint. There are more items on-screen for reference, and it's more like an overwatch camera view. I only tend to switch to first person when I'm aiming down the sights, so there's not an issue there for me. Arma is the only game where this has ever been an issue for me. I've played countless other first person games, including the infamous Mirror's Edge, and I've never experienced this before.
  18. This seems to be correct, but I've yet to knowingly test Veteran to see if it is. If this is correct, can't the server just be locked/defaulted to Veteran, rather than Regular, as it is now? the "#vote missions" permits a difficulty vote, but I believe most players aren't selecting the option when voting on the map.
  19. Something that seems to have been implemented on EU#3 recently is a lock to first person view. I can understand why this appeals to many, but for me personally, it effectively prevents me from being able to enjoy playing. During any sort of movement, the motion of the camera just makes me feel nauseous, provokes a headache and general discomfort. ArmA is the only game where this occurs, and I've spent some time trying to find a solution, including FoV changes, motion blurring, and head-bob options. None of those has helped. I've spoken to a lot of people about this, and I've received mixed reactions; some like the lock as it prevents third person peeking, some dislike it. Frankly, it's ruined the server for me. Although I'm relatively new to EU#3, I thoroughly enjoyed the time I played up until the first person lock. The main reason I'm so vehemently against the lock is that we have the option to switch between the two modes. If players wish to play in first person, they can. Allowing third person simply expands the audience, and hardly in a negative way. I'm not aware of anyone who takes deliberate advantage of third person peeking, but if it's an issue, I'm sure it can be reported to an admin and dealt with appropriately. If we were playing more PvP missions I could see why that'd be a problem, but on PvE it's hardly game breaking. There are more pressing matters to be dealt with than that, surely? Please, if you have any reasons there should be a first person lock other than immersion, state them.
  20. I feel as though as this is the best option. Removing freedom from choosing a loadout would, for me, remove a large amount of the fun from the server. As long as people remain sensible with their loadouts, and there is a clear, up to date guide as to what can and cannot be taken, there shouldn't be an issue.
