  1. Hi there, this topic is widely debated and the short answer is: There's no rule either way to make it friendly for the squad leader to decide. Personally when I'm leading regardless of size all of Alpha is on one, all of Bravo is on another, all of MAT is on another. If there's no JTAC and i'm platco i'll even have the aircraft in on command common.
  2. Dear AhoyWorld-iers, I invite you all to attend a community meeting on Teamspeak, commencing 19th of December at 1400UTC. At the meeting I'll be running through some of the recent changes along with a summary of this year at AhoyWorld and explain why we've done what we've done. As this is a generalised meeting, almost a presentation really, I would ask that any questions or concerns you have first raise the attention of the appropriate manager then if you feel it requires my attention send me a private message. I may just answer it at the meeting.
  3. to reiterate exactly what pero said: All of our ArmA servers are currently experiencing memory leaks, I do not initially suspect it's our fault because it happened across all servers after the nexus update, which notoriously released breaking content by removing mission dependancies. Bohemia are not the most professional or reliant when it comes to releasing updates.
  4. it is available on both pc gaming and arma
  5. Here's How, this document will be kept up to date
  6. I think in leadership terms you are as strong as your weakest link. if you have a FTL that can't round up his team then the squad leader in effect has a weaker squad making the platoon weaker. looking at t'other game night i had an excellent team including a couple i didn't really know, the other team leader was on the ball and so was the squad leader. it was awesome being able to trust the other fire team leader. yeah anyway, fingers crossed for some great results from this event and others in the future
  7. we'll be travelling at around 200-250 Knots In Air Speed (KIAS) to comply with the vote and enabling the prop aircraft to keep up
  8. sweet , It doesn't look like anybody else is interested in helicopters and as the gazelle hasn't released I'll just open it all up but the flight lead will be a trainer jet.
  9. If you think about it, don't they drop backpacks containing a fair amount of weight when entering a firefight? return to backpack to grab ammunition (or rockets/missiles in this case)? Another question is, how much do we want this to be a simulator vs game. In our public stomping grounds i'm guessing stamina will be turned off as they are not really aiming at a full on simulation, what are our goals for eu3? Do we really want an accurate as plausible simulation or do we want to tone it down a little for gameplay?
  10. Just a quick heads up, we now have an ArmA3 Unit page! If you spot a mistake or an improvement please private message me. I would love an AhoyWorld biography so any member or staff is welcome to write one up.
  11. One of our members has made some fantastic memes in a collection of pictures on our gallery You have to see this!
  12. Following the success of my last "lecture/workshop" i'm actually preparing for this Jux, now to return to topic
  13. I may be available to be commanded, very much up for helping others get into leadership roles. not 100% i can be there but i'll try make it
  14. I'll see what I can do, you've been very cooperative with us so i'll see what happened on our end.
  15. if fast jets win of course, otherwise you'll have to pick something slower paced or risk stalling out of the sky/ circling back to us all the time. If we go slower I'm going KA50, if we go quicker I'm going Mig21 i think
  16. My "best" aircraft changes from week to week at the moment the A10C is pretty hot in my books but the L39 is a great trainer. Don't leave out helicopters either, the Huey is simple enough to enter the genre, has a good campaign and packs a lot of firepower for lighter armed targets. However to answer your forum post with regards to flaming cliffs I'll echo sozio and rave really. SU25T is a valuable aircraft to have on the battlefield although a little bit of a pig to fly at first, flaming cliffs is a great purchase if you just want to get up and go with the advanced flight models but then you miss the fidelity of ASM ((Advanced Systems Modelling)the clickable cockpit essentially).
  17. aye, if we loose too many we'll have to stick with our friends on the existing map
  18. Ahoy! Here marks the return of the fly in. Would you rather take it a little slower and enjoy the scenery? or rip through like a bat out of hell? we'll fly through the bottom of the valleys pushing and pulling our aircraft through the tighter areas of the southern hills of Georgia, however if Nevada is released I'll make a route there instead. Route to be posted closer to the time.

  20. This is correct, we were founded on the principle that anybody can do anything that anybody else can do. for example all players are able to take a pilot slot on EU1 regardless of being on teamspeak or not. Anybody can drop into a platoon commander slot regardless of experience if they want, anybody can use a mortar (in the right slot and at the right moment) there's no exclusives here. That being said a slot exclusive thing is no bad deal, like pilots can only fly helicopters. I've tried a commanding workshop with great interest, if you guys have time you could make another one?
  21. Definitely going, just summing up my travel options. If there are any UK residents that fancy going but don't have a car, you can travel up with me via Hull train station. Catch an overnight ferry and I'll drive the rest. Again it may be cheaper to fly but the option is there.
  22. Well! Overall a great sortie. Our primary objective of disrupting the enemy supply lines was a success and that will affect our next mission of actually retaking the airbase. Svoyy did a great job of suppressing enemy air defence allowing us to keep air superiority, it turns out intelligence was wrong about enemy aircraft, in fact our air cover had literally no trouble keeping the skies on our control, (sorry for the error in intel! i hope you had fun anyway:) ) As my first actual functional night operation I found the buddy lasing system on the A10 a triumph in difficult conditions, I was able to have my flight (charcoal) ride the IR+LSR pointer all the way to the target, of course keeping my flight as safe as possible was my concern so I took out the shilka's but I didn't expect retivis's maverick to land on Christiansen. We heard the call "rifle" over the radio (A term used when a friendly fires a maverick, this is important for those equipped with missile warning systems) Then poof! the maverick actually ended up slaughtering Chris. In fact a common theme throughout was friendly fire and I'm wondering if you guys have any ideas on how to remedy this? Sozio brought a halt to the second convoy and after wiping them out we went home. Great job everyone, sack the mission editor (I'll do better next time, i promise) and watch the friendly fire! Next event will be a fly in, then we continue back with this campaign. Thanks to all those who participated
  23. another fly in? well I'm glad you want one I'll organise one soon then frozty. Thanks for the kind words Ryko
  24. Can't find anything to do with ice cream related to the name niggnogg, you also sign up with an offensive name so i figure you know exactly what you're doing. Topic stays open so that you can all have your opinions either regarding the immaturely named "pedofingers" calling us out to be immature? or whether i need to invest in sponges to clean up all the tears, perhaps even cream for our apparent butthurt. I'm sure you'll find our ban appeal process to be as fair as it has ever been as our team has an independent community referee. In your specific case i can't speak for everyone but we don't want our community associating with paedophilia or racism thank you.
