Squad Engineer

  Currently, as I understand it, only the EOD team can carry explosives, and the only EOD slot really useful is Engineer. I propose replacing the Repair Specialist in each squad with an Engineer slot, and eliminate the EOD team altogether. This way, each squad (there are 5, Alpha through Echo) has the possibility of a slot that can carry explosives and repair vehicles in the field. It seems a more useful arrangement than currently. 

 

And, maybe, someday the bug with the Engineer's 'Refuel Vehicle' option will actually be fixed.

I believe the problem with explosives is just a bug with the arsenal rather than being an intended feature.

All classes can take and use any explosives, but only Demolitions Experts (something like that) can disarm them.

The Engineer is a combination of two roles, the Repair Specialist and the Demolitions Expert, so is obviously superior.

The Demolitions Expert class has very little use in I&A anyway so I think it's about time it gets changed/removed.

I forget how exactly it's laid out now, but maybe the EOD team could be changed to  TL + Demo + 2 Rep, the other Rep classes stay the same (it's an important class), but remove all other Demo classes (one is enough).

i agree on the "Demo Spec" - to me its just a filler to have the Squads setup according to RL ops (in gamey terms)

The EOD on the other hand is one of the best inventions to I+A i witnessed,agreed - pubs dont take the full element of this role into consideration,but its my no2 most played role besides AT and is great fun to handle.

I dont get the EOD engineer,but lets say he´s there to keep the EOD team running transportwise.

 

And i dont applaude a change to EOD team like J suggested - they r a seperate branch and should stick out by name imo (just like now).

Just not entirely correct....

The EOD Engineer CAN disarm mines etc....

But it appears that some places I play may have scripts running that prevent Explosives Spec from doing so, as with a few tests the explosives spec is able to disarm mines also.
There are a few long time players and AW members that were under the same impression as me.

So from now on Scar, rather than being a dick, why not just say something along the lines of;
"Actually, the explosives Spec CAN disarm mines, perhaps you should test it"
instead of just saying;

"Wrong"

A little friendly feedback and correction is something some people welcome when there is a conflicting viewpoint.

Before this gets out of hand (like so many topics have recently), lets just say that Scar should have said a little more than "wrong", and Sniper shouldn't have called him a "dick".

 

Moving on...

Scar why would the EOD team need 3 guys that can disarm explosives? Seems like too much considering it's never even needed in I&A. If you were disagreeing with the names I gave the roles then that's fine I don't really care what they're called I'm just talking about what they can do.

i just took more attention on playing early this morning than stretching my response with some obvious nice words ...

Moving on ...

 

The current setup of the EOD team is :

- Squad Leader (obvious)

- Engineer ( keeps mobility)

- 2x Expl Specialist (detect and disarm mines)

 

Everything else would make no sense at all or is outdated/corrupted scriptage (imo)

How do you calm said "t**ts"? I often used massage with soothing body lotion.

To add to the topic and to answer @IronLance:

 

Currently there are 4 slots that will spawn with explosives (charge or satchel) and can disarm mines.

- Engi

- 2x Explosive specialist

- Recon demo

 

You can circumvent current lack of explosives in arsenal by asking one of the guys above if they can drop you one (satchel or charge) and while you have that one in your inventory you will be able to equip more from arsenal.

 

Or if one of above slot is available, you can join in, stash some explosives inside some vehicle and then rejoin and take it.

 

Hopefully, Arsenal can be fixed for I&A specific use in the future :)

Thus far, I've not heard any good reason NOT to, at the very least, replace the Repair Specialist with an Engineer in the squad slots. You could, also, leave the EOD team as is.

 

I hear this a lot recently, so I'm going to jump on the band wagon as well: I think we should, at least, give it a try and see what happens.

That my saying. But yeah trying stuff out is most of the time a really good way of making sure if it works and when it doesn't the topic is closed.
