Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition

Hey guys,

I and a few other people that I'm aware of own FSX: Steam Ed.

I was thinking perhaps we could maybe even throw together a Gamenight where we have a 747 (Will be Air Force One livery) flies out to Area 51 for a Presidential meeting with a Captain (Me) and a First Officer aboard (vacant). AF1 will be escorted by a few F18's (Default ones kindly added to the Steam Edition), how many F18's will be determined by the amount of people who show interest.

I think this could have the potential to make an awesome video and a fun gamenight.

Let me know what you think.

for those that haven't done the pointless upgrade

It's hardly pointless. Steam Edition is beautiful in comparison to the hard copy version. Everything like textures works now and I run with zero crashes. Steam Edition is a masterpiece.

Haven't had a crash in months & last I checked my textures worked.

Here's why I'm not upgrading:

You're not upgrading because you have wank space left in your HD? Flight Sim Steam Ed only takes up 10gb. Not exactly the ask of the century.

No, because I have roughly 200gb worth of addons, most of which are incompatible with steam edition due to the complex nature. I'd be throwing away too much.

I agree with Dave here. I'm not going to update to Steam Edition as I have far too much invested in the current boxed edition that is not yet compatible with SE. Its the same reason why I've never bothered with P3D.

If at some point in the future, devs are predominately creating content for SE and not the boxed version (which I do see coming), then I will have no choice but to consider the switch. Hopefully by that time the vast majority of the addons I use now will be compatible with SE and I won't have to pay anything to get a SE compatible file (which I've heard isn't the case with P3D, another reason I won't switch).

Until that time arrives, I will be sticking with the boxed edition and so will require FSHost to join in with you guys (which I would like to do).

Meh. It only cost me £3.99 so I decided with the fact the game actually works better now and it has MP support I would go and get it.

But, yeah, sure. The more the merrier!

I'm thinking of trying to actually have this as a gamenight. Is there anything planned in for Saturday as of yet?
