  1. ah. didn't see that :-) just tried, pix are shown with "no permission" icon...? are there any size restrictions for jpegs?
  2. it was good fun blowing stuff up. i spent some time looking at everyones attack runs on the convoys. quite spectacular :-) ...hoping for better weather next time, though ;-) (drag and drop dosn't work so i used imgur.com instead...) cu
  3. a10c, su 27 (you never know...) thx :-)
  4. i own the boxed version. is it compatible with the steam version? if so i'd be interested. ... with an f18, though. boxed version doesn't have an f15, iirc.
  5. was another cool fly-in, thx for hosting it! took a few screenies at the end. i like the aerobatics, i have to say. cool stuff :-) what do you think of this doc: http://static.e-publishing.af.mil/production/1/af_a3_5/publication/afi11-246v1/afi11-246v1.pdf also, would anyone be keen to try a little combat mission for a laugh? i'm currently getting more into dcs thanks also to these flight nights here! i prefer the a10c and the su-27 atm, so if there's anyone out there who'd like to do some coop or pvp stuff let me know :-) cheers, dude
  6. thx again for the input, dingo. just tried that, works like a charm :-) isn't there something like a skin-repository, a zip file maybe, with an assortment of skins i could download and install? or is there no point, really? i find it odd that dcs has so few commonly found multiplayer features (or i just haven't found them yet, i'm new to all this after all), ie killboard, shared paints, server filter.... @raz: is it possibly to have a su-27 reserved at batumi so i can swap after the initial tour? maybe in BESOVETS AFB default colors? maybe someone fancies a little dogfighting?
  7. good idea, dingo. i just did the tour in editor and added all planes. they are all there. no idea why the hawk didnt show last time. thx also, i read that in order to someone elses livery i have to install it on my machine. if every participant posts a link of his paint scheme in his reply i will add them.
  8. an a10c, again, please. also, great map i found: http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/onc/txu-pclmaps-oclc-8322829_f_4.jpg edit: is it possible to fly that skin? http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/de/files/86363/ also, last time i couldnt see the mig15's but had replacement planes instead. any ideas?
  9. +1 for a pawnee as a regular transport pilot i'd say that having one pilot flying a pawnee wouldn't hurt transport at all. choppers are hardly half full most of the time anyways. instead times where helos queue up at base and just wait are plenty or transport pilots chasing after every walking soul to pick up... just look at the evac race when an ao is done. i'm also thinking the pawnee won't be overpowered on the battlefield, mainly because it's paper thin, has no radar lock on anything, meaning it has to go fairly close which makes it really vulnerable. rockets dont even destroy the radio tower either (or so i was told). i see the benefit in the added variety. generally i think that all sorts of arma assets are extremely powerful but due to general lack of coordination and cooperation they hardly ever unfold their potential even if individual skills might be really good. anyhow, just my 2c
  10. hi not sure how popular that is but here is a ts3 addon called "crosstalk" that gives coms a radio-type sound. it's free, very simple to install, it gives a cool effect to ts3 coms and it's totally client side based which makes it ideal for pub sessions (i've seen it being used by some dcs pilots as well). http://addons.teamspeak.com/directory/addon/miscellaneous-plugins/CrossTalk.html https://github.com/thorwe/CrossTalk/wiki/Radio-FX it's a simple install and the features are found in the plugin tab. check "home" at the radio fx module and adjust the sliders to taste. when you have enough of it simply uncheck the "home"-box again. i use these settings: freq range 500/5000 ring mod 0/0,20 destr 10 freq range 600/5000 additionally there's a sound addon called "military radio" that changes the default ts3 sounds and adds a mic-click to give it a more military sound style. http://addons.teamspeak.com/directory/skins/sound-packs/Military-Radio.html if you just want to add mic-clicks here's a tutorial. use google to find different sets of click-sounds :-) have fun.
  11. thanks for hosting this gig! i really enjoyed the event and hopefully there are some more soon. until then i will practise :-) btw: the aerobatics show was really excellent!
  12. hi yesterday, 11.march, saw an epic rampage of a series of teamkillers on eu1. it started with THOR who went mental for about half an hour, killing everything and everyone at base. there was no admin ingame. at some point stuffedsheep showed up and relieved us from this guys sorry existence. big thanks for that! 1 teamkillers: now i have a question: while the idiocy was ongoing i whispered at josh in ts (mainly because i'm not sure who has admin rights or not and because i remembered his name from some forum posts. i apologize, josh, that i disturbed your eu3 game but things were rather desperate on eu1 at the time). he wrote a brief reply which i'm not sure i understood correctly. i got the impression that calling an admin on ingame chat channel is possible. can someone explain how that works? on a side note eu1 was plagued later on by another 2 dimwits (forgot their names, though). we were not able to rally an admin then and eventually i logged off. it was a crazy evening i must say. the degree of madness at base was severe. 2 selfregulation: are there any options other than calling an admin to return the game to normal? there's a vote-to-kick option in game. does that actually work? is there a possibility to vote for an admin who then has a kick authority? how about sniping the guy from outside the base? i know you strongly advise to refrain from ANY such action, but surely you can relate to how frustrating things get, especially when things get as mad as they were yesterday and no effort stops the idiot. at some point, since the teamkiller shot down helis at base constantly (and i was a pilot), i suggested to use an emergency pickup point outside base for continued heli transport to the ao. secure the lz and treat the tk'er as an enemy. i'm not even asking if that is acceptable since the idea didn't fly with the players :-) noone could be asked to walk/drive 1km to get there. people continued to be frustrated at base. teamwork only goes so far, i suppose. so what are the options, really, to deal with idiots ingame (other than logging off, of course)? sorry for the long post but thanks in advance for advice.
  13. i don't believe that any amount of gameplay tweak or feature will make people become teamplayers. either they are or they aren't. ending up with good teamplay experience on a pub server is like winning the lottery imho. so, it is either to find a clan/structured organization (and me sorting out my mods to finally join eu3...) or play along with everyone else. the noteworthy exception in my gaming experience was the early project reality mod, where on-the-fly squad action on public servers (!!!) with people constantly communicating and playing tactically was actually the norm. i haven't seen that in any game since. adshield, the only one alternative i can offer is to try to rally some guys to join you in a "von"-team. i do that occasionally and it does work. it can take quite a while to gather some troops but eventually you can get some team action going and so improve the issues you mentioned. cheers
  14. without an increase in the number of pilot slots i don't see why more choppers would be a problem. i often play early with not so many people online, so the large helos are not needed much (apart from an occasional vehicle transport). those times when i'm online later i would find it useful to have more smaller helos for troop transport. also, wait times for pilots in a queue are shorter. additional small choppers allow for lower and deeper insertions, something less easy or even possible to do with the medium/large helos. so there's extra variety in the type of flying. again, i'd vote for an extra mh9 or two, due to the unrestricted cockpit view, which makes low flying and landing in confined spots much safer. a huge benefit, imho. as for satisfaction: surely it's mainly a few individual pilots who enjoy it, on the other hand a lot of troopers want to be flown on close. i believe that everyone benefits from that. anyhow, it's all good. i have a good time on your server as is. cheers :-)
  15. thanks for all the help! i did follow your instruction, pero, and reverted the fhq accessories to 1.4. i could connect to the game but after selecting a slot i had a "session lost" message again and dropped back to the server screen. i think i'll try the armasync procedure outlined in your how-to-thread. cheers edit: ok, so i followed the instructions as outlined here: http://www.ahoyworld.co.uk/topic/3174-how-to-download-the-allowed-addons-the-modded-addons-new-method/ one thing doesn't fit, though. the instructions mention this: 2. Open the userconfig folder and copy (Ctrl+C) both files within it. in my userconfig folder of the tfar folder there is only one file named: radio_settings.hpp in my userconfig folder of the arma main directory this hpp file is included. so when i start the game it crashes with this message: include file userconfig\task_force_radio\radio_keys.hpp not found seems like i'm missing the radio keys file. but i just updated with armasync.... any ideas?
  16. thx for the quick reply. i just checked my mod collection and it shows fhq accessories v1.5. it's labeled green not orange, so it looks to me to be the latest version. is it not? is V1.5 a newer one? also, if 1.4 is required, how can i downgrade in the six-launcher? also, i do not have an mrt mod in the mod pack. as i said i followed the link posted in the forum (see first post) and that's what i downloaded. is this modpack uptodate? again, appreciate the help :-) edit: i just googled around, i can't find a 1.4 version to download...
  17. greetings, i downloaded all 28 mods through playwithsix (http://play.withsix.com/arma-3/collections/ZIfcBTmVC0OIPo8etglEOA/AhoyWorld-Modded-Collection-Stuffedsheep). i get onto the server, select a slot and immediately get thrown out to the mp screen with a "session lost" message. can anyone help? i'm really keen to get on the modded server. many thanks in advance :-)
  18. +1 for additional little birds it lends itself much better for noe type flying which is more fun than driving a school bus, aka mohawk or similar. plus, given the great view out front it makes for safer landings which the troopers appreciate :-) cheers
  19. greetings all, i have spent quite a few hours flying choppers on your server recently. i want to share some observations regarding selection of LZ's: 1. too close troopers hate to walk, i guess. i prefer to keep 1km away from the ao in order to avoid getting shot down by vehicles. as the battle progresses and own troops secure more and more terrain moving the lz forward becomes feasable. 2. bad choice of terrain lz's are often chosen on a front slope facing the ao and all it's lurking apc's, vehicle cannons, infantry guns and whatnot. arma maps are awesome. it's easy to recognize terrain features meaning one can select a covered lz, i.e behind a ridge or similar. 3. impatience troopers don't like to wait. some think i'm their personal cab driver. i'm not. personally, i ferry a minimum of 2 guys (so they can support each other on their enterprise). also, changing the destination midflight requires some adjustments the pilot needs to make which take time, too, such as referring to the map, planning an ingress/egress route and, of course talking/typing in chat. 4. the hilltop a seemingly favourite lz is any given hilltop. i mean seriously! people love to bunch up on a peak and snipe down for an hour. hilltops are crap. they are obvious features in the countryside and any halfbaked enemy will have his own sights on them, too. being a little more creative and choosing different terrain from which to attack an ao is fun, too. fire and maneuvre, you know... 5. extraction dont just type " i need extraction". that's not much information for a pilot. mark a preferred pickup point on the map and be ready with a smoke grenade (one is enough). throw it when the chopper arrives (when you hear it) and tell the pilot which color of smoke you just popped (in case there is other smoke in the area, which maybe you don't even see yourself). and then some observations on pilot etiquette: with 5 or so pilots all shuffling troopers back and forth i'd like to see a little more team spirit, meaning if a chopper arrives at base second let the helo which already sits there take off first. if you're booked by a squad for an individual task that's different, but other than that hang back a little. it's a team game after all. that was it. i haven't seen any guidance or instruction how you prefer the piloting on your server to be conducted. so please add or correct anything i posted here. until then this here is at least something i prefer doing. i found that it also helps getting more troopers to the frontline alive :-) cheers
