Hello and welcome to the revised ACE Medical Guide: 2020 Edition.

This guide aims to be a comprehensive resource for the dedicated medic; to steel yourself with knowledge first so that you can hone it in combat. It will send you on a journey to become the best medic you can be.
It does not offer panacea. That's just called a packing bandage. It does offer the basis you need to understand the inner and outer workings of ACE Medical with an attempt to dispel some common myths.

You can find two proven sample loadouts at the very end of the document, as well as a spreadsheet with all the data there is about bandages.

For an easier read, here it is on Google Docs.
Link: ACE Advanced Medical Guide v2.3 (2020 Rework)

The GDoc is always going to be the most up-to-date version, but if you prefer PDF, here you are:
The PDF is now very much outdated. I will update it with the 2.4 revision, which will include a flowchart and procedure.

    Hello everyone,

my name is Flintenfritz, im 32 and from Germany. I played a bit on the AW servers and it was such a good atmosphere and teamwork, it convinced me to get back into Arma. Im a long time arma player and Arma games are best when they are near the end of their development. So i stopped after the switch from Arma2 to 3 somewhere in 2014. With a bit of dusting of i think i can play every role in the game and have fun while doing so. I can do medic, at , mg, driver, gunner, pilot, with a bit of time Arty, mortar, UAV, squadlead and radio. Im mostly interested in the eu3 server with full blown mods, radio and a commandstucture. But without getting full milsim (i dont want to learn a unreasenable amount of ranks for example) but im fine with training or preparing a role before an Event.
Yeah enough talking. Hope we have an awesome time on the Battlefield!

That is correct! you use over to indicate that your message has finished and the other person can reply and out to indicate that the transmission/conversation has ended. But by saying that your transmission/conversation has ended (=out) you are also implying that your message is finished aswell. So this part of over is already covered by out. But I am pretty sure they never used the phrase "over and out" if they were milsim!

Can be found in the Basic Introduction - guide together with an example-conversation. (This one is very good for getting started)
Another very good guide on that can also be found in the MSO-subforum (more milsim-ish than AWE). This one also features example-conversations but also includes the so called Prowords: https://forums.ahoyworld.net/topic/9050-sop-radio-protocols-and-conduct/ (This one is definitly not mandatory for the beginning on AWE but very nice if you aim for the leadership-roles since they come hand in hand with a lot of radio-comms.)

Definitly! Here at AWE we are using TFAR for multiple reasons.

And if you need any more assistence with mods, etc then just find me on TS or send me a message, etc. Tomorrow I will definitly be on TS again.

    A small topic about Mortars

This video of mine explains the following methods of zeroing in a mortar:
    Calculation Range table
    It also features:
Using map-grid for target acquisition Terrain Elevation Map tools (Mills, bearing, distance)
    Why you want this:
More precise control Low angle and High angle attack ETA to impact Precise Bearing and Elevation numbers Allows for blind firing So you're no longer an artillery computer scrub
    Download the Artillery Sheet here:

    The video explains it all:
Map techniques are interwoven with the methods.
    0:47 - 6:52 Artillery Sheet method (Map Grid + GPS + Contour Levels) 6:52 - 9:12 82mm Range table Method (Maptools)

    UPDATE 1-1-2016 Fire Mission Routine:

When operating in the some of the cramped environments like we tend to do at times, it's important to follow proper Fire Discipline to avoid friendly casualties when firing artillery shells. It takes time for shells to impact at the designated location so make sure you give friendlies enough time to retreat or prevent them from moving up when shells are danger close.

Here's an example fire mission that includes all the options (adjust, repeat):

    Update 23-12-2017 Mortar Trajectory Explained:

With this update I've included 4 plots that explain how the mortar trajectory works and how one should compensate the trajectory for uphill and downhill shooting.

First we look at the angle the mortar fires at. Increasing the elevation we can fire at things closer to us. If we lower the elevation we can get a bit more distance out of the mortar.

We now look at how the charge of the mortar affects its trajectory. A bigger charge allows us to reach out further when we keep the elevation constant. We can also use this to our advantage. For example, if there is a really big mountain in the way perhaps it's wise to select a bigger charge so you know you will clear the mountain.

Now lets look at the theory behind shooting a target above or below you. First we tackle a target above the mortar:

When we use the maptools we can get a range to the target of dx. However, since the target is above us we can see that if we were to dial in the mortar for that distance dx we would shoot the red trajectory and hit in front of the target. Therefore we need to adjust our elevation downwards so we can hit the target. The range table gives an adjustment in 100m height difference intervals. If there is only a 50-meter difference feel free to just divide the adjustment given by the range table in half or interpolate for other differences. However, a height difference of 10 to 20 meters relative to your own height shouldn't really cause any issues, and adjustment is considered optional.

Downhill shooting is very similar to uphill shooting. However, instead of lowering our elevation we increase our elevation as shown in the following diagram. The indicated numbers on the range table for adjusting the mortar work similarly, but instead we now adjust in the other direction.

Understanding the trajectory of your mortar shells is very important to minimize civilian/blufor casualties and to get pinpoint accuracy. That said, the further your target is away the larger the deviations will be, so don't expect pin-point accuracy on targets beyond 1.5km

Thanks Xwatt looking forward to play with u guys too.
And thanks a bunch for the links Noah. I will start digging into it right now.
I was once with I think an Irish milsim Platoon as a guest and they had over for end of message and out for end of transmission. But now im not sure if they said over and out or just out at the end . My radio skills really need some refreshment . But if u get the hang of it I think Acre or TFAR bring the most emersion u can get in a single mod besides ACE.
  9. Thanks

    Hello @Flintenfritz,

nice to welcome another german to AhoyWorld!
Since you said that you are interested in EU3 (wich is by now "renamed" to AhoyWorld Enhanced or short AWE) I can provide you with a few links to allow you for a smooth start!

First of all if you want to find out a little bit more about AWE you can find our Subforum here: https://forums.ahoyworld.net/forum/86-enhanced-server-information-and-discussion/ In that one you can also find the rules/core principles of AWE. Make sure to read and understand these ones and to decide for yourself if you think you can play by these ones on AWE since it wont make any sense to play if you don´t like the idea of the server. You can find these ones here: https://forums.ahoyworld.net/topic/9185-awe-rules/ If you decided for yourself that you think that you agree with our rules/core principles the next step to get on AWE is to download the mods and set up TFAR (a needed TS-plugin that simulates radio-communication). To make this easier for you there is a pretty good guide that can be found here: https://forums.ahoyworld.net/topic/3174-how-to-install-the-ahoyworld-enhanced-and-public-mods-install-tfar/ When all the mods are installed you can nearly start playing on AWE but to allow you for a smoother start and so you can do something while the mods are downloading I would recommend reading a bit through our AWE-guides-section. There you can find all different kinds of guides so you don´t have to learn everything on the fly when ingame. You can find the guides here: https://forums.ahoyworld.net/forum/96-guides/ But to finally get on the server you need the IP aswell as the password. Both can be found here: https://forums.ahoyworld.net/topic/8254-ahoyworld-aweeu3-server-ip-password/ If all these points are done feel free to hop onto the server! If you´ve got any further questions feel free to ask!
Also don´t worry AWE isn´t milsim. The idea is that Arma is a game and also should be played as such but obviously in an organized way that heavily focuses on teamplay. So yes there is time for joking around a bit, etc but keep in mind that you should play as serious as possible while beeing as casual as needed to keep it fun.

And by the way: NEVER say "Over and Out"! Since when you say "over" you expect and answer from the other person but when you say "out" you don´t expect an answer and just want to make clear that this communication has ended for now. So when you are saying "over and out" you are actually saying that you want an answer from the other person while also saying that you don´t want an answer since you are saying that the conversation has ended.

    Best regards
    Noah
