  1. Is there a way to change the countermeasures on the Littlebird? Currently the LWIRCM are very ineffective at actually fending off incoming missiles. More often than not it renders the CAS-LB useless as you practically get shot down with every incoming SAM.

As soon as you deploy the countermeasures it fires off those 120 LWIRCMs which might just keep one missile from hitting you but as soon as you get locked on a second time you will get hit and shot down. Even if the chaff/flares are still being auto-deployed.

For me it started as a flavour element, just like how I carried atropine even though it's completely redundant. However, once I switched from a mix of IVs to only saline, I noticed something peculiar: I repeatedly lost track of the amount of IVs I had on me.

What carrying both kinds does is it halves the effort you spend on attention towards counting your bags. I don't look at my inventory at all, or very rarely, because I know I only have so many things on me.

If you started out with 6x 500 ml bags, at any given point you may have between 1 and 6 only judging from the medical menu. Carrying 2x3 tells you at a glance that you'll always have at least 2 as long as you have both entries in the menu. If you then intentionally alternate between the two fluid types, you create a subconscious rhythm that lets you keep track of your supplies much more easily.

Edit: The same applies to why I carry all three volumes instead of only 500 ml or 1000 ml. One, I can send off people with a BP of 105/78 with a single 250 ml bag, but two, I have more entries to directly remind me of my supplies -- all without ever checking my backpack.

I see. Yeah, I stopped carrying Atropine for the same reason. Don't even get me started on the actual medical realism of the medications/medical system compared to real life.. Carrying two types of volume adds to much clutter to my backpack. But I guess that is a taste thing.

The only volume I've ever run out of was 1000ml, but after that occasion I started carrying like 3 or 4 of those.

You beat me to writing a guide <_<;). Was playing with the thought of doing so after seeing quite a lot of players wanting to try medic but not knowing how to effectively do so. Medic is definitely my second favourite role after vortex :P

Just to play devil's advocate here: when you're in the heat of battle, or are trying to advance or retreat or get clear of a mortar strike or whatever, you tend to lose track of random comments you make; especially if you're not push-to-talk. My comment above is what I say pretty subconsciously now, upon every injury I encounter. I know the medic's got it covered, and I know things will be back to status quo five minutes from that point, but I still tell the medic to heal the wounded.

Thing is that it was at a temporary "green zone" where we went to get resupplies/ammo/medical. There was no battle going on, everyone was busy either rearming or getting patched up.

Easy solution: call an admin/moderator because that guy was somehow breaking rule "Nr. 9 First medic is always in charge" to get idiots like him kicked/banned.:) Or that he at least receives an official warning<_<

But yeah that's what I do and would do if I was you: someone's breaking rules -> call an admin!:)

Also if you remember his name you can still report him for his behavior: go to player tools->whistle->report player. Then fill out the form and as evidence you at least have DeVision. Maybe it helps maybe not but at least admins will probably keep an eye on him when they heard his name because of rule breaking once ;):)

*Edit*: Also you could argue with rule "Nr. 8 Play your role" since he probably wasn't doing that when he was giving you orders.

I'm not sure and I don't want to point fingers at anyone if I'm not 100% solid on who it was. But next time that happens I'll definitely consider it. We just told him to fuck off and continued treating our patient. @DeVision, do you remember who it was?

  5. The following describes a situation often encountered in real life and also while playing on the server (AWE).

Medics arrive on scene and start treating a patient. Bystanders will gather round and in most cases even tell the medics what they should do and what the 'best' treatment for the patient is.

One situation that I have in mind was when @DeVision and I were playing as AMedic and BMedic and arrived to treat a heavily wounded and unconscious patient on the battlefield. As soon as we arrived and started treating the patient together, splitting up our work and working perfectly in sync, someone approached us from behind and started telling the both of us what we should do, what bandages we should use and that we have to get a blood transfusion running to get the patient back on his feet. All while everyone else was rearming and getting ready for the second push.

Now I realize that it's just a game and that the consequences are not as severe as in real life but that particular guy really got our blood going. Don't treat the medics as if they are completely stupid and incompetent. If we wouldn't know what we are doing, we'd take a different role or ask someone to guide us. Medics have totally different and more advanced capabilities of providing life support than a regular soldier. Let them do their job and do yours. We're not gonna tell a marksman how he should zero his rifle or tell ASL how they should command their squads..

Anywho, sorry for the rant but I had to get this out of my system cause shit like this really gets me going...

In my opinion we don't need that.

I for example just have a letter in front of me where I write stuff down down like the most important things from the briefing, wich vortex is doing what, etc. That solves the problem of not knowing who is doing what + it's without any coding + provides you even more information + is perfectly adjustable as you want to.;)

That is some top notch shit! I really like that and I think more people should do the same when playing in command roles. Saves everyones time, avoids a lot of confusion and is really easy to implement..

  7. *thinks about all the awesome Ace Combat callsigns* :rolleyes:

But seriously, what about the problem when there is only one pilot online that has to switch between CAS and transport? Are his callsigns gonna change every time he changes his role/vehicle? If yes I feel that that will add more confusion and unnecessary radio clutter eg. "Vortex switching to Talon", "Talon 1 switching to Vortex 1". Vehicle based callsigns sound good when there are enough pilots online but I think that we should rather have the pilot squads have different and neutral callsigns independent of their role.

Yeah I've seen this happen repeatedly for @hobnob . Pain in the rear end, perhaps try and use the black hawk, Super Stallion or Merlin moving forward?

Sent from my ONEPLUS 3T using a phone app that is really irritating because it constantly advertises itself.

When I get around to it i'll try those and see whether I can reproduce the bug.

Which brings me to another question I've always had: How heavy is that crate/Which helicopters can actually sling it?

  9. Just encountered some weird behavoiur when slinging a load with the Chinook. We just did the mission where you have to retrieve the slung cargo and when I tried to fly back to base it dropped three times. The weird thing were the speeds it aborted the sling loading: it happened at 120km/h, at 73km/h and at 30km/h aswell. Now you should know that I was flying a straight line and wasn't doing any fancy maneuvres. So the cargo wasn't swinging around or anything.

I know there's a certain max speed when slinging cargo but that wasn't anywhere near the speeds I was flying at..

Has anyone noticed anything similar before?

First of all: Thank you guys for all the help you offered!!:)

Now to the result of testing the GPU in a friends computer: Same problem as in my computer => the GPU seems to be indeed broken.:(:(

Aw, sucks. But at least you now know for sure.. Plus it's a pretty good excuse for an upgrade ;);)

hmm, not sure. When it first happened I was testing Hitboxes of vests in the virtual arsenal so there shouldn´t been a lot of working load/temperature. It also happened later when the PC was completely cooled down when I was just on the desktop so there also wasn´t a high temperature/working load.

I see.. Hmmm.. Maybe the thermal paste is old and therefore it overheated even with little load..

You said that your PC won't even start with the GPU in, right? Are you getting any beeping noises when trying to turn it on? Or more specifically, are you getting any beep codes?

Have you also tried fully uninstalling your Nvidia drivers and reinstalling them?

You could also try resetting your BIOS. You can do this by taking that little battery out of your motherboard, waiting a minute and putting it back in again. All while your PC is turned off ofcourse.
