All 66% off It will be discount for 1 week till september 7th Its a shame i bought apex last sunday, and steam wouldnt redund it to me. Ah well, bought the dlc bundle 1 now since its not even 6 euro. Bundle 2 comes when the time is come
  2. Its not that an englishman can't speak english, its the fact that most of the time they speak english english, a sadly not so rare language only the english inhabitants can understand and not everyone else who can speak understandable english ? Bit, as you say, all sacndinavian people i have met can speak english very good..
  3. Looks good. And too put them all in one squad, maybe this would be an idea: Squad Alpha: Fireteam 1: - Squad Leader (Sgt), is also a rifleman with 40mm. Next too leading his squad will be the 1st fireteam leader when splitted. This guy will be carrying the long-range radio. - Autorifleman (Pvt), will be carrying heavy firepower. Everything you will need to suppress the enemy. - EOD (Sgt), as this person is in the first fireteam. The SL can use him too walk up front too scan for mines and IED's, or use him as a rifleman. Since every soldier is a rifleman. Rank: Sergeant/Sergeant-Major. Not that he will lead the team, but this is basicly just the rank specialists have in EOD. - Rifleman (Pvt), basicly an allrounder. It depends on the mission what SL wants from him. Can be a regular rifleman, a pointman with a shotgun, a rifleman LAT or a grenadier. Fireteam 2: This fireteam will be under command of the SL when the whole squad is acting together, or if SL decides will be a seperate fireteam and then the Fireteam Leader will be in command of this fireteam. - Fireteam Leader (Cpl), just like the SL he is a rifleman with 40mm. Hebis not carrying a long range radio, but the shortrange radio with a little more range then the normal rifleman radio (dont know the name) Will be second in command. If squad leader dies, this is the guy the rest has too listen too. - Autorifleman (Pvt), just like the one in fireteam 1, provides the heavy firepower. - Marksman (Cpl), will be the guy that takes on ranged enemy's. Can be used as a spotter on high ground. But remember, this guy is not a sniper. He probably knows a bit (or a lot) aboit sniping, but snipers act alone with there spotter. The marksman is basicly a rifleman who walks with the squad/fireteam but is more skilles in taking down enemys on the long range (above the normal 300/400 meter). So this guy should carrying a weapon with scope too engage both close range and long (under, lets say, 1000 meters) range. - Combat Medic (Cpl), will be the best guy you have ever meet. As the name says, will heal you when you fucked up. Will be in fireteam 2, but if fireteam 1 needs this guy, he has too run like hell. All depends on what the SL says. Has to be in the back at all times so he will be shot last. Of course he is carrying a riflemso he is basicly a rifleman too (but not on front). Chain of command: 1. Squad Leader 2. Fireteam Leader 3. EOD/Medic 4. EOD/Medic 5. Marksman 6. Autorifleman 1 7. Autorifleman 2 8. Rifleman Based on the skill I think you will need. Where 8 is the lowest and 1 is the highest. So in this setup you have (almost) all you need. The grenadier is left out since the SL and FT got 40mm. And rifleman can play as grenadier if SL wants. Only thing you don't have is the ability to repair vehicles. Because you don't have an engineer. For explosives you have the EOD, normally it's not his job to walk up front searching, but he is more then capable of doing this. Normaly he will only carry demolition blocks to be the man that 'bloes shit up that blows shit up'. But because he is badass, SL can decide that he has too take some mines aswell. What we have here is a small but versatile squad. All depends on the mission. Pro's are that the squad lead can see everyone in his ctab. Only thing he has too do at the start is giving his fireteam colors (or maybe this could be automatically?)
  4. I'll get a giant boner when my beloved bombsuit and talon are added.. (i'll switch from marksman to always eod then )
  5. In stiletto altis. The town directly south of the base. That isnt occupied right now. We talked about that yesterday real quick, and it would be nice to have that occupied too. So you have to keep those guys friendly or else bad things will come at the base
  6. This... I am very happy with .. question. The hvt mission. Right now, when you kill him you always have to check his inventory to be sure it is the right person. Is it possible to create something that when you have positive id on him, that i mean when you fully see him in yoir scope, that the mission will be succeeded? I am asking this because it's a nice sniping mission, only problem (i had it this afternoon) is that when you kill him on a distance you have to go there. And that was very hard when you are there with only a sniper(team) and have to encounter the patrols. Or could be a nice side mission (not needed for the end mission to spawn). Nice to try when there are not that many people online
  7. Wait, how can you even hear you tfar when in the battlefield ? As with the mods. Would be nice to have some better sounds. I played on a server with those mods and i had terrible lag. But it could be one of them, never testes cos right then i heard of awe. But, if it will cause on my side i won't use them. But I do like it if the oppotunity will be there.
  8. Haha. I know. I bought this cheap ass keyboard a long time ago. Its doing fine, sometimes not. But its ok. The thing I want in a new keyboard is some extra keys (like the logitech G keys ) to put some usefull keybindings on. And since the keyboard is never going anywhere, might as well have it wired. Dont need the fancy mechanical too expensive keyboards
  9. Ah well, might as well share mine then: Case: Cooler Master CM690 III Closed Cpu: Intel Core i5-4690 boxed 3,5 Ghz Motherboard: ASRock B85M Pro4 GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 970 4Gb RAM: 16Gb DDR3 Crucial Ballistics Sport 1600Mhz HDD: 1x Samsung 850 EVO 500Gb SSD, 1x Toshiba DT01ACA300 3Tb SATA-600 Power supply: Seasonic S12G 450W Cooling: Scythe Mugen 4 Monitor: 2x Ilyama G-Master Black Hawk GE2488HS-B2 Keyboard: Trust Wireless keyboard Mouse: Logitech G502 Proteus Headset: Logitech H600 Wireless Future planning: - 7.1 Headset - 3rd monitor - Other keyboard (wired, cos batterys sucks)
  10. Newsflash: its working, maybe its just the time or it could be the following: - quit steam - start steam - try again (fingers crossed)
  11. Had the same problems, normally restarting arma and armasync will help, but this time battleeye is being a dick
  12. Maybe up it to 600 secs (10mins) just a little bit more time to do your thing, and not too much after all i guess so that it will impact server performance sometimes searching the bodys takes a while longer because you are still fighting his friends of
  13. Thanks. Wasnt aware of that. Thought the mission was always located on the server. Gotta look at that when im back on my computer
  14. Alright, thx for the reply. I just keep doing the same as now then.. No problem..
  15. Hi there, In the short time I am playing on the AWE server I am trying to sort out some basic loadouts for the roles I like to play. I do this in the virtual arsenal (not on the server). I went to the server. Picked a role, saved the basic loadout in my virtual arsenal and then I am making it a bit more personal (at least Im alwayd wearing the awesome combat beard). One problem with that is, in my own virtual arsenal I can pick everythig the modpack and the game has to offer, But, in the server some things aren't allowed and other things like different weapons amd gear are just for some roles. I've searched on the forums for a complete list that says wich gear is allowed (also per role) and which is not. And I found a link. Unfortunatley it didn't work anymore. So now my question is, is there an up to date list? And is it the same for all maps/mission or does gauntlet and stiletto had different lists? Really like to see whats on the list.
  16. The only role right now I use 2 scopes is marksman. the normal one doesnt support nightvision. So when the mission is expected to take longer and into the night i bring a spare scope that has only nightvision, or else im fucked ?
  17. Ah crap.. did i miss something? Will watch the video later on this day (after disconnecting due to freakin battleeye problems for 4 times i gave up)
  18. Thanks for the reply and reading it. 1. IED's If right now the problem is that it will probably be bad for server performance. Please don't add it. I think nobody wants less fps. Maybe, in the future there will be an event handler on IED's in future updates, if not, too bad then. 2. Humanitarian aid I like the idea you have there. Asking a civilian what he needs. Would be nice if it can be implemented. About the weapond and ammo. I dont think that will be very realistic. Yes, in real time countrys got weapond from others. Look at vietnam and afghanistan. Most of the times it was behind the scenes by countrys like russia and the usa (not going further with this sensitive political, but well known fact ?). But as far as I know, no riflesquad had ever given weapond to civilians. Yes, like the afghan national army and police was equiped with that kind of stuff but not civilians. We don't want to take part in arming civilians right? Most of the time we want to disarm them. My opinion? Stick it with food, water, medical supplys. 3. Medics Good point. I forgot about the angel squad. And yes, like I said, it is how it's done in reallife, but ingame you really don't want to wait long, get the action going. But hey! This is just my opinion, and I am only playing on this server for 1 week. There are alot of others who are playing a long time here.
  19. Sorry about not quoting, im on my freakin phone and its pretty hard to just quote some of a message on the small screen About the fact if civilians notice if an IED is gone and if they like it or not? It depends on the civilian. Afghan civis are different as I hope we should all know by now. Some of them hate that there are NATO forces in there country, and some absolutely love us, or somewhere between that. In real life, when you render save an IED in a town, a lot of civis are thankfull of that, some of them are not but they are related to the taliban, and you should watch out for them. It could be because they are afraid for the taliban because they will probably murder them and there family because the covo is helping NATO forces or the civis get paid by taliban (more then nato does). doesnt matter what reasons there are. But civis will notice it almost directly if you render safe an ied. Why? If I am living in a small town, i immediatly know when there are foreign troops coming into my neighboorhood. Just as i know when taliban is planting an ied in fromt of my uncles house. So when EOD is doing his things, i will look out of my window made of camel shit to see what they are doing. Well, i think you get the point by now. so it will definitly not take months for me to notice if they are gone or not. Only thing to take into account is: will inbe happy or not, am i friendly to nato or to taliban, or do i just want to live my life, protect my family and hate taliban and nato together. Many factors that play a role there. now i know, all those human factors are nice in real life, but not in a game. (Or maybe there is somekind of random option to put on civis related to karma) then, medical supplys and other humanitairian stuff. maybe? When the new dlc is out (not sure if everyone has to buy it then) yoi can have random missions where there is a red cross organisation present in a town (maybe after you had a mission there and fucked up the whole town). that organisation has put up a small point with some tent to give out food and medical supplys. And of course, as good as nato is, we provide protection for the convoys that bring them new supplys. Grab a truck, put hose actual supplys in the back, drive them to the red cross camp, deliver, get the hell out of there, and in the meantime shoot some bad guys in there caves. lets say you can load up a maximum of 10 crates. If you are smart you devide them over multiple trucks. Cos if 1 gets blown up you still have some left. the more crates you can deliver, the more karma you get at the civilians (and maybe at the new red cross/ldap faction so you get more convoy missions from them) last point. The medics. I dont know how its like in the British Army since I never really worked with them. But in the regular dutch army its usually like this. - Rifleman: Basic medical training. Putting on bandages, cat's, emergency transport, trying to get the guy breathing again (dont know the english word for it) - Combat Life Saver: A rifleman with some more medical training. Usually 1 or 2 on a squad. Besides he basic stuff he is often also allowed to put in stuff like bloodbags. I think this is just the medic in arma. His goal is to keep a person alive until an AMV or doctor comes in. - AMV Algemeen Militair Verpleegkundige (in english? I think it just means military nurse). Most of the times located in a (field)hospital and is just like a normal nurse in a normal hospital. Working under a doctor and doing all kinda of advanced stuff. But, they also go with convoy's or other missions. Its depending on what kind of mission it is, when you operate with more squads and all that stuff they have there own squad (usually a driver (private), a nurse (sergeant) and a corporal who helpes the nurse (i think he has cls training). they have there own medical vehicle to treath wounded in the field. and yes, if shits hit the fan, and wounded soldiers cant get back up there feet due to being injuired to much, and, when its critical, they need immeadiatly medevac. so, when i look into this, i guess british army has something similair to this, its probably almost the same as we work right now on the server. rifleman already have the basic bandage stuff and shit. now you need another rifleman who can act as a conbat life saver. We have that, since that is the medic in a squad. maybe you can add a medic squad with the nurse in it (AMV). The platoonleader can decide atthe beginningof a mission if they need he medic squad or not. since its possibly to have different medic options if on the field or in a car. A squad medic (cls) can keep the wounded person alive till the medic vehicle comes driving in ( or you have to evac the guy to the vehicle), then simply handover the guy to the nurse, and turn back into action. then its up to the nurse in the vehicle to treat the wounded person further. if the wounded person needs surgery, that aint possibly in the vehicle, you then need a medevac to the base hospital. Ok, maybe this is all too much for just the game, but it really adds more realism.
  20. Hey maik, nice to have you on the server. Im new on the server too, and nee to ace3 and all the mechanics. things I do for learning? open the editor, spawn in some stuff, enable the ace stuff, and start fucking around. You can spawn in some enemys or make very simple missions for yourself. Get yourself shot a couple of times and try to medic yourself also, play different roles. and make sure you startup arma with the modset thats included on the server also a good tip i found out is very good. Is the ace3 advanced ballistics mod. Its a scenario where you have the virtual arsenal and can spawn in different sorts of targets especially good for sniping and trying the advanced ballistics stuff, but also for launchers, mortars etc. there are options to show your bullet trace. Very good for learning why you arent hitting something. when im free from work at the day, i join the server when noone is around, so i get to know he missions and maps. mostly at the beginning of the evening there are about 5 people around. Experienced guys who will help you out if asked. later on in the evening the server gets a bit more crowded and the fun starts. Havent been playing myself very much in the only week im in, but it sure sounds as a great community with guys who help you out and talk shit (things i love) in short: go to editor, spawn stuff in, get to know the ace menu and all the extra stuff what comes with the mods. And then just start playing, guys will help you if asked
  21. So what about the insurgents.. is stiletto on all maps? Or only in the afghanistan like map? If so, do we have taliban fighters on the server? Cos I never saw a taliban insurgent walking in hawai shirts ? Im really new to this server so maybe its something i dont know yet?
  22. O yes. The drones. Forgot about that. Would be nice if in a while they will be modded to actually drop small grenades. We really need the isis faction on the servers then ?
  23. So, 2 days ago the makers gave us more intel about the upcoming DLC what was first named Orange and now goes under the name 'Laws of War' Interested to hear your thoughts about this. My opinion? The new faction with all the humanitarion stuff sounds nice, I dont think its gonna be used much, but its sure a nice addition. I could see missions where you have to escort those LDAP guys or rescue some of them after there 'make food and water not war' plan goes wrong. Protect them while they are doing their thing or something. But, what im more interested in (mainly because of my reallife background in it) is the stuff they add to the game (not in dlc but for everyone). The added possibility for UXO's and laying minefields. It could be added to the current missions (talking about gauntlet and especially stiletto on AW#3 server). Wouldnt it be nice to have area denial minefields? They could be already known and shown on the map or they coupd be unknown. Walking and driving off the road would be more dangerous (just like real afghanistan etc.). Planning your direction of approach would be a little bit sifferent when you have to account for (possible) minefields and/or UXO's. And talking about thise UXO's. When you ask for artillery, after the strike, its not 100% its still safe. Uxo's of your own 155mm shells could still be there. I hope you can set the chance of being an uxo to each type of ammo. Newer munition is beter then old russian shit where there is a much greater chance of not exploding.
  24. Borrel

    Hey there

Alright, seems like this is a good habit to do. Playing the game under my name 'Marcel' Still deciding to change it to my nickname 'Borrel'. But it seems every english talking guy on the server can pronounce my name pretty well. Started playing arma when it was still the first version of the game named Operation Flashpoint. Not played that much and quit playing for a couple of years. Last couple of weeks I picked it up again. In the meantime always playing fps games and stuff. Dont like the vanilla game, its too 'gamy'. Like playing realism so after a lot of searching i found this eu3 server. Best thing ever. 29 years old, reallife in the army myself (dutch army) so the army things about the game is what i know, only the game mechanics (still trying to remember all the keybindings and some of the other mechanics that are on the server)
  25. What about a dedicated EOD squad? remove the eod from the normal squads. Give them engineers. squad can consist of: 1 eod officer (squad leader) 1 engineer / eod corporal 2 rifleman for protection they could have there own vehicle or get taken with them in a helicopter when there are ieds found in the area infantry squads/engineer can mark the ied and continue on mission. Eod will clear them. would be just like the real world. (Dont know about the rifleman but its like with the eod guys)
