  1. Just a bit o a rant..... why is it that Bravo always get the "you will be the bait", or "your job is to take the bullets" missions? Is there a lack of creativity on the part of PlatCos that they can't seem to think of another mission for Bravo? That said, playing as Bravo SL the last couple of missions has been fun. Hang in there Bravo!

    "Tell it to daddy Karate"

Loving the blood all over the place!
  3. I will eventually get to ASL..... just need some more practice and experience as a TL and operating under a few different ASLs to learn the good and the bad. In the meantime I'll just hold my urge to fire Hunt IRs over every wall! Thanks to all who replied.
  4. Naughty naughty admins..... Can TL's get Hunt IR monitors please?
  5. In my opinion, the Hunt IR is a tactical tool which should be available for use by TLs. For example, it would be very useful to make a quick tactical decision on the best way to clear a compound, or to see what's behind that ridge. On a slightly different note, I've found that some people with "special privileges", ie. Admins, give themselves access to Hunt IR Monitors and other nice gadgets which the rest of us don't get access to.
  6. Thanks all for the replies. Yes, it will be a new hardware purchase and a clean install. Now to start shopping....
  7. Right now TLs can get the Hunt IR round, but not the monitor : (
  8. Can Team Leads get Hunt IR monitors, please?
  9. I am planning on going for a hardware update soon - I want to make sure my profile is preserved, along with keybindings, etc. Can someone who knows more about Arma files than me (probably most 8+ year olds) tell me what files I need to copy/paste into the new Arma install? Many thanks in advance. (Hope this is in the right forum)
  10. All other things permitting, I will be there. I like the lead roles and hope to get better at them.
  11. Great news. Unfortunately I will miss it as I will be travelling for 2+ weeks (getting the Arma shakes already).
  12. Thanks to everyone who responded to my thread and also to the people that contacted me directly. I will be offline for about two weeks but will pick this back up on my return.
  13. @D34TH Nice shots from last night's game... shortly before we were slaughtered by that tank because our own tank went on a sight seeing trip!
  14. I know there's a plan to continue with the AWE training nights (and a specific thread for these), but in the meantime, I'd like to propose an idea. I like to think that I am no longer a complete noob on AWE - my only qualification is that I am actually answering questions from new people and teaching them a few things - and I'd like to offer up arranging a "Newbie hour" every now and then. The way I see this working is, I would enlist (probably through begging and nagging) an admin/very experienced guy (I'm talking guys like @Lost Bullet, @S0zi0p4th, @BloodInTheSand, @Amentes - just to name a few - all of whom I can thank for what they've taught me) and get together with the new guys who want to join us and take them through the basics + maybe some small skirmish with Zeus'd in enemies a few km from base (not a Gauntlet mission). This would give them a chance to learn, practice and get to ask questions without feeling the pressure of messing up in a Gauntlet mission or working in a squad. Again, no intent to replace the more intensive training missions, just an hour of practice, learning without interfering with guys who want to play. Appreciate any thoughts/comments. Also would like to hear from the newbies, would this be useful?
  15. Some ASLs and TLs will die... a lot. Others will hardly be affected!
  16. @Chuck Norris can you give us an idea of what the changes will mean?
  17. I think this is a polite way of saying that we got our asses handed to us and that we fell apart..... the chain of command wasn't working. At one point A and B were holed up in some buildings waiting for LOGI to show up. There was some problem with the trucks, and we sat in this compound for what felt like an eternity. Squad leads went back and forth for discussions and it felt like nobody really knew what was going on. Then Platoon Lead (PL) came around telling individual people where to stand and point their guns - clearly very frustrated and micromanaging. This to me sounds like a breakdown in the CoC. Another example - I was killed (along with a few others) and then reinserted. It didn't help that my TFAR was broken, so had to restart AMRA. However, when I finally made my way back to body of the group and wanted to find my squad, PL stopped me and then personally walked me to my squad. Whilst I very much appreciated the kindness, I don't consider that the best us of PL's time! Then we took contact and more people died. PL could have been one of them. I'm not blaming anyone. It's was a result of new teams, some new players (I include myself in that group), and some confusion about the mission purpose and objectives. PL did a great job trying to get everyone organised and trying to keep them safe. SLs did as much. As a suggestion, it would really help to get more information - early on in the briefing and later during the mission, particularly when you reinsert - about what the current plan is and what is expected of the squad. That said, it was loads of fun and I hope to join the next one! [Bracing for the flak]
  18. Hi guys, I've been having a great time on AWE, especially now that I've gotten to know some of the usual suspects. I know I've already said this, but it's a great community. Better than any other I've experienced online. So I took some time making myself some "as close to real" loadouts as possible, and I'm particularly loving the UK kit. However, I find that I'm usually one of the only guys with the UK equipment when playing - no big deal, until you run out of ammo and someone hands you an M4 5.56 mag! However, it got me thinking. Do people have a preference for keeping the squads to a single country loadout or are they not bothered? I think it would be pretty cool to play a joint task force mission, with A1 being only one country loadout and A2 being the other (as an example). Would like to know what people think.
  19. Unfortunately the links in the original post are dead.
  20. It was.... interesting. Can't wait to read the debrief. Thanks for organising.
