  1. Here is a guide on how to install the mods and tfar: Rules and other Guides can be found here: https://forums.ahoyworld.net/forum/96-guides/ You can find the server password here:
  2. I know but still: because you not always need more QCs. When I could use 1 PB or two QCs to fix a large wound and the reopening chance of the PBs is not too bad than I will also use the PBs but when it´s a medium wound and I would need either 1 PB or 1QC than I´ll take the QC because of the better stats. You can see this for example here: It´s not that I am saying PBs are bad. I am just saying that you can perform better when using the best bandages for the situation/wounds instead of just always spamming PBs.
  3. same goes for QCs to avoid this I use different bandages for different wound types and sizes as you can seen in my list above. well easy to do when using the medical menu instead of the ace interaction menu and definitly worth it. For example there is just no good reason why you would prefere a PB instead a Basic onto a cut wound. Or why would you patch a velocity or laceration wound with PBs instead of with QCs when you know that this one will definitly reopen with PBs? Also the new Gauntlet version is designed in a way that people shouldn´t RTB after every mission but instead directly go to the next one => the wound will reopen when you are in combat again.
  4. actually QuickClots are mostly performing better (and they have the same reopening times) this is because of their lower reopening chance => you may need two QCs for a large wound instead of 1 PB, but they probably won´t reopen where the PB mostly has a pretty high chance to reopen => you´ll also need two but the second one maybe while you are taking fire Usually I use: Abrasion: small, medium: QC (it gets the job done with a low chance of reopening) large: PB (it gets the job done with a good reopening time) more than large: PB/QC (depending on how many wounds you have) Avulsion: all: QC (the reopening chance is the best and the reopening time is by far better then the one of Basics) Crush: all: Basic (the chance of reopening is so low that I don´t mind the fast reopening time because it is just super unlikely that it actually reopens) Cut: all: Basic (the chance of reopening is super low and the reopening time is moderate) Laceration: small, medium, large: QC (Because time, chance and effectiveness are ok and the reopening time at Basics is just too short) more than large: PB (because you would need too much QCs) Velocity: all: QC (obviously PB and Elastic are a no go when you wan´t to return to combat and QCs have a better reopening chance than the Basic ones) Puncture: all: QC (obviously PB and Elastic are a no go when you wan´t to return to combat and QCs have a way better reopening time than the Basic ones)
  5. Better use this guide: and this spreadsheet: (the effectiveness values at the different wound-types are meant like: when there is a 1 it can patch up one small of these wouds, at a 2 it can patch a medium wound and at a 3 it can patch a large one; the chance of reopening is self explaining I think; and the Minimum and Maximum times from and until when the wound can reopen are in seconds.) Don´t use the Guide/Spreadsheet from the ACE Wiki because it is outdated by a lot! Hope I could´ve helped you Noah_Hero
  6. Of course it is not. It is there as support element. The second part: is meant as the consequence from the mortar being OP with Guided shells because as said it can kill just everything. Of course an Apache can do the same but that´s the reason the apache isn´t always used and if it is used it has to wait for fire orders. Of course you could do the same for the mortar-team but these guys will then just be sitting in base while you can order your CAS to RTB and grab a transport for example and be usefull in another way. Also the CAS can perfectly provide Intel about enemy movement and call these to ground units and mark them on cTab. It is not like I am saying the mortar is shit. I am just saying that there are better ways to fullfill the task and cover even more tasks than the mortar team could do.
  7. And because of the fact that you can easily shoot at any target at more or less any distance because you have a clear view over everything. Well, not for AI because AI always knows where you are. That´s how AI works. But still a mortar would be either not that usefull because you can perform way better with CAS or it would be (with these laser-guided shells) OP because you can kill everything while being out of danger sitting at base => it will etiher take people away from more important slots and/or it will take away fun from the infantry combat that is the core-part of AWE and ARMA itself.
  8. AI can be setted to a way harder mode where they try to surround you, etc. But most likely the AI-level will be setted to normal. And especially when AI is on hard then a mortar is way too slow at firing accurate. Well HAT can sit 2 km out of the AO on a hilltop wich will still make it hard for the AI to kill them when they are doing their job good. And if MAT is just stationary then the MAT guys aren´t doing their job very well since MAT is more like intended to be used together with all the other groundforces. But this would also make the mortar OP because you can sit in base with the mortar and kill the whole AO while you aren´t in any kind of danger. CAS at least has the danger of AA-units. How about wind-deflection?
  9. This is already possible. Not necessary because now we almost never have anyone in MMG (except you sometimes) and it works totally fine without AR-spam. The general idea is kind of nice but even though I think also unnecessary because CAS is always available while support squads require a full Alpha and CAS is more accurate.
  10. Fine and undiscussable is a difference but ok if you say so. Basically you need everyday to remind someone of the rules that we now have... Nice to hear then I´ll from no on always tell you when someone does so you can kick him. (btw. I like the way how you seem to be doing rule enforcement according to this.) I follow the rules. I even always have them opened when I am playing on AWE in case of being not sure about something or mainly if someone else brakes the rules to quote the rules for him. And for the displaying of wrong behaviour I even filled out a player report once in a case where someone definitly broke the rules with the intention to do so... but well nothing happened. Not even a warning was given. Nice, will call you when I see this behaviour next time.
  11. I know that this is your answer because you yesterday postet it also as reply to something else but as I said above: But as it seems that this is no option for you. Why then not start to make the rules you now have undiscussable and more clear? (Just for example add in the fact that people must wear helmets to number 8 => because as mentioned on top not even all staff-team-members know about this; change the "should"s to "must"s => this would prevent a lot of discussions; etc.) Or is this too much off-topic again? If yes: No Problem I wanted to open a new thread for this anyways instead of talking about this here.
  12. As said: I think it could be done just by ASL choosing what he wants to use and if he allows resupplies if assets are destroyed. Like I said: if you want this gameplay: pick ASL or convince ASL to play like this. But I like it more like it is now because now ASL can and actually also is (if ASL is somewhat experienced) using not just helis and instead can use paradrops, boats or like yesterday fast roping which is also super cool. Because of this I would not restrict the posibilities because now it is only limited by imagination (but yes some people are just thinking of Helis) And I like that you try to keep the discussion in this thread alive.
  13. Exactly. My post was just meant as explanation for why it isn't used like in RL in Gauntlet.
  14. As @Blue-958- said: too much potential to fuck things up really bad. Also this is not Milsim but more teamoriented short fun. Because of this I think that adding an economy-system would be too much for maybe having short fun at completing a few AOs. This kind of playstyle where you really have to be carefull about your resources is running on EU6 at the MSOs and there it works well because you are playing quite a lot of hours on the same mission and it is a bit more "hardcore" oriented. And I agree with the point of the staff-team that now you have all the variety. If YOU want to do anything special just hop into ASL-slot and do it. You can do this whenever you want and create your dynamic playstyle without any scripting at all. And if you want to make people care even more on recourses than they are at the moment just don't let them take another vehicle after they wasted theirs when you are ASL. And why another thread about this if it already has been discussed? *EDIT*: @Miczils: for the point about CAS: yes in RL CAS is super important because you don't risk the life of soldiers on the ground and exactly that could CAS do in Arma...but then it is just super boring for the ground-forces because they stay safe while CAS is killing the whole AO. and for briefings: just look at the stats before and after the AO and compare them and do a briefing on your own as ASL but normally you should have a feeling about how it went and don't need numbers.
  15. Thought so too but just wanted to make sure it is like this because of the conversation with Stan yesterday since he told something else. That's why I am for undiscussable rules that fit all circumstances but that'll be another thread. And the argument that then there would be too much rules is a nonsense argument in my eyes because you should expect from people that they know all rules if they want to play on a server...and if not: talk to them, warn them, kick them, ban them.
  16. Good point. Than I'll just copy this link for further crusading with you.
  17. Vortex Pilot and Co-Pilot split as Wing-Mans for example but all of this is up to CMDs descision.
  18. I am always wearing one but not all people do so... And thanks for the answer. But is this an official statement from staff-team? Or to say it other: Does this OFFICIALLY means that it is implied into Rule number 8? If yes I suggest to lock this topic to prevent a rule discussion. If no I would like to have an official statement.
  19. As you know I am totally on your side with this but is this officially included in rule number 8 or is it just your personal "crusading"?
  20. I think so too but that´s why I am asking since Stan is a member of the Staff-team... (And I am not sure how "should" is meant in english but in german it is meant as "must if possible" and that´s how I also use it in english and especially when reading the rules. But I think a "must" is always the better choice for rules because it makes them undiscussable.)
  21. I am always telling people who are not in CMD that they should wear a helmet when they want to leave base because of AWE rule number 8 "Play your role" because I always thought that this implies that a normal soldier has to be equipped with a helmet because @Amentes once explained it like this. But yesterday @Stanhope told me that not wearing a helmet in the field goes confirm with the rules because it is not clearly mentioned there. So my question obviously is if I am wrong telling people that they have to wear a helmet or if it is correct to do so. Would appreciate an official statement from the Staff-team to end this one rule discussion that way too often happens.
  22. Well but if people should apply common sense there will always be idiots trying to bow the rules with this as argument...
  23. Yes it is but good rules should be nit-pick to cover all circumstances and to be undiscussable. Definitly. My original post was just meant as an idea in case the faces should actually come back to give a solution for Amentes mentioned Immersion-breaking problem.
  24. Of course this would happen but is this really a problem when some idiots call you an idiot? Also this is your server so you can do on it everything you want to and if they don´t like it they can play anywhere else. Thats what rules are for. Because some people always do stupid things without them.
  25. Then invent an AWE rule that only allows anything that is clearly just a human face. Would probably also decrease the amount of custom faces.
