  1. I take you've recently started using the shacktac hud?

Vanilla maps don't do that, if you use shacktac they will.  And yes, it's intentional.

Ok thanks. Although I need to find out what else shacktac does, need to study the armaholic thread. I thought it was because I had been messing with the game colour settings, which I would now like to return to basic but don’t know how. Ha ha.

Can I ask one other thing? Pressing U brings up the grouped and Un grouped players, but I am not able to scroll up and request to join, is that my end or is there another way to request to join a group?

  2. EI showing up on your map is determined by ArmA itself by a few factors and I didn't edit any of them.
It's also highly dependent on how many people are in your group as you see all EI spotted by anyone in your group.

Some of the factors that determine whether or not an AI will show up on your map are:
    -clear line of sight
    -range
    -weather conditions
-time of day (is it dark or not?)
-your skill level set by the mission (remained unchanged)
    -use of optics/binoculars
    -...

Ok so it must be my end then. Maybe some colours have got changed in the game menu. I’ll check it. So the bigger the group the better. Can you tell me how to join into a bigger group? I didn’t have a good time last night, I seemed to be running for miles, always behind the action, then everyone around me letting off shots but I couldn’t see any enemy, and when I did eventually see the enemy I missed by miles. Could not have hit my backside with a banjo! Ha ha. Then some joker was team killing and shouting in my face at the spawn so I just retired to the TV and a G&T.

Also there is a setting I have found above the one called “ head bob” I think. It’s called aiming dead zone. What does this refer to and what is the best setting?

  3. -Slingweapon action fixed in the next version
-the AO spawning a jet is redused to a 1 in 3 chance instead of 100% (when there are more than 40 people on only)
-factory has received extra redundant checks and a new hint which will allow players to better track the progression of the mission
-factory code has been rewritten to be less messy

All of this in the next version.  (No that's not all, it's the things people have complained about, no i don't have an ETA when this will be coming out, most likely after tanks DLC is released.)

I am no expert and a noob to the server but it seems to me that since the update and last night in particular on EU 1, I don’t get as many if any E I showing up on my map? Enemy vehicles and aircraft seem to but not infantry. Before I would get all spotted E I on the map within 1000 meters. Is this something I have accidentally changed locally or is it a planned change?

  4. Itemize, and stop dragging this down to a personal level.

To reply to the OP I think it’s a brilliant idea to have proportional EI to players. As a player with lots of spare time I often play on Malden and am the only or at most 1 of 5 players. I use the space to practice flying, loadouts etc. It would be nice to have fewer enemy.

  5. Yes that’s correct. With all commercial syms the interface is built in. You set the model up on the tx then connect to the program and select the tx make and model and happy Days it’s done. One thing I can do is get a hdmi output from the pc to my goggles for a real imersive in-game experience. My goggles have a built in head tracker as well. I also run an off road 4x4 1/5 scale car with a Tonka Jeep body

  6. If you can imagine this: I have a 1.5 meter span twin motored plane with a hd camera, video transmitter and autopilot. It has a controllable range of 20 miles. I wear a pair of goggles with a head tracker that are connected to a video receiver getting live feed from the plane. It’s just like being in the model. Control is by my hand held Taranis transmitter. I also fly racing drones like those on TV. Not as well as those youngsters because at age 65 my reactions are just a wee bit slower but my pockets are a wee bit deeper :-)).  So flying a copter on a screen is a bit like that. I am really impressed with the skills of some of the pilots on AhoyWorld, especially the one with the Vietnam Music! BTW how does he do that music and cool ? walking? BTW my game name is Tim.

You are better off constructing a role in the AW server arsenal, than the vanilla one in the main menu; on an I&A server  it will not allow you to choose restricted items (however vanilla will, but then wont let you load them up).

I would also say if you are going to do this, pick EU2 to do it on, as it is quieter and people wont be hankering for a slot that is being used for your arsenal admin.

I did a video showing my opinion of a few loadouts/roles, if you want to check them out.

I did watch the video and actually copied some of your loadouts but I must have made some errors as most where not allowed in the roles. Anyhow it’s changing so I look forward to that. I have noticed that the ping changes a lot day to day. I am fortunate to have a top end gaming pc and very fast broadband, so my next challenge is getting the FPS up. What is generally considered an acceptable FPS?

  8. Hi and thanks for the quick reply. Where is the text displayed, I cannot say I have seen it but there is soooo much to learn. Also am I correct in thinking that group is for everyone on the server, and direct is to someone near to you or you are looking at? And as I have TFAR mod should I start teamspeak before I load the game?

  9. I have been a Radio Control pilot for over 40 years, I fly helicopters, fixed wing, racing drones, 1/5 scale cars both line of sight and first person view at public shows and competitions. I would like to connect my RC Tx to the game rather than use a joystick. Can this be done? Has anyone connected a Taranis X9Plus and if so how? If not then I will need to fork out for a simple joystick I suppose!

  10. This is not a rant but a request to increase my enjoyment of the server. As a very new convert to Arma 3 and a refugee from hacked COD games, I am finding it quite difficult to get the saved loadouts correct for AhoyWorld servers. Typically I will construct say a medic and save it, load it in Arsenal only to find 50% of the kit is missing! Then waste time trying to find what I can have for that character. It would be most useful if there was a listing of the allowed kit for each role. If there is one can I get a link to it please? Before anyone suggests looking at YouTube, done that and most content is outdated or incorrect. I followed one AhoyWorld  contributors guide for each role to the Tee o lay to find 50% missing in game.

Another issue is understanding voice communications in game. Can I get a link to what the different channels are supposed to be used for? Due to the co operative nature of Arma3 I would have thought it was essential for 100% of the players to be on voice com's. Is that not the case?

Lastly can I get a Link to assist with the in game settings screen: eg distance cloud etc etc.

    Thanks in advance.

  11. Is there a guide on how to connect and use the radio and com s mods? Which channels to use in game, how to talk to your squad members? I have searched the web and cannot find anything except some references to changing channels in the radio but with no guide on how to do it or even if it applies to AhoyWorld.

  12. Hi All, in game name Tim, very new to Arma 3, what a steep learning curve after hacker infested run and gun COD and BF. Cam to the game looking for a more tactical experience and so far it’s ticked the box. Still looking for the best fit role for me, struggling with info on how to use teamspeak, unsure if you use Task Force Radio or not??? Anyhow I apologise ahead for any stupid mistakes and unintended Team Kills, over and out!
