So from the information i have gotten/read here are my thoughts.

Player's in EU 3 need to chill out, This post was made for the players of EU #1 and #2 to see if they would like to try somthing new and fresh,  and will not effect EU 3 at all what so ever so i dont understand why you guys are here disagreeing with the idea?

The reason people want a light modded server is so they can have a different I&A gaming experience without the lag or having to download so many mod's. There is a server that is available and is not being used so it would not hurt to try it out and see how the community reacts. EU 3 is nice but its a little too much for some people and the level of gameplay just is not really what some are looking for.

    The Answer to Zissou's Questions

    Which Mods: ACE/ACRE
Who decides which mod's to use: Mission Developer/Community (Limit 2GB)
Who is going to Build it: (Needs to be Decided)
Who is going to maintain it: I am willing to maintain the server.

Until we figure out who can make the mission Kieran Collier has volunteered to make a basic mission file with the mods included and the mission's can be made via Zeus.

I have a few more thoughts, but i cant keep my eye's open lol.

I think you're missing the point of this thread -
It's not about the rules, it's about the idea of a step between an (relatively) unmodded server, and something with as many Mods as EU 3.
Your post completely side steps the point here.
Which is that some people don't want to, or can't (due to hardware or other factors), play on a server as heavily loaded with Mods as EU 3.
But they do want a more immersive experience.
I wish people wouldn't jump at this the way they have and actually read it and take some time to understand it before posting.
Giddy makes a really good point.
He just wanted FEEDBACK on the idea of something inbetween the 2 types of servers.

Hello everyone me and a few of the community members were thinking of how we could bridge the gap between the vanilla servers ie EU 1/2 to the vastly modded EU 3. Because the servers are so different we feel that a semi modded EU 1/2 server would fill the gap, Possibly EU 5. This would give a bit more variety to the game play by using minimal mods on EU 1/2 maps and missions. This server would still give people the experience of team work but not be as hardcore. The mods we were thinking of using would be a Weapon's pack, Weapon Attachment pack, Uniform pack, Some form of a vehicle pack and less intrusive form of acre 2. Please tell me your thoughts if you think this is a good idea or not, Would love to get your feedback.

As of the recent issues in the comments below with some of the contradicting opinions of the community members i feel it would be in everyone's best interest to come up with a simple answer ie yes i would like this to happen or no it's not for me, I understand the reasons why some of the community don't want this to happen but this topic was never created for those individuals that had no intention of playing this server or game night. My original post wasn't meant to upset anyone it was a simple idea to see if people felt the same way but some individuals have taken it the wrong way. Thanks to the people who have expressed their opinion in a detailed way but lets keep it simple from now on.

Today something happened that 've only seen happen once before.

Enemy ran from the Side Mission all the way to the Main Base, and began slaughtering us as we spawned in.
This wouldn't be an issue if we could fire back at them...

Instead we died multiple times just trying to get to a vehicle so that we could shoot back.

Can something plz be done about this...
Like an in base Anti-Infantry defense.

When there's no admin around... like European Mornings, it's  so frustrating trying to deal with things like this.

The variety would become bigger if you had a pool of say, 10 different side missions, and it would sometimes randomly select two of them to put together, or even three in a rare case.

If you just want side missions to be more of a challenge then wouldn't it be easier to just add more units to them? That would be much simpler than trying to merge multiple side missions together.
That said, I'm against making side missions harder, they're supposed to be a small optional mission that can be done by a small infantry squad.
Since they're often left alone with nobody interested in going to complete it, I don't think the FPS drop would be worth it.

I'd like the idea, but the way that ai vehicles move would mean that they're never going to reach their destination even if the mission is ignored, so I don't think these sorts of missions are possible atm

Although that did give me an idea that some side missions could have a time limit attached to them, that would add an extra challenge to the mission without the disadvantages of adding more enemy units.

I would be glad to help, don't know much about scripting tho, but I am sure, the potato squad can work on something for you guys, when we of course are not playing

A friendly "Hello" to everyone of you (except if your name's shax)!

I am around for approximately 1.5 months on EU2 now, and I am one of the Potato-squad-guys, so you will find me on TS pretty much all the time.

As a player you will see me in the flahier roles mostly, like VORTEX, FSG Gunner or UAV OP, and when you do see me as infantry, I will be getting on the squad's nerves by switching roles after each AO and needing another group invite But if you need some orbital bombings, you can rely on me to deliver

So yeah, I mostly had great experiences on Ahoyworld up until now so I hope for plenty more with you lot!

    Take care everyone!

    Hey peoples!

I've been active on EU2 for about three months now so if you've played there you must have seen me around. Dunno how much more of an intro you need other than that i'm a founding member of the Potato Squad.

Suggestion, make a base billboard saying "Don't shoot the mines", "Walk softly and carry a mine detector", "If someone is in the minefield already, run the other way" or whatever else we can come up with so people know to leave the minefield alone when people are in or near it.

Ezlann reacted to xSniper1982 in Removing the Panther
back in January - Jason - made a comment on a thread about Tank Crews/Slots

"Rather than adding more vehicles you could replace the (inferior) Mora and the (useless) Panther with another Marshall and/or Slammer, as they are more popular. Personally I'd really like to see at least two Marshalls spawning in base, as it's a vehicle I like to use but very often there's someone else using it."

    It made me think...
The Panther never really gets used as it's WAY too slow to take you over any distance and doesn't have any really firepower once it gets there.

It could be removed quite easily, without anyone really even caring.

And this got me to thinking, the Trucks >HEMTTs< aren't really used that often, same with the Hunters, and I think it's mainly about location in the base...
People don't want to go looking for them, and instead just wait for (scream at) pilots for transport, even when there are enemy Jets killing them time and time again.

This combined with the, ever so breifly used - coz issues - new base layout had me wondering if you wouldn't mind me putting together a rough design/layout, or if you wouldn't mind looking into one yourselves.

A layout with the ground vehicles, HEMTTs and Hunters, literally parked next to the Spawn/VAS in a line behind the small concrete barriers. This will make them more noticable to the guys on the ground, and perhaps improve the chances of people using them.

    HEMTTs -
A few times now I have taken a Medical HEMTT out to a AO or Zeus mission and found that it came in more useful than even I had expected as when there are no Medics in the area - live ones anyway - people did notice the Marker I had added saying >> Med Station << and therefore pulled their injured friends back to it, and thus were able to get them on their feet themselves.
The same with the Repair HEMTT, Keeping one close to the AO is really useful when a Heli goes down or a Vehicle gets disabled.

    HUNTERS -
People only ever want to take the Armed Hunters, but a Fire Support Team with a Armed hunter is pretty much wasting a vehicle, Having the unarmed Hunters right next to the spawn with a few First Aid Kits and Mortar Bipods/Tubes or Static HMGs in the back might give people a few extra choices that they didn't really consider.

    IFV / APC -
The Panther and Bobcat are far too slow to be of any practical use in the missions. The Bobcat however is such a useful vehicle when AOs are closer to the base, but it never gets used due to it being needed in Base for repairing Helicopters at the Landing Pads.
Perhaps having a Larger 3 pad area, in a triangular formation, with a Bobcat in the middle could be a nice solution for traffic flow and repair efficienc. (but that's a topic for another thread)

The Mora and Marshall often don't get used for anything other than a light tank, rarely do I see others using them as a transport option, Perhaps when an AO is close to base, 1 or 2 of the pilots could grab the Hunter and use it to ferry people back and forth to the AO. (same with Hunters for small groups, and HEMTTs for larger groups)

    TANKS -
Too often the people taking the Slammer just drive it into a field/onto a hill and then sit in it until destroyed...
    or
Charge into the AO with nothing but Machine Guns blazing slicing through the infantry....

I think the Slammer (Urban Purpose) should be removed for the heavier Slammer, which can either fight from long range, or as my friends and I do, stalk the outside of the AO looking for Armoured targets to remove before heading back to base. Because the Slammer doesn't have the Commander gun, that the Urban Purpose does have, it is much less effective at attacking infantry. This makes it more role specific and therefore might encourage the use of the smaller vehicles for that purpose.

I'm going to stop here, as I am currently shattered as it is almost 11am and I have not yet slept.
I have many more ideas that I will be sharing over the coming days.

I hope my input is useful, if not always needed..
