  1. So that would mean you would have to remove the Taru from the FOB spawn too?
  2. Add to your list: Taru is friendly, going down going down, damnit
  3. That I didn't think off. This is a serious drawback, considering the issue of public server and the amount of trolls that actually TK friendly units, not to mention most of them not knowing if a unit is friend or foe. Any suggestions to solve this issue? (I came up with this idea in the first place, since i saw that on one of our FOBs, the Taru is available). Regards, Theronas
  4. Damn, I'm really sorry fir_nev. It seems that my posts here have sort of.... hijacked your original thread which actually should have been a new topic more or less. Apologies. Theronas
  5. Very true, but the Taru idea was not meant to substitute the Hemtt. It was as an addition to the Hemtt. Like previously mentioned, why not give players a wider range of options? Hence, its not the issue of what is more practical and what not, but having both should solve all angles and make the game more interesting and fun. Regards, Theronas
  6. Exactly. But there also needs to be an incentive. Hence, the more possibilities we can offer (like the suggested ideas + needing a medic nearby/on-site to be able to operate said pod/etc.. would also make medics want to play more, since its a nice add on for them, as well as for us non medics if no medics are around. Im sure a medic would feel more important, or a player would like to play more the role of a medic, if he were to take his "para-dropping" lab with him wherever he goes, or even per hemtt On a side-note, those pods can also be loaded on to trucks for transport. And since we are also talking about a public server here, pods in the field should share the same attribute as vehicles, meaning if no player is within 500m, then the pod should despawn/respawn back at the location in base. On a non-public server, logistics would have to pick it up and bring it back to base and so on. But as you said, such script would definitely solve the issue if no medics are around, or if they do not play their role as intended. Regards, Theronas
  7. What about stealth? Like for example, it does not show up on radar, and can not be locked on to (unless bay doors are open) ? To be honest i lack some of the realism when it comes to stealth on Arma. Other examples are Blackfoot and Ghosthawk. The initial design in them are geared towards stealth, but in-game there is nothing stealthy about any of them except skin appearance. That sentinel should be silent/invisible death from above. Regards, Theronas.
  8. Sorry for not adding the following to my original post above, but here goes: Scenario: All enemy AA has been taken out, but there are wounded troops a bit deeper in the AO. A taru could para-drop a medical pod into the zone. That means that some players would have to setup a small security perimeter around or next to the dropped medical pod and other players would have to carry or drag fallen soldier to the pod for revive/heal/etc... or another scenario: AO has been completed. A taru with a med pod can go and evac wounded back to base or straight to new AO if so desired. This would also offer a bit more towards the idea of co-op and tactical play. Yeah Yeah, i know, its a public server, but still... offering a few more solutions to milsim game play would not hurt, even on a public server. At least give players the possibility to do so. You could also maybe script something like, the medical pod only works (its effects) if a med is on site, or there are so many other ideas/possibilities that could be thought out and implemented in conjunction. You know you have the containers for the huron at base next to the heli repair zone. Just add a small zone with various pods for the Taru next to the repair zone, so players can also board some of the other pods (like troop transport pod, etc). A med can also board the med pod and be lifted together to a target location. The ideas of how to combine this medical solution with actual game play are endless. All it takes is a bit of imagination and comparison to realism. Sorry for the long multiple posts, im just a bit excited at the idea and would love to see it maybe implemented. Cheers, Theronas.
  9. Good morning everyone. I hope everyone is fine Please forgive me in advance if my idea/suggestion is not spot on, since this thread is about the Medical Hemtt. However, my idea to maybe help combat the core issue of this thread being a medical solution near or in the AO makes me wonder why no one has yet mentioned the wonderful solution that the Taru offers? The Taru has various Pods that can be lifted/attached/detached and even para-dropped from higher altitudes. One of these pods is a medical pod (alongside other pods that are all also very useful). All of these pods would help to solve many issues that some players are whining about in-game at the AO, like need fuel, need ammo, need repair. Now before you say that this idea would defeat the role of the players within those fields, i'm sure that you can come up with an idea of how to solve the issue to keep players using medical/repair slots etc without scrapping this idea totally. Also, this would require a separate landing/lifting bay for said pods (which should not be really an issue to setup at base), as well as making 1 taru a default spawn helicopter at base. (Either add the taru, or replace it with one of the ghosthawks). You can lift and/or attach those pods to the taru, and even drop the entire pod itself with parachutes from higher altitudes. There is also a pod for troop transport, which is a nice way of dropping troops in a zone that might be a "little" bit hot A view from inside the medical pod: And to go just a teeny weeny lil bit further of topic here, the taru can also lift Entire Trucks (Hemtts), Tanks, and other Choppers. It would also solve the issue of downed choppers, if no repair spec is available. A taru can airlift a chopper back to base for repairs. But to stay on topic now, since the core is about Medical solutions at the AO, think about this Taru solution. Not to replace the Hemtt of course, but as a nice addition. Have a good day everyone, Theronas. //edit - spelling errors
  10. Like i said, im all for it. I havent heard the name Liberation in over a year to be honest, and i had forgoten all about it. You also don't find many Liberation public servers online. To be honest, i spend some of my best times in Arma playing liberation. If i can be of any assistance do let me know Regards, Theronas
  11. Hey, hello fir_nev About the AWE, by no means does it mean that i just want to pilot. Hell, with so many roles that exist I don't mind playing a number of different roles. I like playing AT/Marksman/Repairspecialist/Pilot/lazy-villager-looking-at-sunset-near-pyrgos/and so on. So I don't think that these restrictions would really bother me too much. About you wanting me to teach you... I am by no means a pro pilot. Yeah, i can land, but don't think im like Dslyecxi who will land a littlebird between 2 buildings in a back yard wihtin seconds . I would prolly freak out if put in a situation like that. But what i can do is, if you ever decide to fly with me that is, i can promise to try to get you to your destination alive. I know its not much, but hey.... atleast you'll live to see the beautiful sunset in kavala or pyrgos after a hard days work in the battle zone. Regards, Theronas.
  12. Yup, and also alot of these ideas would mean that an admin would have to watch over things all the time (not everything can be scripted), so having an admin just making sure that all the rules and additional stuff could be a pain when their time could be better spent fixing stuff, or ice cream . Im just browsing the AWE forum, and i think i might give it a go to see. It all does look exciting there. BTW, i keep reading all over the forums about folks here being helpfull etc.... I wouldnt mind some lessons and a mentor to help me master the awesome power of a gunship (blackfoot/apache/etc). I would love to learn some tactics and ideas about those aircraft, since a proper manned and proper skilled CAS using a blackfoot can be really very effective. Anyone willing to be my mentor ? I'm willing to listen and learn. Regards, Theronas
  13. I need to read up and see what it takes to be able to play on the AWEU3. I wouldn't mind from time to time to hop on to a more realistic environment. Since it seems that AHOW offers this too, it is of interest to me. Better than having to switch servers all the time, if i can have it all here at ahoy. Sure GameburgUK, i fully understand that these ideas can't be implemented here (by the way, that other server is public too), like i said, i was just rumbling waiting for time to pass till i'm off work to be able to login to game . 1.5 hours to go. Regards, Theronas
  14. As far as i remember, Liberation saves the game status. That means it would be possible to continue where left of the last time. That way you wouldnt have to force the entire event into a single event/playthrough at one time. You could like create a large event, and split it into missions, like 1 - 2 hours per mission, and the show goes on next time etc.... Theronas.
  15. Hi again, You know, i have played on this other I&A server (I don't want to say which nor do i wish to advertise it), and i must say they have an interesting concept too. Not only about the Aircrafts, but in general their rules. Examples are: Your only allowed to drive a tank or apc if you have a minumum crew, such as driver, commander, gunner. Otheriwse its not allowed to use that vehicle. This solves the issue for example of having 1 person take such an awesome asset into battle and loosing it due to not using it correctly. CAS may ONLY be launched if a specific target has been requested from within the AO. After that target is destroyed the CAS goes back to base on standby. A sniper can only go out if he has a spotter with him and they are together. Only crewmen can staff gunner positions in aircrafts. There are a lot more rules like this on that other server, but im not going to go into it with details. And I'm also not mentioning this to be implemented here. The reason I do mention it is for the sake of realism in an awesome game known as ARMA 3. Its just for inspirational purposes. So the idea of giving a pilot more control over his aircraft would make sense. It all depends on how far you want to see realism, and also of course we do not want to burden the server itself (through loops in coding or whatever) to interfere with performance. Just for the sake of discussion though, some of these ideas are really sweet. I dunno, im just rambling, im stuck here at work and can't wait for me to get ingame tonight. Regards, Theronas.
  16. @ Stanhope. I just found one of your older threads dating back to 2016. I didn't want to post in that old thread, so i'll just say here what i think about it. I think its the best idea i have heard in a very long time. Maybe its time to talk about this idea again? It makes sense. Let the pilot have the power to make such decisions. Sure, there will always be goons who might abuse it, but i think the pros outweigh the cons here in this situation. The thread in question is: That would actually be a great asset. I vote for this idea.... Any other takers or thoughts on this? Regards, Theronas
  17. A pillow case will do just fine, with a few cans of cola
  18. Hello, I have spend some time playing liberation on altis (locally) and must say that it was a really fun time. You get this awesome feeling of satisfaction when your income (based on perfomance) grows and unlocks more things. Also the base building is addictive. Would be nice to see this done professionally and with ranks and chain of command etc... I'm all for it. Theronas.
  19. Yes, you are right. Ah well, in any case, atleast my forum post count will go up. I guess one solution is, next time someone is being disrespectful in flight, i'll just turn the chopper around and take em all back to base, and let everyone else who was nice do pushups as a group punishment for the offender It worked well on full metal jacket . Regards, Theronas
  20. Hello Amentes, and thank you for your reply. However you missed the point of my post . My post was not meant to be a rant, nor a complaint. I just wrote down my experience in order to be able to post what a pilot's role is more or less, hence the bullet points i wrote. Forget the story of my experience, and that guy who was being rude, I'm way past that already. (I'm 40 years old, it takes a bit more than a kid's insults to tick me off). I just wanted to let the normal foot soldiers know who's in charge of the aircraft and the aircraft's actions. Nothing more. Be sure that if i think that I need to complain, i will go through the proper channels to have my issues heard by the appropriate people in charge. I just want the foot soldiers to read this thread, and to understand what vortex is, and more important, what it isn't. Regards, Theronas
  21. Hello everyone. Although I'm not very active in the forums, I do spend most of my Arma time on Ahoyworld. I would like to write down here a few things regarding the Vortex group, since some of the foot grunts do not seem to understand a few of the basics. Best way to do so is to tell you about yesterday . I was piloting a ghosthawk for about 2 - 3 hours, this included Base ---> AO and back as well as evacs and so on. Just on a side note (no, I'm not boasting), i actually didnt get shot down or crashed even once during that time. It was a good run. At some point, a mission spawned not too far from Base. I carefully marked a LZ on the map pretty close to the AO with cover behind a hill, and set down at the Base pickup LZ to get players to board. As the players slowly started boarding, there was a passenger who started whining about why the Miniguns don't fire. After telling him that I (Pilot) had locked them as there was no need or use for them at the time, he started whining even more that what if this and what if that, and why the hell not. I replied by telling him that it's the pilot's responsibility and decision as to when and if the miniguns are to be locked or unlocked. He then started to become pretty rude, and insulting. I didnt care to much of that though. As soon as the ghosthawk was full, I took off from base in direction of the LZ at the AO. A few seconds after lift-off, an enemy AA spawned right between the base and the AO. I immediately broke to the right and went fast and low. At the same time i had missiles incoming so i naturally had to release some chaff (anti missile flares) and kept going. In the mean time, that same rude player started talking trash again and insulting me, and telling my why im going the wrong way. I proceeded to tell him that an AA spawned and is firing at us. He chose to ignore that and call me a retard and what not. I made a large circle around the AA to get to the LZ that i had originally created on the MAP. On the way, there was a lot of enemy missiles incomming, and as i was trying to avoid them he kept on ranting about my brain problems, and that I am a really bad pilot and so on. He then started yapping about why I am releasing Chaffs, theres nothing near us, but fact was that my AA warning system was beeping like crazy most of the flight. At some point i run out of chaffs, and went really low and took cover in between some hills between the AO and the AA location and hovered at very low altitude between hills, trees and whatever cover there was. Under normal circumstances, a pilot would have pulled out of that situation/area as the AA comming from both the AA site and the AO was pretty severe. I continued and actually managed to get the passengers to the designated LZ, and dropped them off safely. As that one guy exited, he left me a nice little goodbye speach on my mental brain issues that he decided that I have. Anyways, I made it back to base safely and logged out cause i was literraly fed up. This is not a rant post from my side. I want to lay down some rules from a pilot's point of view to the foot grunts that take our services for granted, and I just thought that i would also tell you about my experience yesterday. Now to make things really clear for everyone here, its pretty simple. The pilot is in command of the aircraft, NOT the passengers. The pilot decides which waypoints to fly to get to a destination. The pilot decides where the LZ should be, not the passengers. The pilot decides when a gunner on HIS aircraft will be allowed to shoot and also on which target. The gunner must obey the pilot at all times. The pilot decides (if there are several LZs) which LZ to go to. Sure, passengers may suggest or ask, but in the end it's the pilot's decision. Never remove an LZ that a Pilot has placed on the MAP at an active AO unless you are the one who marked it. All you foot grunts are too lazy to walk, and set the LZs as close as possible without even knowing what is going on at the AO. If you as a passenger do not agree, or don't like these rules, take the next air lift, or drive/walk yourself to wherever it is you want to go, but do NOT insult the pilot and be a wise ass. Not every pilot sucks or is bad. I know that on Ahoy most of the time there are crappy pilots, but that does not mean that you people can flame or insult all pilots. At the end of the day, its a game. If a pilot gets shot down, or whatever, nothing really happened except that you might have to click your left mouse button once on the respawn and wait for a few mins before the next lift to the AO is ready to serve. Stop with the insults. Without us pilots, you wouldnt even be playing here. Some people try to play this game in a serious manner. I know that i do. Me flying is more than just a game. It means: I (the pilot) am responsible for the Aircraft. That aircraft costs MUCH more than your uniform, rifle, and medkits that you are carrying around with you. I am obliged to avoid damage. I (the pilot) am responsible for your lives when you are aboard my aircraft. Keeping you alive is my highest priority. That is why only the pilot decides where to land and so on. If i do get shot and land, and the chopper is damaged, i don't just abandon it. I try everything in my power to get a repair team to come and fix the chopper, or i set an explosive charge to blow it up so that the enemy can not salvage it. (I know, some rules may not be in sync with this, but in the real milsim world, thats the right thing to do). This is by no means a rant. I just wanted to point out a few things that can become frustrating at times. Sure, this is a public server, and sure, some people are not pros or experienced. But if your not willing to learn or accept rules, then be gone. This is not a training gallery. Have fun and see you ingame. Theronas
