Hi all

 

Just joined and hoping to get into Arma 3 on-line. Got the game a few weeks ago and have just finished the SP game. Found this via Luetin09's YouTube channel's beginners video. Prior to this my main on-line experience is with sim-racing, which I've been involved in for about 17/18 years. Currently on iRacing.

 

Any hints or tips before I go on-line for the first time.

Finding the forum is a great place to start! Welcome to the community.

 

To get started join EU1 and jump right in. ID your targets and take down the enemy. There are plenty of helpful people on Ahoy so don't be shy to ask ingame or on TS.

As said by Lindi, EU1 is a good place to start, or any of EU2, 4 or 5; though those are quieter but can be a good place to tinker about.

 

Follow the rules and have fun and all will be good.

Well, had my first experience online last night. Spent about an hour on. Didn't actually see an enemy or fire a shot!  but still enjoyed the experience. I seemed to arrive at a location just as the task was finished but it was still useful as it meant I could get a bit better idea of how things worked. It's all a bit daunting at first,

 

@GamerbugUK I think I was sat next to you in a vehicle at one point heading off to the factory task.

 

I'll be back though!!

Haha possibly, I'll check my video to see; should have stuck with me, I racked up 54 kills and only one death last night which is impressive for me (and 1 TK, sorry Timo! )

Always remeber to carry a GPS. Use it by hitting right ctrl + m, this I found to increase my situational awarenes somewhat at the beginning.

One of the most helpfull mods you can use on pretty much every server I've been on is the schaktak user interface. Very usefull.

Some advise from me: take some time to make a good preperation gearwise and use the map a lot.
