I personally never check on any steam group profiles I am a member of. That is not going to change if Ahoy World decides to create a steam group because she/he/it has a great website and steam does NOT work like a charm. What I would like to see is a notification via email from ahoyworld.co.uk whenever a event is being planned. That is my suggestion.
