Wheaties says hi!

Hello from WHEATIES!! Been playing on the server for about a lil' over a week now; Flying transports as much as I can and getting waisted by AIMbots... Having a blast. I bought this game aboot 2 weeks ago and it's my first Arma experience in which is awesome! I'll definetly be playing well past the release and more than likely add the US server to my favorites... Haven't tried the other servers yet.

Some background for ya, whether you care or not... I'm stationed at JBLM, WA as a crew chief for c-17s. I'm med boarded due to some heart issues so I work behind a desk as a supply liaison, so I have a lot of time on my hands. Married with 2 girls and 1 on the way, so I apoligize ahead of time when I'm transporting people in a chopper and suddenly begin that steep descent into the ground.

Gamewise when it comes to Arma 3 I enjoy(much like everyone else does) flying the transport chopper due to their high importance of the job and I enjoy the pressure, plus I love being a pilot with the rank of private. Lately I've been whoopin as a Rifleman and Marksman, I also enjoy being a medic but people keep hoggin that slot. Before Arma I played Diablo 3 and SWTOR.

I think thats the bulk of it, so far it's been fun playing with you guys. Looking forward to continue playing with y'all on the battlfield!

Hey, nice to see more people joining the Arma/AW community.

Since you are a new player i would Recommend taking a look at some of the show cases to get a better understanding of the game.

Also, since you like to fly take a look at some flight videos from http://www.youtube.com/user/Dslyecxi/videos he has some amzing pilot skills and is a great example of how to fly. I would also recommend you practice allot in your editor.

And check out some of his infantry tutorials for arma 3 as well, VERY informal.

See you on the battlefield.

Thanks for the advice! I've done the showcases and messed around with the editor a bit. I've been getting on the US server when it's empty; flying and messing around doing practice sorties n' trick landings. The other day I was doing transport  with at least 25 people and went about 4 to 5 hours w/o dying or crashing(my mom would be so proud)... Until one of those hackers came on. A little bumpy on my landings but I believe I'mma pretty reliable pilot. My only issue as infantry is the sudden one shot wtf kills, as long as I'm on the opposing hill or in an open hill, I'll take at least 4 or 5 with me. Only thing I haven't figured out is marking maps and using the mortars... Imma follower so I'll leave that to the vets.

Welcome onboard Wheaties !!

I also recommend you to join our teamspeak server, as there are always people around that are happy to answer any questions you might have, and help you on your way to become a true power user of the Arma software.

As for markings on the map, just like John mentioned just double click on the map. Be aware however of the voice-channel you are in when you do that, as the people in that channel are the only ones to be able to see these markings.

pro-tip: use shift-click to set a waypoint market that is also shown in your HUD, including distance to target.
