  1. Looking around at all the new faces and the new management O7

     

    feels like I've been gone for longer than the three years since my last login,  Long story short of all things my headset died (nope not my PC not any major surgery or anything else .. just my beloved headset) it was attached to my TrackIR and the replacement doesn't fit.  after playing A3 with a TrackIR for so long it was impossible for me to go back so I did the unthinkable and took a break..  (to be brutally honest at that time I'd hit the wall a bit with IA and wasn't enjoying the mission as much as I could have so it was probably overdue)

     

    Was a VERY good headset

     

    Anyway .. three years later and here I am .. checking out how the guys are going, what the mission looks like and how the hell I'd  even begin to get back into this thing?

     

    So, I guess I have a few questions if you don't mind

     

    is it a fully modded mission now or can I just jump in mod free?

    I used to have a few good mods  like the Sound overhaul and dyslexcis HuD etc.  are they still around or even required now?

    Can I still fail a landing in the Mohawk and happily murder everyone on board while signing at the top of my voice

    is Zeus still a thing

    is performance any better ('member when tanks explosions caused mad server lag?   I 'member) I don't have an SLI RTX 2080 TI  rig so might need to turn some settings down.

     

    What all else is new ?  I noted we're looking at IA4 now ?? wow huge steps ... is there a primer on what the major goals for that is ?

     

    Anyways ... good to be back  (well installed so far .. still need to actually load the game and get the HS working)

    if you can find a slot, jump onto teamspeak and say hi,

     

    also,  bandwidth dependant

     

    Grab Arma3sync and follow the details to get onto the modded server .. it's quite a high bar to pass, as prevention to hackers and the like,  but it's where the real fun happens.

  4. This issue has been resolved for next I&A version.
    As far as performance, there is always a balance. Too many enemies = horrible FPS. Too few enemies = boring experience. When I was actively administrating/developing on one server, I used time as a yardstick, and aimed for AOs to take around 45 mins. to complete.

    I don't think over populating the AO with enemies is the best course,

     

    maybe even,  split the same amount of AI over two separate AO's

     

    I'm just thinking  out loud,  that splitting up the player teams to cycle through smaller more fluid AO's  or multiple smaller squad sized side missions.

     

    to give the possibility of dedicated team play for small organised squads, 

     

    the downside though is that the huge fully populated server of p[layers could easily swamp a small AO .. and there's little to mitigate the "unwanted"  persons who just want to drive headlong into an AO

    or those idiots that encourage pilots to just "Land in the town next to that AA tank so I don't have to walk!"

  5. saw this on the Ahoy server the other day too,

     

    mentioned it to BACONMOP at the time,   I can't recall if it was the "first" side mission to spawn after a reset .. it might have been.

     

    but there have been a few cases lately where the map marker says "take radar" or something .. but the actual side mission is "secure intel" and the relevant side mission spawns incorrectly.

     

    ....

     

    with the latest increase in server population  side missions just get obliterated so quickly,  in fact the AO's drop like flies...

     

    I know it's not possible without killing the server to run multiple AO's but would Multiple Side missions  with a faster re-spawn or side missions be possible ?

  6. anyone else notice that the enemy CAS is really aggressive  these days ?

     

    it used make a pass at a target and if it failed (not that it fails these days with it's infinite missiles) 

     

    it used to rotate onto a new target for next pass...  Now it chases you down like a rabid dog !!

     

    and the Kajman... wow,  talk about laser guided lock-on bullets ... it NEVER misses !

     

    I mean a Decent gunner can lead his target a bit but bloody hell this guy has a fricking laser beam for eyes !

     

    so .. how are you supposed to shake either of them from your tail ?

     

    low flying, fast flying, going behind mountains ... nothing loses them or mitigates the risk..

     

    Don't get me wrong I REALLY appreciate a challenge to flying .. otherwise it'd be well boring! ...  but these no challenge here, it's just murder.

  7. waiting for the Winter sale on this one ....  I have a feeling despite 80% off,  I'll still be spending far too much !

     

    still not finished BL2  (first playthrough) .. I dunno why,  it just didn't capture my enthusiasm as much as BL1

  8. played while this was active last night... and it was pretty awesome..

     

    actually being able to call out to specific classes nearby (repair spec, AT soldier etc.)   was a real bonus.

     

    and on top of that,  the movement tracked really well,  was snappy and accurate.

  9. nice idea, great idea !!

     

    now can we get all classes able to perform a wheel change on a vehicle ? 

     

    basic repair script or some-such  that just fixes a wheel/track/engine to orange status so you can limp to a vehicle station faster.

     

    not saying replace engineers or repair specs totally,  just real basic repairs that can take a minute to enact rather than the instant fix of repair spec.

  10. looking at the current status of mods like Alive and AiA or A3MP

     

    I'm thinking of throwing something together for a few short sequential missions in Cherno.

     

    Now, here's the good news ! .. I've never even opened the editor, let alone run a script.

     

    So I would like to request the advice and support of some VERY patient soul maybe on TeamSpeak one night

     

    to throw something together.

     

    want to try and keep it as mod lite as possible  (one map, Alive mod and VAS,  possibly ACRE etc.)

     

    Whaddya reckon ?
