ATragMX gun settings

Recommended Posts

So recently i got pretty annoyed by the fact that the ATragMX does not have the right ammo/gun combination saved in it.  And seeing how i had some free time i decided to get the right info from the config files and save them in my ATragMX.
Knowing that not everyone knows how to do this and knowing that it's a pain in the ass to get right i thought i'd share my presets for the guns i use.
If anyone else has done it for other guns i, and probably a lot of people ,would certainly appreciate those numbers as well.  And if i do others in the future i'll post them below as well. (If someone posts numbers bellow i'll include them in this post, with credits ofc)

All values are in metric units unless otherwise mentioned.
Default atmosphere settings i used: 15°c, 1013 millibars/hPa, relative humidity of 50%.

Guns:

RHS M107 (works for both ammo types.  Only difference is in bullet mass and it's negligible)

Spoiler

Bore: 3.81 cm
Bullet mass: 42 grams, 647 grains

Bullet diameter: 1.295 cm, .50 inches

C1 coëfficiënt: 1.035

Rifle twist: 38.1 cm/trn

Muzzle velocity: 892 m/s

zero range: 100m

vanilla M2000 intervention:

Spoiler

Vanilla ammo (7Rnd_408_Mag, B_408_ball):
Bore: ?
Bullet mass: 27.1507 grams, 419 grains
Bullet diameter: 1.0363 cm, 0.408 inches
C1 coëfficiënt: 0.870
Rifle twist: 33.02 cm/trn
Muzzle velocity: 859 m/s
zero range: 100m

Ace ammo, 305grain (ACE_7Rnd_408_305gr_Mag,  ace_408_ball):

C1 coëfficiënt: 0.938
Rifle twist: 33.02 cm/trn
Muzzle velocity: 1059 m/s
zero range: 100m

I couldn't find the height of the rail above the bore in the config settings.  And because of my ****** 15 inch monitor i cannot see the bottom of the range card, where it's also noted down.
So if anyone could look that up and tell me that'd be highly appreciated.

I'm thinking about writing a guide on how to use the atragmx and a guide on how to get these values.  For now just come talk to me (or anyone who knows how to do this) if you want to know.
For those who want to give getting those values themselves a shot: https://ace3mod.com/wiki/feature/atragmx.html point 3.5.

Updated with the Mk11 mod 0 (ec).

To all those people who felt the need to tell me in TS that the ATragMX is something useless, that it shouldn't be used in gauntlet, etc.:

  • My time, i can waste it however i want
  • "time enjoyed wasting was not wasted" -John Lennon
  • Gamenights
  • FSG with an anti material rifle, the M107 for example, on a hill 1.5k away.  A BMP on alpha and the first shot has to be on target.

Right the BAF DMR has also been added to the list.  That's all the guns i use on a regular bases (or like cause sadly i can't use the M107 on a regular bases).  If you want me to add a gun you'd like to have the numbers for, let me know down below.

M2000 intervention has been added to the list.

And i think i found my new favorite gun to shoot.  It doesn't have the same hitting power as the M107 and no HEIAP bullets but damn is this thing accurate.
Also you can see your bullet flying just like in real life, haven't noticed that yet with any of the other guns.

That would actually suggest, that when admins changed Advanced Ballistic with last changes, this was enabled too:

"Enable Bullet Trace Effect" - when shooting high-calliber bullets with high-powered scope, you will actually see Mirage caused by your bullet cutting through air.

Now that advanced ballistics are enabled, you should be able to read all these values (except Ballistic Coefficient) from the Range Card, just as described on ACE3 pages (the second picture with Card and ATrag). https://ace3mod.com/wiki/feature/atragmx.html

when you reload different magazine and re-open the Card, you even see the bullet mass (listed in grains in top-left corner just behing caliber) changing.

- same for Bore Height - when you exchange scopes, value is re-adjusted in lowest line of Range Card

The only annoyning thing is, that some values are in Imperial(E) and some in metric(M) units, so you need to enter them accordingly.

PS: I think this gun, and its 2 ammo types are actually pre-listed in ATrag gun list as:

.408 CheyTac 305gr

.408 CheyTac 419gr

Original post updated with the SCAR H STD.  If anyone is able to tell me the bore height that'd be highly appreciated.

It's been a while since i've last done this so it's possible there are some small mistakes in there.  So here are the config value entries and some of my calculations for anyone who wants to check my work: (if you find a mistake pls let me know :))

Note that the scar is not a high powered rifle or very precise.  But it's fun to run as marksman in my opinion.

  • 1 month later...

Hey there man, good work...

I am currently trying to find the numbers on some bullets and guns and I am not sure how to do that... If you could point me to the way you did it I would be really glad to go find them and send you back the numbers.

Thanks a lot,

Achilles.

No worries man, it would be too much from my side to ask more so take your time and if you find out I will glad to get all the info you can provide.

So far my biggest "issue" is how to actually calculate the ballistic coefficient table for the gun-ammo combination I am using, so if you have any idea of how to do that, or a fast way to do it I would most appreciate it if you could share it.

Thanks again and all the best,

Achilles

Right looked into it a bit:

I'd recommend reading this page fully, I quickly browsed over it just now (point 3.5 is the most important one):

https://ace3mod.com/wiki/feature/atragmx.html

And you're gonna need this thing as well: http://www.jbmballistics.com/cgi-bin/jbmgf-5.1.cgi

In the editor go to the top bar, somewhere in one of those dropdown menus there should be an option open config viewer.  You're gonna need that as well.

Now first thing, chose the gun and ammo you want to use.  Go into the editor and turn advanced ballistics on (I don't know how to do that anymore seeing how they changed from modules to something else).  Take a range card, the gun you want with the ammo you want, an atragMX (and all the other things that go with it).

Look in the atragMX what info you need to find.  Note that down somewhere.  Set the ATragMX to default weather settings while you're at it.  Go into your range card and note all the info you can find on there that you need down.  Then go into the config viewer and search for the remainder of the info.  For the gun you'll just need the classname of the weapon and you can find what you need under CFGWeapons>classname.  For the ammo you'll most likely only have the classname of the mag/clip (can be seen on the range card if i'm not mistaken).  So look for that under CFGMagazines>classname.  There's not gonna be a whole lot of things written there but you are gonna find a classname for the ammo itself.  Now go to cfgAmmo>classname.  There you'll find all the info you didn't have yet.

The only thing you cannot find in the config files or anywhere else is the ballistic coefficient.  You need to calculate that with the tool  above.  I believe the one in the editor is the C1 coefficient, which is pretty close to the G7 which you can then convert into G1.  But don't kill me if I've got that mixed up.

Now you should have everything and you can punch that into the ATragMX.  Be sure to note it down somewhere as it tends to clear your custom guns whenever ACE updates.

(Once you're done you can put a test target in your ATragMX and compare it to the range card to see if what you did was correct.  Say 500m on flat terrain with default environment conditions, you can find an exact number for that on your range card.)

Thanks a lot for the reply.

One correction is that most probably (that means I am not 100% sure but close to 99%) the ballistic coefficient in the editor config is neither a G7 nor a G1 (which actually is quite close to C1 that ATragMX uses) ballistic coefficient all the time. It depends on the variable called "dragModel" in the same config file (when for example the drag model is set to 7 it most probably means that the given coefficient is G7).

Up to this point I have done pretty much the same steps but the results differ somewhat and especially when it comes to long distances. This makes sense due to the fact that the gun I use is a 7.62x51mm gun which doesn't have a big range and after a certain distance it goes subsonic and "ruins" the otherwise valid calculations. So, I was wondering if there is a way to, somehow, fill this BC-coefficient table the ATragMX has in order to make it more accurate when calculating corrections for big distances or how someone can effectively use the Truing Tool. If you have any point on that please let me know.

Again, thanks for all the info and the time you spent to refresh that up just to let me know.

Best,

Achilles.
