Aegis_RVIR
Where are the scopes for the sniper rifles and the marksman rifles? There is only 1 viable scope really for the rifles, whilst there are normally so many of them, like the nightstalker, a one shop stop for any long distance engagement... Can someone explain? 0 PERO
Are we talking about I&A3? Which class?
0 Aegis_RVIR
Yes, I&A3. I am mainly talking about the sniper and the marksman, sorry for being unclear about what I was talking about :/
0 Amentes
Sights with Thermal capability have been removed from all but Team Leaders, AFAIK, for two reasons: 1) Shit's too easy yo. 2) Thermals cause teamkills. You still have the options of using the AMS, Kahlia, LRPS and NVS scopes, each with their own strengths. Yes, there's no high-magnification low-light option to choose from. But remember, at night, the AI is just as hampered by this as you are. If you're playing Sniper at night, consider downgrading to a semi-auto, or work with a spotter. 0 GamerbugUK
I think thermals are gone from TLs as well now, but I might be wrong or it was a glitch on my side.
0 Aegis_RVIR
It is not about the thermals, I couldn't care less about them. The reason why I think the rangefinder on a scope is almost mandatory is because otherwise you are relying way to much on your spotter. Some give you precise distances whilst other day "The target is round about 700 meters away". If anyone plays sniper, they know that guessing ain't the way to go if you are planning to be ammo effecient. If someone says 756 meters that I. An accurately estimate where that is on my scope. It simply removes the frustration from others...
0 GamerbugUK
So you want a scope with a built in rangefinder? This game isn't exactly difficult but a sniper with a rangefinding scope is the epitome of fish in a barrel. You could always try asking the spotter to be more accurate/specific, pull out a rangefinder yourself first and range the targets, learn to guess distance based on sprite size, use the map markers to give distances to a specific spot or use the ranging options on the sight you have chosen (mildots, acog lines etc). Sure none of those options guarantee hits and might waste ammo, but to expect every shot to hit without any estimating is a bit otimistic.
0 Aegis_RVIR
Or I drag my friend along that knows what he is doing, Ithibk that works too Jokes aside, you give some good ideas, but some are more difficult to master (judging distance by object size) especially the fact I am no dank MLG full-time sniper. I just want than to jump in and actually shoot instead of being a support who carries someone's ass from spawn to lz and from lz to AO (Yes, I actually did that a couple of times)
0 GamerbugUK
1 hour ago, Spikke - TonyPestroni said: wanna learn mildots? well here we go! the dots in your scope is not for bullet drop, no! its for measuring distance to your target. First check how many dots the target is in height. example: the target is 2 dots high then we'll divide the units height which is 1800 by 2 that equals to 900m range. The equation: Target height / mildots = range in meters (m) im not a pro or anything but this has its positives and negatives since a rangefinder 100% accurate but using mildots is quicker. Depends how quick you are with maths Mildots have the benfit of not taking your eyes of the target, unlike taking out your rangefinder etc. Also not all scopes in Arma 3 use standard mildots, so this is only relevant to a few. 0 Aegis_RVIR
Still thanks for the tip. I generally tactical ping my targets, quickly switch and remind the distance to swap back and take my shot
0 GamerbugUK
Just on this, are the thermal scopes gone from Team Leaders officially? They seem to be restricted and if so fair enough no one can use them, but if this is the case I need to revamp a few loadouts.
0 Amentes
Could well have been removed with the introduction of I&A3. Not 100% sure, but knowing Bacon it seems likely
