DCS Mod's (Textures, Effects & some fixes)

So I've been playing about in DCS the last few weeks and have come across a few nice mods and tweaks

All except two (3) are useable in MP with no issues continue reading for details 


to install them you'll need JSGME mod loading tool



Download & extract JSGME to anywhere on your PC,

go into the extracted folder and find the JSGME.exe file cut and paste it into your main DCS install folder (c:\eagledynamics\dcs world\) or similar


now run the jsgme.exe, when you first you'll be asked to select your mod folder and gives a default one called MOD and an underscore to the begining _MOD and select next / continue, this will add a new folde rnamed _MOD into DCS, this is where you place any mods you require to run, full instruction here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=98607 (but a bit confusing)


next click Task Capture_zps4gfodz3m.png and choose Generate snapshot from the drop down list, this give a text file so you can compare any changes made by mods if required.


Now close JSGME


Download some mods I've included my list above first link ^^ 

It's already structured to run with no issues on latest DCS update 1.2.15


Download & Extract and copy to your new _MODS folder, then re run JSGME.exe

select all the MODS on the left side (Available mods) and click the right pointer to load them into DCS, now run DCS


click the left pointer to deactivate, DO NOT deactivate while DCS is running it'll cause crashes (make sure to deactivate before any updates to DCS are applied too).

It includes:


Hi-Res ground textures,

New Building textures,

A nice HDR effect,

Wicked Cloud textures that cast shadows,

A fix for the floating pods on the AI F-16's (really bugs me in replays), (Deactivate before joining MP unless it's active on the server your joining)

Hi-Res Roads,

Tarmac'd Runways (I really like these (not all runways get the effect which is cool adds some variation),

An edit for the missiles to give them a more true to life flight parameter (Deactivate before joining MP unless it's active on the server your joining)

A smoke effect for exploded items, the smoke colums are thicker & rise futher into the air making them more visible from a distance

An options menu edit that add extra view distances to the list (Very high & Ultra) 

A cockpit reflection mod which adds a nice immersion feel to being behind glass

A cleaner windshield for the Huey, F-86 and a few others

The list goes on....

Also a runway edit for Desert to include Marsden Mats used in WWII to create temporary runways

If you run them with the set I first linked above, load the first set then Desert then Vietnam then the Mats mod,

choosing yes on the popup in JSGME to overwrite the files already used by the other mods


To see the textures in game for Desert set the season to Summer and Vietnam set to Autum/Fall

New links in first post for those that wanted it, enjoy


Some newer textures in there, winter is lovely imo, and there are some new runway, taxiway & FARP textures added too


I've added all the mods into one folder so only need to activate one file rather then several,

the F-16 pod fix is kept out separate so it can deactivated for MP sessions, 

I dropped the mod for the F-86 nukes & aim 9's i couldn't get it to work anymore :(
