JANXOL
Date: 15.03.2020 17:30 UTC Expected mission length: 120+ min (might be over or under) Act 2 - Might of the Bear Part 3 As the first day of war comes to an end and the Russian push grinds to a halt, the full picture of the situation becomes clear. Russian troops landed on all three islands of the archipelago in a meticulously prepared invasion. The island of Stratis is lost and firmly within Russian control. They had no chance against the Russian force and the full fate of the garrison is still unclear, though most likely many were captured as POWs. The island of Malden is holding, though the situation is difficult. The Russian force has captured approximately half of the island area and NATO troops on Malden are at a risk of running out of supplies. On Altis the Russian advance was finally stopped after their failed assault on Dorida. As of now, there are two distinct Russian forces present on the island. The Altian command is referring to them as South-Western Force and South-Eastern Force, based on the island region they landed in. The South-Eastern Force is also called the Main Force, as this is where most of the heavy equipment and command personnel is. Russian troops also attempted landing in the west, in Kavala, as well as northern section of the island, but both of these attempts failed. As the frontlines stabilize and Russians hold their advance, they keep bringing reinforcements in preparation for the next stage of their offensive plan. Altian and American intelligence is doing what they can to uncover what the plan actually is, but so far interrogation of captured enemy personnel yielded little results. Meanwhile, small cells of recon operatives operate behind enemy lines, gathering whatever information they can, but the enemy is now aware of their presence and aiming to hunt them down. As the second day begins the Altians are braced for another push, but the attack doesn't come. The Russian forces seem to be content with their position for now and hostilities on Altis are mostly reduced to minor skirmishes, artillery exchanges and airstrikes. However, it likely won't remain that way for long. Meanwhile, the insurgents remain a thorn in our side. The chaos of war and the need for Altian troops to focus on the new enemy enabled them to conduct their operations with near-impunity. While the Russian are also a target of their strikes, it seems that they don't suffer as much as NATO troops. Negotiations regarding Epsilon intervention continue, though with the presence of Russian troops on the island and all limitations imposed upon Epsilon it is at this time unclear whether they will be allowed to act. The Altian military is still hopeful to at least try to negotiate a lend-lease of equipment to help in their fight against Freedom. The US has promised additional help in the form of a free credit which can be used to buy equipment, weapons and munitions from US manufacturers and it is to be finalized soon. The civilians are scared, the insurgency and Freedom is once again increasing their activity and the Russians are gathering forces. The fate of the archipelago is uncertain, all depends on the brave men risking their lives to defend it. JANXOL
Note to any potential PLATCO's: If you come earlier (server is unlocked about 30 mins before mission start), you can ask me to give you some information that will let you pre-plan certain things before the actual briefing. Up to you. I should be able to give you some preliminary info for most of the missions.
JANXOL
I was notified that people wanted to be given some more information in advance. Due to time constraints I probably won't be able to provide a map together with mission announcement, but I will try to add it later, like in this case. It should give you some general idea and the topography of the AO, but as with real intel, I canot guarantee it's 100% accurate. Tactical information The insurgent forces have attacked several of our outposts, including an outpost and arsenal north of Lakka. After the attack on Lakka the insurgents retreated to the west. There are most likely camps and weapon caches somewhere in the area of Agios Dionysos and/or Alikampos, finding them and the stolen equipment is up to you. We have received several reports of insurgent activity around Agios Dionysos, but our outpost in the town reported no contact. You are based in FOB located in Neochori, the Russian frontline is located further to the south. Unless you opt for a really far south flank of AO it shouldn't be a concern, though you should be aware of possible threat from that direction. Further information from attacked outpost might help narrow down the search area, that information will be provided by Overlord as it becomes available. Due to the fact we're not equipped with gear for night fighting it is important that the operation ends before sunset. You should have about two hours of daylight and further 30-45 minutes before it becomes fully dark.
