Act 1 - Prelude to a Nightmare

Part 5

The Altian offensive is still on hold, while the preparations are underway. Although insurgents are constantly operating behind out lines, attacking villages and raiding supply lines, the overall situation on the island somehow feels calmer. The fighting is sparser, and the Altian army is making the most of this calm, putting extra effort into preparations, in order to resume the offensive as fast as possible. The high command is aware that with Templar and his forces headed for Altis, time works in favor of the enemy. Insurgent and Freedom commanders are most definitely aware of this fact and as such they are planning to disrupt our preparations.

As part of guerilla operations aimed to slow down our efforts, the insurgents set up an anti-aircraft net on approach to one of our airfields. Unfortunately it caused significant difficulties and delays, as well as equipment and aircraft losses. The insurgents also shot down a helicopter carrying colonel Silas Xenotis and took him captive, no doubt willing to extract information from him. Altian forces conducted a difficult rescue operation and ultimately managed to locate and safely recover the colonel, as well as neutralize the bulk of enemy AA net threatening our aircraft. Unfortunately during the operation substantial amount of Altian equipment fell into insurgent hands.

The tensions between Russia and USA are still high and there is no sign of them improving. The situation on Altis is constantly brought up by Russian media, who aim to throw blame for anything they can onto Altians or Americans. With the Black Sea Fleet mobilizing all of its major vessels and the constant exchange of ever more ridiculous accusations between Russia and USA, it seems the situation abroad is bound to become as bad as situation on Altis. One can only pray it doesn't become any worse.

The Altian clock has advanced and now shows 2 minutes to midnight...

The mission

Yesterday morning Freedom and insurgent forces launched a suprise attack from the insurgent controlled territory. They have gained some ground and captured an industrial complex, which they are now holding. The attack came as a complete shock as untill now the enemy was focusing on preparing defenses and partisan operations, so for them to go on the offensive was a complete shock. We are not yet sure what this change of stance means - worst case scenario is that Templar's forces have already arrived, in which case the situation is looking more grim than we anticipated. The objective of the mission is to retake the complex and search the area for enemy isntallations. We have also received vague reports about Freedom outpost located nearby, clearing it would offer an opportunity to secure intel as well as reduce effectiveness of enemy operations in the region.
