[suggestion] Different subscriptions

danne

Question

When the community was smaller I can totally understand the current subscription model; maximize income on a few dedicated members. But with the current growing community I suggest a muliti-tiered subscription model. At least a "Ahoy+ light" level for people who thinks the current Ahoy+ subscription is a bit too much to pay as a monthly fee, but still want to contribute.

That's a good idea. I would like to add to this suggestion, having a more obvious way to do a one time donation would be great. I haven't subscribed because the only paypal account I have is kind of a biz account I share with my partner, it took me weeks to figure out that I could do one-time donation buying ahoy coins. I just got 2000 coins, I feel like oprah now... you get a +1, and you and you and you everyone gets a +1.

Btw, a small "bug" I found after purchasing the coins: I got the automated "thank you" message from Rarek, the message contains some <br /> html tags as text like this:

.....<br /><br />You have been added to No group.<br /><br />You have also been awarded ¤2,000.00 points.<br /><br />Rarek.....

They probably need to be replaced by "\n" instead.

Apologies there's been no official word on this so far.

What we'll most probably be doing is keeping Ahoy+ as it is whilst pushing the donation side of things. Currently, purchasing Ahoy Coins is the only way (albeit a bit backwards) to donate to Ahoy World with a one-off payment. Seeing as Ahoy Coins don't do anything yet due to ArmA 3 Alpha instabilities, we'll close purchasing of those down and instead just put up a publicised area to donate however much you would like.

:( dont close the ahoy coins purchase, i like having a lot of coins haha. I was thinking that instead of having packages of fixed amount of coins, you could let the user choose the amount of either coins or money and then he can make the purchase/donation of the amoutn he wants.

I was doing to add the monthly subcription to my Shoppingcart. But before clicking on the "Confirm my Order" button, i want to see the paying Options. I have to say, I'm really careful on the battlefield just like in the Internet, especially in money matters. The only paying Option i will ever accept is the paysafecard. I know this is not a discussion about Internet security but i want to suggest: There could be more potential subscribers with having the same compuction about different donation and payment Systems.

Could you please show the paying Options in the Shoppingcard? Is it possible to use paysafecard?

thx

Hi Cenosie.

Currently, the only payment gateway we use is PayPal as it's a globally-recognised standard. Additionally, it appears the Paysafecard wouldn't be available with our current system. Clicking on Confirm your order will redirect you to a secure PayPal page where you can decide how to pay for the subscription.

I'd be happy to work out a different solution for you if you're uncomfortable with using PayPal, but I'd strongly recommend it; I've used it personally for many years (including buying, selling and asking for refunds) and have never once had an issue.

Let me know how you get on. :)
