    It is difficult for an ArmA community to bounce back nowadays. AW used to be insanely popular because it truly used to be one of a kind, however nowadays there's dime a dozen servers that do what AW does and I wouldn't think it would be disrespectful to say that they also do it better just due to how AW has fizzled out.
     
    I'm sure you could still manage to muster players to play on some of the servers, there may be potential for the occasional gamenight provided the community comes together for it. I'm not sure how many folk still hang around to play regularly but surely there's gotta be some otherwise AW would've ceased to exist.
     
    You're a guy after my own heart, I wanted nothing more than AW to flourish for the longest time, I think so many of us owe so much of ourselves to this community. The friends and memories made along the way, for better or worse.
     
    I hate to say it but if it is player numbers and perhaps a more active development you are looking for, there are other places. But the camaraderie of AW can be found nowhere else and I think that special quality will keep dragging you back.
     
    If you want to try and promote the server and organize more active development in AW, I would say go for it. The Staff I am sure should be all for it. I'm sure there's still devs here who may wish to reinvent the wheel and try and push for that AW uniqueness again or just perhaps ensure a stable platform is maintained. Just be aware that as per my introduction, it is increasingly difficult these days for an ArmA community to bounce back. 
     
    As you say in your later post. There are many improvements on the table. When AW was competing with its main rivals, a certain JSOC that favors the number's 7. It was like a 1950's Nuclear Arms Race. However the stagnation has left the competition far ahead and for reasons such as that, their servers are absolutely packed 24/7. I'm sure there's ideas to be borrowed from theirs though.
     
    It's lovely to see a bit of optimism. Whatever happens, it's nice to see the history of AW goes on. I would hate for the name to fizzle out as well.

    I wasn't aware of the AhoyWorld lore. I had a brief read and I'm none-the-wiser.
     
    Does anyone track metrics like unique players joined? Amount of new players in x time period? Average player counts? Busiest periods?
     
    The downside is that this server has no exposure on YouTube, any other forums, the player count remains low so unlikely to show in any directories online. What is the funnel for a new player to actually 1. Find the server 2. Join it and 3. Stay? Say a player even manages to find the server, they're only going to stay if it's fun and busy and at the moment Ahoy is pretty dry so even if they join, it's unlikely they will stay.
     
    I tried a different server just to look at the competition of a similar mode to what Ahoy runs and it's so much more fun and organised. It has its problems too but the server remains packed 24/7 so clearly there is demand for such a gamemode yet this server only remains partially full 20-30 at most during sales and weekends where it should be packed. I know this because I always check the battlemetrics page on whether I should join.
     
    I'm referring specifically to Ahoy EU1 I&A here not any other external events. I think Ahoy needs to take some pointers from the competition. One example being the ability to lift tanks and other vehicles so that people who want to use vehicles don't have to spend 8 hours driving to the AO. If I have an hour or two to play I don't want to spend 1 hour driving the tank to be shot in 1 minute.
     
    There's thousands of improvements like these to be made.

    We find ourselves somewhere in the late 1800's as the British Empire.
    The empire stumbled across an unmapped region and thus sent a mapping party to document it, they went missing.... A rescue party was swiftly dispatched.
     
    As the rescue party made landfall they spotted a savage fishing just of one of the wrecks and promptly captured it for use as a guide of these unknown lands, it appears to also know some information about our missing people.

    Situation:
    Germans arrived on Sark on the 30th July 1940, and in the couple of years since have been slowly progressing their occupation. In general the Germans have been friendly, but with increasing restrictions on the locals, laying of mines, and the deportations of non native Men early last month, a small maquis group has formed and got in contact with British intelligence.
     
    On the 1st October 1942, Y service stations across the south coast intercepted communications from German forces on Sark. These revealed that the German Fighter Ace Johann Aistleitner had crashed on the island, and is being hosted by the island's Oberstleutnant until the begining of the next week, when he woud be taken to Guernsey and on to occupied france via the ferry.
     
    Learning of this opportunity the Special Operations Executive re-activated older plans for a small scale raid on the island, hastily updated to include cooperation with the local Partisans. Your maps have been updated with inteligence from the local Maquis group about german positions, accurate as of 24 hours ago.
     
    It is now early evening on Saturday the 3rd, Phase 1 has been enacted, with a raiding party from 62 Commando deployed to the south of the island from an offshore Motor torpedo boat. The local resistance forces have gathered in a farmhouse, waiting to step off at 1800, H-Hour.

    Sark has no motor vehicles, so permission may been granted for troops to use bicycles or horses on the island for transport.

    Following the Soviet acquisiton of the M1 Abrams yesterday, objective "Warpig", a raiding party has been formed to penetrate deep into0 soviet lines to relclaim this vehicle.  
     
    It is expected to be in the region South east of the Airfield.
     
    Mission:
    Opposition forces: 1 Armoured East German mechanised battalion in the region, with three companies split over the aforementioned towns.  SEAD sorties have destroyed SPAA in the area.  Gross Lidern, according to initial SEAD sorties, is defended by "a big trench" and "a fuck ton of t72s". 
     
    The Soviet Airforce is expected to be operating in area.
     
    Task Force Wolfe is to be reassigned to NATO SPECOPS Command Europe for the duration of this mission.  Pilots from the 160th SOAR have been brought in to provide specialised insertion via air. 
     
    Cobra Squadron (F-4 Phantoms USAF) has been tasked to provide assistance in air superiority over Roche.  This is called in at Commander’s Discretion
     
    Civilians are expected to have either evacuated or taking shelter in place.

    Stumbled across this server 8 years ago, needless to say I've not looked back haha, despite a few occasions where I've had to go for some time to due work and other commitments.
     
    Started on EU1, and then moved to EU2 when Apex was released and they had Tanoa. Met one of my best friends on EU1 back in the day, and have this server to thank for it.

Reforger has a lot of potential but is still missing critical features like air assets, AI driving, map markers and others, so we will have to work around these limitations both as players and mission makers. An initial briefing will be held on TeamSpeak, and during the mission all communication will happen in-game.

    I was an FA before I got Zeus, so I am bound to not be a jerk to you, but yeah, you're not really a part of this community anymore.  And if you don't mind, why in the heck are all you splitters using our TS?  There are players I care about and do what I can to make their experiences on EU#1 as good as I can and you're just a non-entity to me.  I know Siege said I'm the nicest guy that says no bad words, but please, disappear so I can keep my rep.

Additionally we've managed to secure some intel regarding the officer that trapped us, who seemingly seems to carry what we're looking for. Intel says he'll be at his HQ, but according to the rebels, that could be in either one of three places. We're gonna go knock on some doors and see whos home. If we manage to get our hands on the device we're looking for, we're leaving the island while the heat is on us.

    Situation
    The world conflict has decended to invasions. Russia has invaded Ukraine, USA are seizing Greece, Germany and Japan and China... China just invaded an Albanian independent island; Saint Kapaulio, marking their entry into Europe. In the week after the invasion, a rebel alliance has been starting to shape up with no central command. We've worked through back channels in order to get in contact with of the cells. Since the chinese are listening to every channel and monitoring everyone entering or leaving the island, we have to enter the island undercover to meet the rebels.
     
    Since we expect the device to be here, but don't know where, we need to scour the island for intelligence. Maybe the rebels can help us. While the rebels are civilians and could work as our allies, we cannot let them know of our true intentions. Remember we have to blend in. Gear up, get ready.

    Now that we have eased the pressure on the green zone we can look at other targets. The Army are using rocket artillery very effectively and dealing casualties to the loyal government forces. Without a functional counterbattery radar it has been hard to locate these batteries but we have located one by backtracking the rockets passing over our HQ.  Along with this we have intel on the location of a Insurgent supply cache in the area. We will destroy both of these targets and any other equipment we find along the way.

    Situation
     
    In the small African nation of Anizay the Military has joined forces with a local insurgency to overthrow the democratic government.
    In a small stroke of luck the police force has stayed loyal to the government and the people and thanks to the insurgency they are heavily militarised.
    Government forces have managed to hold control over what is being called the "Green Zone" which is the area in the North East.
    The UN and the African Nations are bogged down in bureaucracy and military aid is slow to be provided.
    Through back channels our partners have agreed to fund our activities in the region.
    The CHADS are being tasked with disrupting and dismantling the COUP forces in an effort to stabilise the lines and provide the government enough aid to hold out until a multinational force can arrive to help.
     
    No sooner were we in country than our allies were already calling for our aid to defend against an assault on their positions.
