WinterMute reacted to Lindi in FENRIR
    Hello @EastonRodgers,

You have been banned at the end of May in 2020. The reason for your ban is stated as trolling in the form of questionable behavior toward fellow players and racism when you joined the server as FENRIR playing as part of unit [1488] sporting a Nazi swastika as the unit tag. Judging by the effort of creating a unit and using the unit tags including graphics I must conclude some effort was made specifically to display the Nazi symbology.

I'm sure I do not need to point out that this breaks several of the Ahoy World rules, but I will anyway.

I cannot spot any sign of remorse, indication of growth as a person since the ban or even a promise to play by the rules in the future which begs the question, why should you be unbanned?

WinterMute reacted to AhoyWorld in Public Statement about Harassment
AhoyWorld is made by its players. We must recognise that our actions shape the community as a whole, and affect other people in particular.

AhoyWorld is a welcoming community that respects its members and visitors. We expect everyone to maintain this environment and will take action against those who jeopardise that community spirit.

Today, we removed a player who did not recognise this. In their actions, they deeply unsettled those involved and repeatedly crossed boundaries directly set by the other party. These boundaries become our own from the moment they are laid out. Now, we are laying them bare for everyone to abide by.

We are an inclusive community where everyone is treated as equal. Standing or length of stay do not absolve a member of the community from ignoring this fact.

We will not tolerate harassment of or indiscretion towards other members of the community.

If you see somebody cross personal boundaries, your voice matters. You can always bring any concern and fear of yours to our open ears as staff and people. You can always give the person involved a poke and ask if they are alright with the goings-on; it is better to ask than to ignore.

From all of us, thank you. Take care.

@GTX_2018 I'm sorry to hear you feel that way. After spending so much time with us on Eu1, teamspeak and on EU3 I would have thought you would have a better understanding of our staff as people.

To me it seems like you are not taking responsibility for your actions. To simplify yesterday I will put in bullet point form and try to explain what happened, why it happened and why I agree it to be correct.

Firstly you offered up some inflammatory statements relating to gender for which an admin quickly corrected you and you were warned not to continue the conversation. Less than 1 hour later you were negatively commenting on a players performance which you were politely asked to stop doing, to this you responded by berating the admin likely thinking that your tenure here gave you a right to behave like this. I was in teamspeak and agreed with the admins decision to kick you at that stage. You then connected to teamspeak, where you and I spoke about it and I informed you that your behaviour was not acceptable and was not normal for you as a player. You agreed this was the case and left to re-join the server. Which I thought would be the end of the saga. Unfortunately, you then upon seeing another player be kicked decided to join that players group in an attempt to gain traction to the idea that you were the victim and that the admins had somehow overstepped their authority in kicking you. For this you were given a 30 day ban under rule 1.1.1. AhoyWorld is a welcoming community that respects its members and visitors. We expect everyone to maintain this environment and will take action against those who jeopardise that community spirit. Admins reserve the right to warn/kick/ban users whose behaviour is deemed disruptive or aggressive and not conducive to a place of tolerance/friendship/comradery. Whether the behaviour is disruptive or not will be determined on a case-by-case basis on the judgment of the admin/admins present.
With the facts laid out I will say that I would not have expected this from you as a known member of the community. I was also disappointed in how your demeanour changed when dealing with me. Why were you so dismissive of a moderator who is working hard to make the server enjoyable for all but would listen to me, the mod team should garner the same respect as a member of core Staff.

If it were me in the first instance I would have kicked you for the first comment relating to gender. The moderator choose to give you a warning as is within their discretion to do so.
To insinuate that you did not deserve to be kicked after that is to say that your behaviour as a whole cannot be used against you only specific actions, which is untrue.

Honestly, I'm just upset about the whole thing. I was glad to see you back playing and had commented a few weeks ago that I hadn't seen you and hoped you were ok. as I do with a lot of players who come and go.

To take away from this I hope that you can reflect on the encounter as a whole and learn from it.
Ahoyworld is a welcoming community and you are welcome back here in the future if you can learn and grow from this.
Many members have had a checkered past but we grow as people and as a community.

    Hello Pickle,

Thank you for your feedback. In regards about the heavy man portable launchers and heavy vehicles like main battle tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers. The assets used in I&A3 are all vanilla or DLC assets that are to be used to complete AOs and further the mission.

Without these heavy assets many AOs, for example the salt flats would be very challenging to complete. The very flat ground of the Salt flats will let AI spot enemies from afar due to the very clear lines of sight. If all the heavy assets were to be removed, areas like the Salt flats would slow down to a crawl and negatively impact the enjoyment of the mission for a great number of players. I&A has been developed by keeping the players and a balance of the available classes in mind. Changing or removing assets and classes will naturally have an impact on the rest of the classes and the assets at their disposal.

The ground rules that you have suggested will not be implemented. The ground rules you have suggested are seen as moving I&A3 more to a direction our AWE/Liberation/MSO-servers which is not the way we want to develop I&A. AWE and MSO is there to serve the players that want more organized game play and a touch of realism.

The timed reward script is also off the table. I&A has Main AOs, Priority targets and Side missions to provide our players a variety of different missions to enjoy. Which mission the player decides to play is up to each player. Normal AOs reward the players by advancing the missions and giving access to new FOBs. Priority targets pose a threat to the entire team and thus are important to take out. The side missions, while a little smaller often have a more complex nature and give out reward vehicles. Quite often these rewards are quite small, aside from the heavy vehicles or CAS assets. We feel that this balance is quite good and will not implement new scripts to I&A, especially when the demand for the said script is very low.

If a player is rewarded with a heavy asset, then they are rewarded for the effort they have put into the side missions. They have worked for the reward and it should be theirs and they should be free to use them within the current rules of I&A. As long as they are helping the team we are not going to punish them for doing so unless it goes against the Rules of Ahoyworld.

There is no way of enforcing this kind of rule that doesn't involve significant human intervention, as automating is it not feasible.

There are people (anyone with Zeus) who can tweak the balance of gameplay, without making it a formal rule, by providing a threat to tanks etc that normal AI won't do. (Though if they are crafting a mission somewhere, they may not do so, but you will have access to a handcrafted mission very soon after so it's swings and roundabouts )

An organised infantry squad (hell, organised individuals even) on-server can also choose to communicate with heavy-weapons users to help them target things that are preventing the organised infantry from advancing into positions that force the heavy weapons user to cease fire.

How would you enforce a tank shooting HE at the enemy with an AT launcher taking out several enemies in a go?

I'm going to guess the counter argument here is that they are playing their role by going out to the AO and completing the mission. Armour makes it quite easy, loading the Hunter a bit less so, mostly due to limitations of the AI. Both these strategies still require some effort and knowledge of the game, neither is really breaking CAS rules nor the rule to play ones role as I see it. I've quite often also seen AA-titans carried in the Hunters. These have been used quite effectively against air threats that would otherwise take longer to handle, thus supporting the pilots in their transport duties as well.

I will happily step in when someone is say camping an infantry factory from 1,5 km away. That I see as an clear abuse of game mechanic. Just like using the ammo truck to have an infinite ammo mortar.

These strategies are available to everyone, if they so choose to play. I won't but if I wanted to I could, this is all in line with the openness that is EU1. EU1 is to me an open sandbox where you are allowed to quite freely do what you like with a low bar of entry, I would not want EU1 to move to a more milsimmy experience, we got AWE and MSO for that.

If you feel that it is impeding your fun in the main AO, you can always move to a side or primary mission, perhaps select a support role that does not require you to run around the AO?

I am going to be quite frank here. As Spartan, I really don't want to sit and watch out for more things that could be seen as "disruption" or "breaking the rules". There is already plenty to keep busy with.

I also feel that the handful of players who do engage in this sort of thing as, Lindi has already commented, have gained the knowledge and experience to do so. It is impressive to keep a tank alive for so long. Plus, if a player has hit side missions until the dice has rolled for the tank he prefers, kudos to him. He deserves that tank and this usually results in a lot of other rewards sitting in the reward pool for general use. The same applies to Zeus Ops. If people get a reward and take care of it, props to them.

In my opinion, while no doubt this is frustrating at times for infantry, I have yet to see it be so extreme that most of an AO is cleared and people on the ground have little to do. The converse also happens where there is little to no AT and AOs stay up for far longer than normal as people struggle to take care of the armor. This is just dependent on the specific day and the players active.

At the end of the day, you cannot police everything and it will create a rigid environment where players will stop having fun being able to do what they do.

I am eager to announce that together with Christiansen, Havoc & SiegeSix we are bringing several workshops to the Ahoyworld masses!

With the influx of new members and the absence of similar events we saw it fit to introduce a series of workshops that will help introduce some of the trickier content available on the modded servers, particularly AWE.

With these workshops we Intend to provide an introduction/refresher course on a series of subjects that you may encounter while playing with Ahoyworld. Our goal is to lower the bar of entry to these subjects and motivate you to play around with them more than you may already have.
This will not be a hardcore boot camp training course but instead a fun and friendly environment to help you familiarise with the subjects we have planned thus far.

For now, we are still in the middle of crafting the workshops. Yet we would like to know which workshops pique your interest most. I therefore would like to ask you to head over to this poll and vote for the subject that you want to participate in.

Specific event dates will be announced in the future in the events subforum!

If you have any subjects you would like us to cover, get in contact with us or post it as a comment below this post!

This reminds me of my very first car accident - a minor fender bender, where I skidded into someone's rear bumper.

At the time, I was convinced I was in the right because the driver in front of me drove erratically and stopped very suddenly, giving me no time to react and creating the situation that led to our fender bender.  We drove out to the collision reporting center where we had to fill out a report form.

"Where's the box that says 'the other driver stopped too suddenly?'", I asked myself, and the officer I submitted the form to.  This guy clearly had heard this complaint a million times.  He calmly asked me how much space I was leaving between myself and the guy driving in front of me.  "Enough," I said.  "Plenty," I opined.  "If you gave yourself enough space, you wouldn't be here," he replied.

The point of the story is - it's up to you to create your own safe environment.  If you get shot down by a jet, that is obviously evidence that says the skies are not friendly right now and that's a threat that needs to be dealt with before you can try to get players back into the AO.  You are the captain of your own ship.  If other players are trying to get you to fly out when there are enemy planes in the air, or too much anti-air, or a SAM site, or WHATEVER, you have the authority to tell them no.  That they have to remove that threat before you will risk your life (and theirs) to transport them in. Air transportation is convenient, but it's not the only way into an AO.

Further, this is the reason we give you two airframes - everyone can get unlucky.  But we limit the amount of airframes to give everyone a chance at the highly-coveted role of pilot.

    1) Be an example of Ahoyworld's ideals ("AhoyWorld is a welcoming community that respects its members and visitors."). We want your viewers to feel like they will be welcomed if they want to join in some time!

    2) Please use our Teamspeak 3 "Server Group" feature to mark yourself as "Streaming", and make it known in briefing that you're streaming. This is a courtesy for other players in the channel. (Not mandatory for gamestyles where we don't require TS usage)

    3) Ask us to re-stream your stream on the official Ahoyworld Twitch channel.

Video creators, you have much more control over what gets put onto your channel as it is not live. Please continue to use good judgement about things you upload with the Ahoyworld name attached.

If something reportable occurs that is seen in stream, we ask reporters to include a link to the full length stream VOD and a timestamp in the report.
Do not use the "clip" feature on Twitch etc. Reports are to be anonymous (via the form) and should not have a negative impact on streamers.
