This has been a really long month for those of us embroiled in this directly. I do not appreciate the peanut gallery and backseat drivers for making this needlessly more complex, and I am immensely sad that people who I respect immensely have made the decision to leave the staff team. I feel this has made Ahoyworld measurably weaker, but I implore you to not be strangers.

I think that no staff are above scrutiny and I willingly have presented CS many records of past events in the belief that truth will out and that they can only act on complete information.

This information is not available to people below CS by design. Nobody below the CS grade has the full information - not even the person that made the report or the people who were reported. I can happily inform you that the first notification I had to say that I was reported was after action had already been taken against me. This is not our procedure here.

This thread has revealed some incredibly incorrect information that is being repeated as truth. This is only possible if people have been discussing something without the full information and allowed it to prejudice them. If this incorrect information was actually correct, then some of the conclusions that people have arrived at would be correct. However...

Objective and impartial due process is all that matters when making decisions as a moderator. If we start moderating based on gut feelings we lose the ability to function as a community where people feel safe to have different personalities and are all interesting as individuals - and this is one of the big draws of Ahoyworld. The community is fantastic.

I am disappointed that some people with concerns did not make efforts to make them known as soon as they became concerned. Your watchful inaction meant there was more to blow up when things eventually went wrong. I do not know if things would have gone better if the CS reaction to the report had been more comprehensive before a decision was made, but what's done is done.

I have also thanked Artemis for her report, as I want to foster a culture where we are all accountable for our actions. Nobody that submits a report that they feel is for the betterment of Ahoyworld can or should be blamed for what happens as a consequence of that report, and I am completely confident that she had Ahoyworld's best interests at heart.

I am not going to bear grudges from this, and I will be happy to see any of you in TS or in game.

I didn't really want to comment here, as I didn't, and still don't, know exactly what happened. In fact, today was the first time I'd heard at all about all this, and in truth this thread, whilst being a good thing, has made me a little sad. It is a good thing to air grievances, but unfortunately bickering from either side is never productive, and it's sad to see it from some well known and well respected members of this group.
I may be an Ahoyworld newbie, I've barely been here more than 6 months, and some of you have been moderating forums etc for longer than I've been alive, but I feel I have got to know many of you quite well since I've been here, and I've made some good friends, unfortunately some of whom I will almost definitely see less now this has happened.

At it's base level, this is a community based on arma (and squad (-: ) primarily. None of us (at least I hope) are here for the politics, and if you are, you're in the wrong place in my eyes. We're here to play arma, with, in my (possibly a little biased) opinion some of the best public servers around, some fabulous scheduled ops, and the best and friendliest online community I've been a part of. I hope I still see many of you on EU1&2, or playing along with AWE and ops, even if you take a less involved role or stop interacting with the social side of the community altogether, but overall I hope no one truly falls out. There's a good number of friends here for a reason, but if you do leave, I hope you find another group that's as friendly and accommodating as all of you have been to me, and hopefully we'll bump into each other again in the future.

As I said, I don't know enough about this to make a decision, so I'm keeping a neutral view. If anyone wants to rant, complain, or just chat about this or anything else, feel free to PM me.

The problem boils down to this, at least as i see it. What feels true and morally right is not enough to ellicit instant action. The process is, as ive gathered is sit down, discuss with all the parties involved, core stits down, reaches a conclusion, carries out the verdict. If this process is switched up by mistake, or because of feelings or really strong hunch, then whats the point of a due process? Catch an admin on the wrong day, hurt some feelings and get banned? Is that how this should work? Rules are rules for a reason, applies to everyone, playing the judge and jury by ear all the time and just winging it is not a good future.

Core staff, from all this event reconstruction, was handcuffed, cornered, had no other option but take their time to truly, deeply investigate instead of just keep an eye on it. Need to know basis is there for a reason. A mod shall not judge another mod, both should be equally scrutinized and held to the same standards, have earned the same respect of the community, both of their words carries the same weight, hence shall not be included in the process. To put simply, some decisions are above certain paygrades, that i can understand. Just like player reports, community members are not involved, it would be nice to have our opinions heard aswell, but how would that affect the length of the process, going around asking for opinions.
Pillars uphold the values, all the time. Not at times when its conveniently easy.

I think the filing of the report was a perfectly reasonable thing to do and I would say you did the right thing. I doubt most people are mad about the report being filed but instead bothered by the way the report was ultimately handled and discussed.

I gotta say, I'm really missing the night fighting, with flare illumination, so had a bit of a play in editor... Would it be possible to
Add the RTO backpacks as limited to just JTAC and squad leaders
Add the Radio Supports module via Eden
Add to/create the attached to the descriptions.ext file

Result should mean anyone with a radio backpack can bring up the radio supports menu, with the following limitaions
The Aircraft list only allows the seahorse to spawn in and drop 4 short lived flares in a line (5 min reuse timer)
The Artillery list only allows an 8 round burst of 105mm illum rounds on a 2 min reuse timer (~6 mins of illumination and with the call in delay it works out to about a 4min reuse timer allowing some coverage of both main AO and side)

WinterMute reacted to MidnightRunner in Announcing CHADS Revenge starting 18th June
The next iteration of the CHADS will start this Friday 18th June.

    Setting:
The CHADS fresh from leave after their stint in Africa have gotten an aid contract in Chernarus. The local governement forces, backed by Russia are fighting against an uprising of local forces. Civilians have been hit hard and the UN has sent aid workers to the area.

The CHADS have been contracted to deliver this aid. However, since the events in Finland the CHADS have been looking for a way to get back against the Russians they have also taken secret contracts with the local rebel forces.

The CHADS will have to maintain the guise of the provision of humanitarian aid, while working covertly to undermine government forces.

Expect the brief for the first mission in the next day or so.

    Factions involved:
    Chernarus Local Government
    Rebel Chernorussians
    Local smugglers
    Serbian UN detachment

That's kind of the intention of the Taru. The idea that it should just sling a passenger section or even worse, a medical section loosely on the sling is just bizzare. No idea why Bohemia didn't finalise it by allowing it to clip the pod to the airframe properly.

I think that's a pretty neat idea, it's a pretty neat bird, especially if it's actually used properly.

    It was a MilSim Clan.
My playstile is Cooperative and Team oriented. Mostly as a Medic (seved in the Combat medic in the Bundeswehr) i always have an Eye on my Teammates
Never served as a "Team Leader" "Squad Lead" or so. But I´m interested in it.

Because i have an active real live i have not the time for "hardcore Mil Sim" with 2 Training days and a 4h Operation on Saturday night.
So i have played in the last weeks on the Ahoy server 1 and 2 (Mike Force brought me back on the track)

I hope we will have a lot of fun! looking forward to it.

The repair offroad mortars have the permanent siren on them, which while fine when driving, but can be left on, i.e. when I was on the other day, there was one going off at the rewards spawn, and audible from main base, with no-one around (there may be 2 also, I think siren and beacons both make noise?) could it be set so the sounds turn off on the driver leaving the vehicle, or a set time after that, so abandoned vehicles do not have the siren go off constantly, after say the driver has been killed, or the vehicle has been abandoned?

This guide aims to be a comprehensive resource for the dedicated medic; to steel yourself with knowledge first so that you can hone it in combat. It will send you on a journey to become the best medic you can be.
It does not offer panacea. That's just called a packing bandage. It does offer the basis you need to understand the inner and outer workings of ACE Medical with an attempt to dispel some common myths.

You can find two proven sample loadouts at the very end of the document, as well as a spreadsheet with all the data there is about bandages.
