  1. nice, nice... if only I had time on Friday, same as Walk'N. I'm back next week on Thursday/Friday. Asking for a rerun then would be too much I figure, but would it be possible to record the training? Like I said in the idea box, having a video would already be really helpful.
  2. Okay, maybe it is boring to do the same stuff over and over again. So how about this: Make one proper boot camp series. Go through the basic stuff people should know when playing on AWE/MSO, some people record it and then someone cuts them into proper parts. This is obviously related with some effort, however I do believe it pays off in the long run, especially for stuff that doesn't change much. Putting those videos on a platform like youtube will provide both, a unified place to point new players to advertising for what people can expect on Ahoyworld Also, not everything has to be pointed out, so the first step would be to make a list of important things to know. Alternatively, an easier approach would be to search for videos from others and simply create a playlist (and maybe doing the 1-2 things missing ourselves). The unified place is the most important thing here. e.g. I had to search quite a bit before I found a guide for mortars. It's not that there are none, however I first had to figure out if I could trust the range table or if AWE uses the advanced physics simulation. Then I had to set up the editor (which I'm not very familiar with) and only then did I realize that the guide was missing some really important stuff which wasn't obvious when I read it (where's the indicator for the charges?). In the end there's still a chance I'd "accidentally" hit an orphanage instead of the enemy installation, because none of the info was actually approved by AWE veterans. Having a video which shows a methode that is known to work would be more reassuring.
  3. you can run around and learn as you go, but some things you can't just learn that way. also, a person joining doesn't know the people in the community yet, so they also don't know who to ask. that is why, I'd like to see a place, a list where new people can sign themselves up, and when there's enough someone who knows what's up can say when they have time. not a forum post tho, because this gets messy fast.
  4. After playing a bit on AWE and first time on MSO, I'm still pretty new to a lot of mods and approaches. I've played some roles and looked at what I found in the forums. Problem is: reading and actually knowing what you're doing are 2 different things setting up a testing environment in the editor is not that straight forward I would like to have a sort of boot camp where there's a proper introduction for the different roles. It could even branch out to teach people, who already know the basics, more advanced things (which probably already happens, but in cliques the general public might not have access to) What I'd personally like to see: How to use mortar effectively Building sweeping Basic commands / how to handle a squad Proper map reading other stuff you would like to see / know about To do this every time a new member joins would be a waste, so my idea is to set up a doodle.com (or similar) where 1-2 people who know those roles can say when they're available and when enough people sign up for a date, lead a mission.

    High Command

Fair enough. I just always wondered ever since I learned about High Command, why is it not implemented on public servers running I&A (or similar missions) to master the chaos.

    High Command

@ansin11, I'm not saying High Command is perfect, by gosh no, but calling it pure horror is a bit much imo. I also think it came a long way, so after you get used to it, it actually works decent with AI. My point was, if there is a squad which actually does follow the chain of command, this would give admins / community members a way to point out targets via an already built in module of ArmA. It's not very intrusive as team leaders simply get an additional marker, which they may or may not follow and normal players don't see it at all. And since it's not an external mod, I doubt it would be too much of a hassle to implement it.

    High Command

Not that many people know that ArmA has basically an RTS mode called High Command. A soldier who is part of high command gets a special view to see troops with group type markers, both friendlies and spotted enemies. They can issue commands to squad leaders, however the leaders themselves have to decide how to approach those tasks with their squad. This way you can e.g. play alone or against someone else and have whole armies clash against each other with only 1 human controlling them. My suggestion now is, maybe it is possible to combine High Command with I&A to make it less chaotic. The basic I&A game consists of people spawning in, loading their gear, jumping in heli, running around in AO, then die... rinse and repeat, more or less. Especially vehicles are kind of "wasted" as they either just stand around in base, or are used by a single person to get somewhere, then left behind. Maybe it's possible to make better use of equipment and make people do side missions more reliable, if there is someone who points out priority targets without telling people exactly how to do it. Now, I've played High Command a bit with a friend back then, but tbh, I'm not very good at it. However, I'm sure some of you are more capable. And even if you think this is a dumb idea or that you can do all of that with Zeus already, still, check out High Command. It's actually quite neat as a singleplayer mode in ArmA.
  8. Thanks still don't know about half the mods on enhanced and I thought you guys were joking about the suicide vests

  10. Monster Hunter: World - because mh was the only reason I got a 3ds, even though my hands are too big for it I still spent a couple hundred hours on it (probably because portable was the only way I could game for a while). Metro: Exodus - mixed feelings, since I still dislike what they did with the redux stuff (pre-ordered last light, only to find out that a couple months after it came out they released redux at basically full price... sure you did get 10% off, but at that point I was quite disappointed in them). Also, played both 2033 and last light without hud, but in LL they had to put in 1 (one) quick time event and boy oh boy, nobody tells you that there is one, let alone what button you should press. This drove me almost mad. that said, the atmosphere was great (don't read metro tho, it's not that good) Warhammer: Vermintide 2 - could be fun to grind through vermin with friends, but yeah, only if some of my friends tag along. (if Red Dead Redemption 2 gets a PC release, that as well. Not gonna bother with console anymore tho) That said, I still have a huge backlog. Most notably the Witcher series. Only finished the first one so far, but I want to read the books before I continue; 2/7 complete. Elex - looks a bit too gritty, but what do you expect from the guys who made gothic. I'm intrigued how the story evolves tho. Middle-earth: Shadow of War - liked the first one quite a bit, but because of the online controversy I decided to put it off for a while. NieR: Automata - don't know too much about it, but a lot of friends told me to play it.
  11. played on a german community server, but it was always a bit sketchy. nice people, but at some point everyone started to leave. as the community server ripped your I&A missions people started to flock over to "the real deal", me included. haven't played in a while, but now I'm back and decided to finally create an account here
  12. New recruit here, I have played ArmA 3 for more than 500 hours, but paused for a couple years now. Came back because of the fond memories I had with VTS missions. Unfortunately my previous gaming community disbanded because of internal issues. I know some members came here, so they might be still playing on your servers. Before I left, I already played some times on your servers, and before signing up now I also played here a bit on enhanced, as it seems "less" chaotic than I&A... Well, communication is "better"... Okay, let's just say, it's more fun doing missions in a small team, rather than overrunning the enemy with sheer numbers. Not sure how frequent I'm actually going to play, however, now that I've sorted out my private life a bit, I want to get back into ArmA again. Hope you're a bit lenient with me, as some of your British accents are damn hard to understand over radio... or in general Numquam Retro, over
