well you see, damned if you do and damned if you dont. if you hide it, ooh that suspicious, if you dont, ooh thats recruiting... make up your mind then, what should have been done, and how it should have been handled. and just sayin, CS is the most scrutinized. dont you think its fair to say they take their time to reach a conclusion which will be disected in a forum thread started as soon as they make it public? and why do you think is a good option to have demotions handed out without proper discussion and evaluation. like for real, you handled player bans for so long, what if your decision making would have been hindered by another mod hopping in and dealing with it without discussing you, then you need to take the blame for it cuz you are the referee, you should present a united front, back up a decision which you had no knowledge about and violated proper procedures?

how is that midnight became the bad guy in this shit? why cant ppl just admit they made a mistake, acting radther quickly without at least discussing with all CS to have that united front Xwatt was wishing to have?

at what point we call a sunk cost fallacy on it and stop this bullshit?

thankfully im not obliged to be more than an "average joe" yet still somehow feel i should have been more consious about what i share with who, maybe it will be held against me in the future for some reason... ffs, thats what my ex did, a true fcking archeologist, digging up shit from the past and concluding it was damning evidence in light of the present

again, rules are rules, and just for information, anyone can set custom status tied to exe files, for example while im in my IDE editing code, my dicord status says "coding some shit", is that recruiting?

Players in question should have considered stepping down for the time playing on another community.

Core staff could have discussed the situation at the start, maybe offered a "leave of absence" or just about anything but what actually happened.

Communication should have happened to all staff regarding the situation at the very start. Maybe a consensus could have been reached on how to proceed.

I'm just saying just about anything could have been better than what happened.

...now I am off... I need to rest.

This was discussed within corestaff and we determined that we did not and will not repremand anyone within the community for the use of this mod due to the fact that we use it and the fact that the information is accessable from other sources also. This was always the case and would have been clear had someone asked us at any point.

Initial action was taken within 3 hours of the report being made, The first i knew about the initial report was a message notifying me of the demotion in the corestaff chanel.
Unfortunately i was working late, doing critical maintance at work and therefore couldnt look at it immediately.

We knew the opinions of staff and had detailed notes from many people. we reviewed the information that we had from staff and decided that it was sufficient. Had the process have been completed properly then im sure we would have had a civilised convorsation about the topics at hand.

Honestly at the time it felt like we were being beaten from all sides, i knew anything i said would be spread around like wildfire and warped into something that it wasnt. I opted to not disclose anything until action was decided for that reason.

I will not pretend and say the action was appropriate when it was clearly not. There was no investigation and that was where my initial concerns lied. Had the evidence been clear cut as people are making it out to be im sure my stance would have been different.

I cannot reiterate enough this started way way before the actual admin report was filed. Weeks if not even months, the three hours of work is really not the issue. Had it been caught at the very start, maybe you would have faced an entirely different kind of attitude, you might have been able to speak and converse knowing you had the trust of your admins. Instead the situation was left to grow out of control.

I am very sorry to see a large portion of staff driven to the point of resigning out of frustration. It is a rotten feeling. Now I've spent more than enough time on this. Call me a witch hunter, tell me I'm trying to intentionally under mine the spirit of Ahoy and tell of every "pillar of the community" off. It should be a fair warning to anyone who aspires to become staff on Ahoy or currently holds a position..

@Lindi, ppl hiding their status on discord, going offline on steam to "hide" just to avoid fingers being pointed at them and "be a little more careful than the average joe"... see how much more suspicious that is? there is no right decision, just clear evidence or lack of. if you mix what feels morally right into this, then its just dictatorship. even the worst has the right to say their piece, which should be faced with evidence, and if the evidence is strong enough against it then an action can be carried out.

    facts over feelings.

Yet this is what was being done by some of them. I'm sorry you missed it.

I understand that you see the discord rich presence differently, but the way you're writing your messages gives me the idea you're taking the message rather personally and are getting agitated. As mentioned we're trying to keep the discussion civil and calm and emotions tend to get in the way of that. Let's try to remain objective so that we can get to a solution. We all have the best interest in mind and I value your opinion greatly.

You read me wrong unfortunately, I've had time to burn through the anger, I am mostly just disappointed anymore.

The use of discord rich presence does not constitute recruitment/advertising (Especially since Ahoyworld has now incorporated it)

Playing with another community does not constitute recruitment/advertising

Oh geez how convenient Ahoy now does. Admins should perhaps consider their actions a little more carefully than the average joe, they are pillars of the community after all.

  6. @GhostDragonI am sorry to say, but people were making their minds up way before the admin report. It started the instant our admins were advertising another Arma 3 community using Discord rich presence mod. I believe and hope core staff noticed it and I'm also sure concerns were raised quite early on, even though a report was not filed until much later. So yes if you start from the point where the report was filed, then people surely had made their minds up, it had been going on for quite some time by then. It seems Core staff just missed it, didn't communicate internally nor with the rest of the staff.

Seeing as it's all about "process and you shouldn't even have known about this since this is how we handle reports" I think that Core should have reacted immediately at the start and with out delay. I would have appreciated it immensely if the opinion of my self and other staff would have been taken into account at some point. There could have been more transparency and communication on so many fronts.

I dislike belittling Norris for getting his feelings hurt, nor do I appreciate telling off "pillars of community". We were following the situation unfold for a long time, I would also like to think I was a pillar of the community, at least I tried my best for the longest of times. I am worried if this is the tone that the one person that is both AWE manager and Public Manager takes in public, it is not a good first step in rebuilding a community.

Honestly, I'm sick of being polite, I'm sick of trying to be fair in this fucking witch hunt.

You of all people, our ex community referee, should understand the burden of proof.

The burden of proof was never satisfied, you would know this is you stayed around long enough to see the detailed report to staff from CS.

I am also very disappointed that many "pillars of the community" would have been passing around a document supposed to be privy to Core Staff only.
There is only 2 places that could come form, the person who filed the report or the poor member of Core Staff who resigned after being disagreed with.

Fuck this victim complex. You among others tried to undermine the application of Ahoyworlds principles in some failed attempt to get your own way. The mob mentality ruled.

But no Core Staff taking time to properly investigate and not just blindly ban people without evidence makes us the bad guys.

    Get real.

I really don't know how to respond to this tantrum.

You never shared any of your reasoning or even how you reached your conclusions. I saw very little transparency and a lot of trying to ignore the problem. I'm glad if you have released a final report by now, although it is way way too late.

Did you imagine this was every only privy to Core Staff only? I can understand why Norris left if this is the tone you use when communication within Core Staff.

I do not have a victim complex, I am following what I believe is true and morally right. I believe one of the corner stones of Ahoy World was for the longest of times that the rules apply to all. I guess if believing that is undermining the application of Ahoyworlds principles then I am guilty.

My decision to step down was not taken lightly nor was it easy. It was taken due to the utter lack of proper communication from core staff. Quite frankly in the end I do get my way, since I do not want to be an administrator in an environment like this.

  8. I had to step down. All the information I have had access to indicates very strongly that things were and are not ok, rules have in fact been broken by staff. I cannot pass Judgement on people for say simply sharing an discord link on EU1 if AWE staff are allowed to advertise and recruit for another communitiy.

It is a shame that stepping down was the only option left to many admins since discussing the issue with core staff became impossible. Even core staff were divided so badly that Norris just left.

At this point I believe everything is said and done for my part, my decision was not hasty, I researched a lot, I have discussed the situation with many people, I have also had access to the admin report submitted for quite some time now. The same report was shared with me from more than one source and I consider these sources trust worthy. The situation is worse than it has been for a long time on Ahoy. I hope @Minipily is right, I hope Ahoy can rise from the ashes yet again. Though sadly I think it becomes a little harder every time. It takes a lot of work and very special leader ship and I am not quite sure we have what it takes right now.

In-spite off all of this I look fondly back at my time as staff on Ahoy World. It's been an incredible journey filled with a lot of action, fun and friendship. There has obviously been a few bumps along the way but all in all a most excellent experience. Thank you everyone.

  9. Hello @Dom_01,

In light of your past record of numerous warnings kicks and 4 previous bans, all due to trolling, wasting assets and ignoring staff makes me doubt that this is a simple miss-click. The repetitive pattern of your bans are a strong indication of you not changing your behaviour, despite quite a few chances and you probably would not in the future either.

    BAN APPEAL UNSUCCESSFUL.

  10. I like the idea of readily usable CAS, since it was historically widely used in the Vietnam conflict. Conserving the team work aspect of calling in the CAS like we do on normal I&A3 as well.

Perhaps some sort of implementation, like your suggestion, could work depending on how much coding and black magic is involved.

  11. Hello @RedZiu

Thank you for your appeal. I looked into this case when @Ojciec_Kazimierz appealed his ban and I've come to the conclusion that neither of you meant harm. I see genuine remorse as well as a level of politeness that shows you guys can respect the spirit that we try to maintain at AhoyWorld.

I will take the same action I did in Ojciecs case and reduce your ban to 7 days.

    BAN REDUCED 7 DAYS.

  12. Hello @Gaskit,

I've looked into the ban report and logs of events. The repeated ill behaviour, disrespect for the rules and staff has awarded you a ban from both our Arma 3 server and Discord server today. This coupled with the fact that you have been banned previously, but failed to learn any lessons, leads me to the conclusion that both bans are well deserved.

To make a long story short, the ban will stand and I recommend you do not re-appeal this ban before a suitable amount of time has past. In the case of a permanent ban I'd say 3 to 6 months.

    BAN APPEAL UNSUCCSSFUL.

  13. Hello @Hekmatayar

I've looked up the ban report and the details within it. You have both passed ips via private messages to players as well as trying to recruit people over voice on TFAR. The ban appeal does not mention breaking any other rules, but recruitment has been prohibited for as long as I can remember and it still is. It is an actual rule, one that we take very seriously.

AhoyWorld staff and members put in a lot of time and effort to provide our community with everything a player might need. We host several Arma 3 server with a variety of flavours, we host game nights. Theres a Discord, Forums and Teams speak all this is run off of donations. I'm sure everyone can understand how recruiting potential players and donators hurt the community we are trying to run and provide for. Reading the ban appeal you've put up I don't get the feeling you appreciate the above and try to pass it off as a silly mistake. I'm quite frankly not seeing remorse or even too much though on how much recruiting can hurt a community in a game like Arma and I hope you will give it some though.

Since you have been on a lengthy time out I will reduce your ban to one month, please take the time and familiarize yourself with all the rules of AhoyWorld as not to break them again.

    BAN REDUCED 30 DAYS.

  14. Hello @Ojciec_Kazimierz,

Thank you for your ban appeal. I have reviewed the ban appeal and talked to the admin who banned you. In this case you were banned by LH5, not chicken_no6.

You have written a very polite ban appeal and I feel the remorse you express is genuine, due to this I will be reducing your ban to 7 days. I do want to remind you that Ahoy World strives to deliver everything our community members need to enjoy our services fully, including Discord and Team Speak servers, along with the game servers we run. I strongly recommend looking up the information on our forums. Hop on TS hang out and have fun or create a custom channel of your liking.

    BAN REDUCED TO 7 DAYS

  15. Hello @Babil

You have been banned on the 23rd of April last year so I've come to the conclusion that you indeed have served your time. I will lift your ban effective now.

Please do remember to read and follow our rules in the future.

Here is a link for future reference:

    BAN APPEAL SUCCESFULL welcome back.

  16. Hi, again, @ChubboSlav,

You are right it's been pretty much a year, again. I hope you have learned to better handle situations where people annoy you during your ban and I certainly wish you will behave in accordance to 1.1.1 of the AhoyWorld rules in the future.

This time however I will say that it is your third and final chance, so be mindful of how you conduct yourself on AhoyWorld in the future....and welcome back, again.

    BAN APPEAL SUCCESFULL.

  17. Hello @EastonRodgers,

You have been banned at the end of May in 2020. The reason for your ban is stated as trolling in the form of questionable behavior toward fellow players and racism when you joined the server as FENRIR playing as part of unit [1488] sporting a Nazi swastika as the unit tag. Judging by the effort of creating a unit and using the unit tags including graphics I must conclude some effort was made specifically to display the Nazi symbology.

I'm sure I do not need to point out that this breaks several of the Ahoy World rules, but I will anyway.

I cannot spot any sign of remorse, indication of growth as a person since the ban or even a promise to play by the rules in the future which begs the question, why should you be unbanned?

  18. Hi again @CheesyChips,

in the case of permanent bans they are usually up for review in approximately 6 months time. I appreciate your attitude in the matter, but due to a few experiences in similar cases I will let the ban stand for the time being.
