  1. @SiegeSixput it perfectly. It is difficult for an ArmA community to bounce back nowadays. AW used to be insanely popular because it truly used to be one of a kind, however nowadays there's dime a dozen servers that do what AW does and I wouldn't think it would be disrespectful to say that they also do it better just due to how AW has fizzled out. I'm sure you could still manage to muster players to play on some of the servers, there may be potential for the occasional gamenight provided the community comes together for it. I'm not sure how many folk still hang around to play regularly but surely there's gotta be some otherwise AW would've ceased to exist. You're a guy after my own heart, I wanted nothing more than AW to flourish for the longest time, I think so many of us owe so much of ourselves to this community. The friends and memories made along the way, for better or worse. I hate to say it but if it is player numbers and perhaps a more active development you are looking for, there are other places. But the camaraderie of AW can be found nowhere else and I think that special quality will keep dragging you back. If you want to try and promote the server and organize more active development in AW, I would say go for it. The Staff I am sure should be all for it. I'm sure there's still devs here who may wish to reinvent the wheel and try and push for that AW uniqueness again or just perhaps ensure a stable platform is maintained. Just be aware that as per my introduction, it is increasingly difficult these days for an ArmA community to bounce back. As you say in your later post. There are many improvements on the table. When AW was competing with its main rivals, a certain JSOC that favors the number's 7. It was like a 1950's Nuclear Arms Race. However the stagnation has left the competition far ahead and for reasons such as that, their servers are absolutely packed 24/7. I'm sure there's ideas to be borrowed from theirs though. It's lovely to see a bit of optimism. Whatever happens, it's nice to see the history of AW goes on. I would hate for the name to fizzle out as well.
  2. Nice to hear that you're doing well and doing what you enjoy PiranhA. Cheers for the good times.

    Mikael

Helluva guy. Played with him plenty and never stepped a foot wrong. Straight as an arrow from the moment we met. Will definitely be sorely missed. RIP Mikael/Michael/Mickey.
  4. What Stanhope said. Plus, AhoyWorld does have a Discord Server, the details should be on the forums here.
  5. Will be happy to come test KAT again. I'll make some medical loadouts too for when they're needed, once I've gotten fully to grips with how all the medicine is used.
  6. I actually really thoroughly enjoyed that. The roleplay was on point and it was really fun having the seperate groups split off into different cells and have the opportunity to do their own thing, really made the mission feel even larger than it already is. Would love to see this get to be played a little more often but I suppose we better not overly play it so it'll last. Can't wait for the next Friday to return as The Father of Eden's Gate.
  7. Time to dress up as guerilla's with host nation weapons only and do the deed.
  8. Ooh, I'd love to get all Ghillied Up and start scouting for some intel. I know some great spots in that AO.
  9. HIDF need some form of heavy lift helicopter. I would recommend either the Chinook for Western Influence or the MI-8 for Eastern Influence. Both fit the bill of being old pieces of hand-me-down equipment. Additionally, it would be good if FSG had some weapons they could actually put to use. I think some good additions would be: SMAW FN MAG GPMG "Gimpy" M82 Anti-Material Rifle M14 w/ rail. To be honest and a little bit blunt, there is an absolute ass ton of equipment for the arsenal and vehicles for the menu's that could be added in. Myself and Johnson both have some great ideas for additions to open up some more gameplay whilst keeping it in with what LH5 envisioned for the faction; it consisting of older generation hand-me-down equipment mainly from the Cold War Era. Essentially everything I picture for this faction consists of just that. There's just a lot of dead space right now that I think deserves filling up. Additionally, I have some ideas for some Syndikat changes to give them some equipment more befitting of what they would be able to have handed to them by nations using them as a proxy. Furthermore, most of their equipment should be of that which we are using, as smuggling in equipment is a lot harder than raiding the host nation faction (us). Additionally additionally. I think for the Guerilla faction, it would be a fantastic addition to make them some form of CIA backed force as if we are of mainly western backing, the CIA would be using proxys. Again, I've got some great ideas and Johnson too but I'm not really interesting in taking the time to throw them in if I feel they may get swept under the rug. The above additions to FSG would be greatly appreciated right now though, give the infantry a bit more of a chance.
  10. Dang that actually looks like an awesome mod. This was my understanding of how the pods were going to work before Bohemia decided to surprise me with the half-assed method. I was wondering if anyone was ever going to mod in the proper capabilities of how this is supposed to work. I ain't no EU1 enjoyer but I doubt this will be added to it if it isn't a client side mod which it looks like it probably isn't. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a way of scripting this to achieve the same effect though, but I highly doubt anyone will give a toss.
  11. Any chance of getting rid of the civilian aircraft that keep flying around, particularly the ones that keep flying into our FOBs. I feel like it doesn't provide much to the mission other than a nuisance, and there's not much point in a civilian aircraft flying around an active warzone.
  12. Can't wait to watch Walk'N and Jenkins have a horrible car accident. Looking forward to this! Some friendly compeition will be good.
  13. I can already feel the passion and soul put into this lore and campaign. Can't wait to get stuck in. Needless to say, this is right up my alley.

    Do you play DCS?

I bought the F/A-18C Hornet a while back and I'm planning on maybe getting the Apache one day too. Been meaning to buy some new peripherals and maybe a VR headset for it. Once I got the peripherals, I'd probably be up to playing with folks. Would appreciate some instructors to tag me along.
  15. OOOOOFFFF I was gunna suggest you take a Mortar team and some Heavy Gunners out into the East. It's great open range combat out there. It's like you read my mind. Definitely tempted to do that but also really tempted to do some of the more lore base roleplay stuff at Abdera as IDAP or Siegfried.
  16. May have to consider going Platoon Command for this one. This sounds right up my street.

    [Mod] BettIR

We've been using this on the MSO for a while now. It works great and contains everything that should have been in the vanilla game to start off with. Pair this with the Modern Warfare NVG colours and you get some pretty nice NVGs.
  18. I haven't read all of this thread so it may have already been said. I believe one good thing that AW needs to return and stay is regular staff and player meetings. Host this regularly, have staff and community members work out points of discussion and stick to the routine. In the past when AW had a rather large divide, this was a decision that was made and we managed regular community meetings where everyone had a chance to share their thoughts on improvements, have debates and also provide a time for staff to provide regular news for the community with real time feedback on what they thought. I think fostering an environment of regular discussion and feedback in real time during regular meetings will help to reinforce that "stand by eachother" mentality that is seeming to be lacking recently and help to bring about new ideas on the regular to maintain focus. I feel that this could all be planned out with a community meeting to let people take the stage and talk about what they would expect from these meetings and the best ways to do it. It may also help to get people together to chat and just have a fresh start if needed. This was something that @PiranhA did a while back and I believe the fresh start then was one of the best things to happen. Just let bygones be bygones and let the community shape the way forward.
  19. Xwatt been gone all of 5 minutes and he's already becoming the father figure of the community.
  20. Been here since 2012/2013 ish and seen more than enough quarrels and problems that tear the community apart. Hell, I've been involved in more than enough of them. I tire of getting involved now though. For good or worse, I've seen the damage. I can't really say for sure as I have not a full clue what has been happening. However, this seems reminiscent of the 2015(ish) dillema where a metric crap ton of staff and community members left over possibly the biggest divide I have seen in this community. It seems clear to me that there has been one hell of a disagreement of sorts between group A and group B, but again, I don't understand what has happened fully. I just hope that we get a good end result from all this as we did from the old divide so to speak. Things'll pick up then probably fall again. I feel it's a natural progression at this point and the staff are not really all to blame, nor are the players. I just feel that ArmA is a dying game and it's hard to build a popular community from it. You've just got to hope that you keep the people that you got and maintain numbers but naturally things can either become boring or disagreements are made and people leave. I don't have any problems if players or staff wanna leave to find new places to play. If they wanna bring people with them then hey, whatever makes them happy. The thing that's always kept AhoyWorld together though is that there will always be someone here who remains fiercely loyal to keeping it afloat. I respect those that manage that because I doubt I'd handle the heat. Many-a-times I've considered leaving this community. From one shit show to another or one disagreement to the next. However I've never really managed it, I've looked around and never found a community that has what this has. I have good friends within this community and without it, I never would have met them. As I'm sure many others have. So long as there are great people to hang out with here, I don't see any major problems. Either way, I'm on this ship whether it sinks or gets tugged to brighter waters. Obligatory naval pun completed
  21. Oh yes, I've been aching for lightly modded vanilla content. It's so refreshing and well made. Looks quite interesting, I sure would love to be a member of the Nyx or Air crew! It'll be like Black Friday for the roles no doubt. In other news, that soldier posting that Facebook information is gunna get chewed the fuck out by his superiors then sent home for posting that information online. God speed to him.
  22. +1 to this. It's a Client Side mod so (theoretically) it should be fine to throw into both AWE and EU1 modsets I would have imagined. As Anthony put it, it's an amazing tool that greatly benefits planning. These sort of maps should be a default thing to be honest, but Bohemia decided to lock them to Editor only for some reason.
