  1. I have not seen a military type organization, in Multiplayer, yet. I came into ArmA 3 Alpha looking for it. I have seen it in the Single Player Infantry Showcase with the AI guys and the DI. In the real military, Marines at Camp Geiger, 2nd stage training, get to know how to operate very efficiently at the Fire Team - Squad - Platoon - Company level of expertise very quickly. There is actually an infantry choreagraphy of how troops need to move under orders in combat. Once learned you will never forget it. Each company has its own expertise, all companies working together - IDEALLY - to accomplish the mission. Of course fog-of-war and FUBAR mentality usually prevails to screw up the best of plans. But most guys with combat experience do not bother with these games as once was enough and most really do not want to remember it. I do use TS3 when I get into the pilot's seat and it is rare if even one other person gets on when I do. You guys need a dedicated squad night and maybe you do. Aces High will recreate a WWII battle. Each person in the echelon know his place and knows his job and what he needs to do. Like that. And some squads operate with strict, though limited, command jargon. No idle chatter is allowed. What really interests me is a Special Forces or SEALs Op of parachuting into an area solo and accomplishing a mission goal. The Sniper profile and that .408 rifle is a loner like me dream come true. I took a shot with that at 1500 meters and hit my target. The other sniper rifle does not have the range. The enemy AI were trying, but at that range their rounds were falling short. For now, no HALO jump, but the Quad bikes suffice or rubber boat.
  2. Cute video. My 1st home-built PC I quickly realized my Intel i7-920 cpu's cooling fan was inadequate. All I did was get a CoolerMaster V8 massive heatsink with a fan inside and nicely brought the temps down. My second PC was a liquid cooled Alienware, 2nd generation i7 cpu. No problems at all even running a 4GB Asus GTX680 at about 80% load. I modded the Alienware myself purchasing the graphics card from NewEgg. Ammonia is the "old-days" refridgerrant used in industrial applications, actually it still is. Got a leak? I bet you will smell it very quickly (LOL!). I ran NC tape reader lathes in the 1970s. It was necessary to have them in an air conditioned room or they would overheat and shutdown, back in the stone age of pre-CNC machining.
  3. ArmA 3 Alpha: ============ Teamkilling? To Digital Combat Simulator (DCS), some servers use ServMan by the username---Panzertard. With this program in place, 3 teamkills be it A.I. or "real" player, will get oneself booted for an hour. Repeated offenses will get oneself banned permanently via the guy's IP address. And word spreads about bad guys and they tend to be banned from the other servers---just in case. I do not deliberately teamkill, but accidents do happen due to the nature of the mouse' scroll wheel does not sometimes highlight in yellow a friendly player. I am very careful not to teamkill and have ended up "Critically Wounded" a few times because I hesitated to verify whether my target was really the enemy. I have been deliberately teamkilled, repeatedly, by a guy and his chums on your servers because he disagrees with my gameplay tacticts---I was not cheating. Teamkilling is teamkilling and even for glorious, "righteous" reasons, it is still teamkilling. As to the other crap? I use Norton 360---best I have found. I also use MalwareBytes and Spybot S&D. Because of the nasty people out there, I quit building web-pages, and forget about a dedicated server. The crap you just experienced is illegal in the USA, just notifly law enforcement and the FBI, age of the offender does not matter. People leave traces of their online adventures, they are retrievable with the proper incentive to go-get-'em and a warrant to search. -+- Haw
  4. Hi, Just purchased ArmA 3, the Deluxe edition, through Steam on June 7, 2013. This is my 1st Steam purchase. I have zero experience playing ArmA. But to date, I have about 200 hours online gaming time invested. My flight sim experience is with DCS. I have all the DCS_World modules to date, plus the DCS Black Shark and Warthog before World and back to LOMAC. Other flight sims are FSX and Orbiter and Aces High. Been a flight sim nut since 1985 and my Commodore 64 and the Microprose Flight sims. Have done some DCS sim mods using the .lua language, but I am not a programmer. Took about a year to get fairly good in the Ka-50 and passed a squad's initiation test to join them. But DCS does not, yet, do grunt work. I am a former grunt, 'Nam era. I quickly found the more popular Multiplayer people to ArmA 3, and AhoyWorld seems to be top of the food chain. I have played all 4, AW severs. I prefer EU2 in my wee hours with Kapec. Though I asked several people, no-one knew about how the "Invade & Annex" got on to the servers. Nice mission, I love it. Other servers use the program, some guys mod it---and that is why I joined your forums, to ask how to mod the program. In order to get into the know, I would gladly pay a monthly fee. I did a Google search and found it. The download is here: http://www.ahoyworld.co.uk/topic/726-aw-invade-annex-changelog-and-download/ Unbelievable that this download is free. I expected a $30 fee for it AND I would have gladly paid it. This works for me in Multiplayer in both LAN and Internet, though I just play by myself. I like the AH-9, especially the gunship. The AH-9 looks to me to be the AH-6, 'Nam era. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MD_Helicopters_MH-6_Little_Bird AH-9: (Google Images) https://www.google.com/search?q=ah-9+little+bird&client=firefox-a&hs=oQY&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=9i7GUbWkHujB4APq2YGICQ&sqi=2&ved=0CDsQsAQ&biw=1920&bih=837 I am interested to know how to mod the download for me to get flyable access for the AH-9, both versions. I will find the appropriate thread to pursue this inquiry. Take care guys, mostly guys I bet. -+- Haw
